I've often thought I'd like to name my bike(s) but I just have not yet. Except that I just sorta call my bike "bike" as in hey bike let's go for a ride. Or c'mon bike, let's go. Once in a while it'll be, hey girl, let's get a move on. At times when I walk by her I'll pat her on the saddle and say, good bike or nice bike. So I guess her name is bike.
Not very original.
I love all these ideas (and from the other thread too). I guess the right name will just come to me.
My bikes are called "my road bike" and "my mountain bike."
My Madone insisted on being named Henry. I have absolutely no idea why. My mountain bike earned the moniker "El Diablo," because, well, he IS the Devil.
My bike is called, "The Ninja," as she is black carbon fiber weave with two sneaky red pinstripes. It just popped into my mind when I first saw the bike, and it stuck. :)
My road bike is Claire. She's also my avatar.
My hybrid bike is Fiona. Novara named the hybrid, Fiona is her model name.
Claire just came to me. I knew that was her name even before I met her. I should also say that the Alex Clare song "Too Close" was playing when I decided on it.
The unridden/unloved mtn bike is Andy. He hangs on a wall and collects dust.
My road bike's nickname is "My Feather" because the carbon road bike is so much lighter than the hybrid.
My hybrid's name is "Molasses" because she is so slow compared to the road bike (but she is still "sweet") . I continue to love my hybrid because it was my first bike (since my childhood steel bikes without gears) and I still use the hybrid bike to exercise my dogs and for light mountain trails.

My first bike didn't have a name, but was still dear to me. My current bike, Cinders, got her name because she came to me coated in black paint, much like the girl in the fairy tale. And like the original Cinders, with a little help from a fairy godmother :-) she transformed into a beauty!

Thought about changing her name to "Ella" but Cinders seems to be what she likes.
We're reshuffling the Bob stable a bit, and I'm inheriting my husband's Rivendell Atlantis. We do that from time to time, we're roughly the same height so generally all we need to do is adjust seat height & stem lengths and we're good to go.
The Atlantis hasn't given me any ideas about what he'd like to be called so he'll simply be known as the Altantis, which is fine. I don't have a name for my Lynskey either, he's just called the Lynskey because he doesn't really answer to Midlife Crisis ;)
Last night my husband and I were out for a ride and I was thinking about a name for my new road bike when it hit me. I have now named my new one "The Happy Pill". The reason I thought of this is because every year that I have to go in for my annual visit to the gyno I aways complain of anxiety around the time of the month. She always wants to put me on what I like to call happy pills. I have done a ton of research on this topic and have found that excercise has the same affect as taken synthetic drugs for this problem. I choose to ride my bike more around my time of the month instead of taking a pill a week before my period. The only side effect might be some soreness that will go away. I'll take that any day than popping a pill that only masks the symptom. This is just what I have found works for me.
Like "The Happy Pill"! Love exercise for all the good it does me. Also I'd add that a lot of mood issues can be improved by a healthful diet.
