I lost my first dog so I'm (unfortunately) acquainted with this pain. It's worse for my DH who raised him from a kitten, I suspect. :( He's holding it together better than I am, though.
My 8 year old stepson was extremely upset last night, he seems to be coping better now.
I miss Les so much...no more cat following me around the house begging for food, or trying to trip me so I don't walk away from him.:(

I am so sorry to hear this. 16 years is a blessing to have had him that long. He was lucky to have such a loving home

What a beautiful cat. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm with everyone who has said you did the right thing. It's always hard to put a pet down, but it's worse to let them suffer. Give yourselves some room to grieve. Hugs to your family.

((((((BC2)))))) So sorry.

Me too
So sorry about your furry friend. I have lost pets too, and the pain is real.

congestive heart failure sucks. We had to put down our 14 year old Jason two years ago for the same combination of miseries. It is very hard, but at least take comfort in the fact that you made the right and kindest decision for him which is a blessing we cannot give ourselves or our loved two legged family members.
Hugs and sympathetic hugs.

Oh, I am so sad for you guys. Les could be a twin to our Chase. Such pretty boys.
It's hard to lose pets. We had a kitty go fast, like Les. Our Gus suffered a stroke/seizure that he never recovered from. Days later he was wasting away to nothing and unable to control his bladder or bowels or walk. He went from being strong and regal to devastated. I still cry every time I think about it and it was over 5 years ago. Our vet thought that he likely had tumors in multiple places (urinary and whatever caused the stroke).
RIP Les. (((hugs))) to you, but especially to your stepson. 8 is that age when kids really start to "get" death. And Les was always in his life. He probably feels like his best friend has died.

What a beauty he was. I am so sorry for your loss.

The "Thundering Herd" and I send our deepest sympathies during this difficult time. Cherish your memories and know Les lives forever in your hearts. Peace to you.

Thanks, all...your kind words mean a lot. :)
I'm missing Les pretty hard today...I keep looking at his favourite sleeping places and expect him to be there, purring and looking at me. He's not. :(
