Hey! I want to meet you guys on Friday, too!! Where should we meet??
I just wanted to let you know that... sorry it has taken me so long to respond to this, we're in ASPEN this week!! Woo- hoo, a much needed spring break for my entire family. Today we're getting used to the altitude and tomorrow we're hitting my favorite mountain here (Buttermilk) to test out our ski legs. My kids and hubby are reluctantly going to Buttermilk with me because they think its a wimpy mountain, but that is MY kind of skiing. :)
Tracy - One of the nice things about the IMAZ course is that its not "out and back", with all the loops, you can see the people you're watching a number of times on the bike and on the run course. You should have plenty of opportunity to see Denise depending on what you're doing with the kiddos.
ASPEN?? WOW! How Posh!!! :D I'm not a skier, but I love playing in the snow. I'm jealous!! Have fun!
Friday I'll be at the site early in the am to swim, then back later on for the athlete dinner. Maybe we can meet before or after?? Maybe you guys could go eat somewhere and chat and then we could all meet up afterwards? Or I could come meet you at the restaurant?? Hmmm... There are so many good places to eat around there. And family friendly too tracy- don't worry!
When it gets closer maybe I'll get everyones phone number and we can do a three way conference call to iron out the details..
I just got this from IMNA. I don't have room as my cousin is taking the spare room, but maybe you do. Or know someone who does... It sure would be cool to host a pro athlete!!
Hello All,
How would you like to house a professional athlete? Here is your chance!
As you know world class athletes travel from all over the world to compete
in Ironman. Arizona Ironman is your chance to house one of these
competitors.
Homestay volunteering involves providing accommodations for an athlete and
usually a coach or spouse. Your only duty is to provide a place for these
people to sleep. Transportation and food are not your responsibility but
always appreciated. If you or someone you know would like to house a
professional athlete during the week of Ironman (duration of stay depends
on athlete) please sign up asap on the website: www.ironmanarizona.com,
click volunteer and select "homestay".
Thank You,
Sage Grossi
Volunteer/Special Events Coordinator
Ironman Arizona
LOL! I am not much of a skier either! My husband skied in high school on his school team, but this is only the second year we've skied as a family. Of course, the kids took to it immediately and were way up the mountain while I was happy as a clam on the bunny hills. Buttermilk is mostly blue/green hills, so that is why the family doesn't want to go there... I told them just to drop me off and I'd be fine!!Quote:

Thanks for the link on hosting an athlete, I'll ask dh this afternoon and see what he thinks - I'd love to do it!! Think about all the inside scoop I can get!!
