In theory, I could ride outside. However, it's finals week, so I'm stuck inside bashing my head against the wall. :( I'm going to try to get a ride in this weekend, though.

I stop doing photo ride reports on another site this time of year in empathy with those who can't ride in 60-70+ winter weather :)
todays' ride started out at 30 degrees with winds at NNE at 12 mph and ended at two hours later at 40 degrees with winds 15 NNE with gusts to 20-25. 32 miles about did me in. This Texas resident is ready for some warmer weather. On the other hand it was finally sunny.
Here's a link to last night's ride. Temps weren't too terrible - started at 30 and was down to about 28 when we got home. Tonight's CX practice is going to be a different story - temps are only in the teens! Sounds like we will be racing in frigid temps and possibly a snowstorm this weekend...

Brrr. Raced CX last Saturday and the wind chills were in the teens. It's painful to breathe, and I felt clumsy the entire race. And this weekend, temperatures may be single digits (high of 16 for the day, wind at 14mph; snow flurries).Quote:

Oh, yeah. It's fun, in a strange way. It took me several hours to warm up after the race - I felt my core was cold. Then I was exhausted. In a previous race with very cold weather, I crashed out, having slid on frozen mud/grass at full speed. *Ouch*. That was 3 weeks ago and I still have big bruises from that.Quote:

It's cold here as well adn about to get much colder. I may get to commute to work on the FATBIKE, but without studded tires, I will be back on the trainer as well.

YIKES! On Weds this week we went out on the CX bikes for our regular practice. It was a bit snowy with ice underneath in places. You had to be pretty careful, and one of the women in our group did end up hitting the deck pretty hard. Still managed a full practice, and I stayed upright.
Today is another story! All of that must have had enough sun during the days to melt some, and is now a giant ice sluice. DH and I just went to do openers for our races this weekend, and it was downright scary and dangerous! We opted to go out and do spin intervals on the road instead - much safer!
So, still riding! Racing tomorrow with a storm coming in. Question on whether Sunday's race will actually happen (we're supposed to get a foot, and the race is in CT where the storm is supposed to end with freezing rain and ice - racing is fine, but getting there and back might not be). After today, I think our CX riding is done for the year - at least around here! The pending snow will be good for the fat bikes though! :D

Still riding outside here in Maine as well, although only on the Fatbike. THe trails are nothing but lots of ice, so hopefully the snow will cover all that with a good covering and it's time ot either buy/make some studded tires.

We rode on Sunday - shorts and a lightweight long sleeve Ibex shirt. :) 7.5 miles with 1500 feet of climbing and descending. I think it was about 55 degrees.
Thom got anew bike - a Black Friday deal on an Ibis like mine. He's thrilled. It's nice to float over all the divots made by the cows.

We went out on the fat bikes on Monday night after our 9 inches of snow on the weekend. Temps were in the teens starting out, but falling quickly (into the single digits - it was 0 here Tuesday morning). We mostly rode on the plowed bike path, but did find some trail that had been packed enough by walkers that was totally rideable. We got another 6 or more inches of snow last night, so I think it will be x-coutry skiing tonight! Looking to try to get in some fat biking up in ME over the holiday break, though!

I could call today's ride a strip tease ride. It started out at 30 degrees so I was in Texas mode cold weather with wool under layer, short sleeved jersey, long sleeved jersey, wind vest, shorts, tights ,glove liners and regular gloves and wool socks. The ride was two hours and ended in 70 degree sun. I ended riding in my short sleeved jersey, unzipped and flapping, my tights rolled up above my shorts, glove liners, wind vest, glove liners and wool socks stuffed into my back pockets. I looked like a humped back troll but it was a beautiful day otherwise.
