No white bikes here. The road bikes are: Trek is black with red and Felt is black with blue. Mountain bike is black, with silver (I think). Cruiser bike is blue with a bit of black.
My Dolce is white with red - I love it. It rains enough here in Oregon that it's probably never going to be completely clean again.

Back in the '80s I had a white bike. Pretty with red lettering. I rode it till I broke the frame. I loved it. It was pretty. :) It had a clear coat over the white so scratches didn't show all that much. It was the bike where I had one of my serious crash and the bike came out better than me. It didn't look like it was in a serious crash. Replaced bar tape, brake hood and lever, replaced seat and it was good.
Only bike that didn't show much of any minor scratch or dirt was brushed finish of my Titanium Litespeed. My metallic red Transition Pro (Specialized) shows water marks, dirt, scratch... in all its glory. My big box kind of bike Mod 6.0 by K2 also shows dirt, grime, scratch.
I also have another vintage bike from the '80s RB-1 by Bridgestone. lugs are rusted, gooseneck and the quill for the handle bar is rusted and frozen. It shows scratches like any other paint job.
Get the color you want. Scratches and chipping happens on all bike. so don't fret too much just because its white. It's not like a blouse.
I'm honestly not too concerned with the cleanliness of the bike. It's just the way the thread went. That happens. It's just that I've never seen so many white bikes and I was wondering what the word on the street was. If this was the new thing, if cyclists were trying to emulate someone ("Oh, So-and-So rides a white Whatever - I must have one!"). That's all, just curious.
My hybrid is white. I don't like the color, wish it was red. :) It looks dirty and scratched up. My fault, I know. I have thought about getting it repainted but it isn't worth the money.
I have white bar tape on my road bike. I got it nice and clean with Bar Keepers Friend.
My Amira is White & Red and I love, love, love this bike & paint job. Many have said it was sexy looking. I recently got a Vita which is primarily white with turquise & grey pinstripe feel it is such a pretty bike. I wipe down my bikes at least once a week or if a see a little grime, I have done that with whatever bike I have owned. I just like keeping my bikes looking new.
On the SRAM note, my Amira was available only with SRAM and coming from a Shamano user of many years I did not find it to be a problem at all, in fact I like it better and glad the choice was made for me.
My Mountain bike is white, I like the color.

I never thought I'd like a white bike.
This is a Motobecane Fantom CXX from bikesdirect.
The frame looks to be a clone of the Surly Crosscheck. This one is the 42cm size.
Comps are mostly SRAM Apex.
I use it as a quick commuter, not a cx bike.
I like how the white shows the dirt.
My retired FCR 1 was/is white and my Vita is white. I much prefer white to the black/pink of my Ruby...which is the only thing I do not like about my Ruby. I keep my bikes waxed and if they get dirty I am usually able to wipe them clean with a damp cloth. I have used Pledge and car wax with success. I love the look of white bikes with colored bar tape. That maybe the excuse I use to upgrade roadie in a few years
I don't care much about the color of my bikes. But, I would not want a white one. I just don't like white for anything, except an occasional blouse with black pants!
I am notoriously bad about cleaning my bikes. I hate to tell you how bad my carbon bike looks now, after riding continuously for almost 2 years... I've cleaned it like maybe twice. DH does a thorough cleaning and maintenance a couple of times a year and unless I get stuck in rain, that's it.
Another careless bike owner: I'm not good at cleaning my bikes. Every time I bring my bike in to LBS, they remark: what a dirty bike. (Oops) I would not buy a white bike. My bikes are each:
silver
brown-grey (folding bike) I love this dahon for its lightness, nimbleness and convenience. Don't care for the colour. But it was the best model for me.
orange with black accent
red with black accent
purple
I knew my white bike needed a wash when I went to a get together that many of my biking friends attended. Everyone came out to see my new bike. Then my friend looked at the bike and started suggesting the cleaning products I could use to make it look new again. I guess i better wash/clean it.
But I do like my white bike a lot better than the matte blue one I almost bought just to save money. It was that bike that was on sale or the same bike in white (not on sale). Well, seeing as I didn't want to hate the color everytime I got on the bike, the white with blue pinstriping won! :D
White bike owner here with brown accents, it's a Specalized Expedition and my other bike is cream colored with black accents. I never thought I would pick a white bike but I really like it and also keep it fairly clean. Since I keep it waxed it wipes down easily enough unless I've spent a lot of time on wet/muddy dirt roads, then it needs the hose. I get a lot of comments on my bike about people loving how it looks.
I too kind of like how it looks with a little mud splashed on it, but don't leave it on long :o
