I didn't tell it to do either. They just did it the first time I used them.
I like that it also buzzes. I have a time alert for the bike to make sure I eat and drink. Cracks Thom up how musical my arm is. :D

I think the autolap at 1 & 5 are the factory defaults. I don't think autopause is though.
I usually run with music, so I wasn't really aware of how loud the buzz/beeps are when it wants to tell you something. A few weeks ago I stopped using music, knowing that Ironman doesn't allow it (figured I needed the discipline to get used to nothing but the voices in my head). That's when I discovered how loud the "heartrate is too high" alert is. I think the folks around me at my July 4th half marathon heard that one way too often. :o
I found the autopause. I don't know why, but I'm more into playing with the bells and whistles of this one, than I was with the 305.
I still haven't swum with it. I opted to not use the quick release at all. I figure it's one less thing to worry about in transition and it's loud enough that I'll eat and drink when I'm suppose to.
