I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. They are so much like kids and give such unconditional love. I hope you at least get better weather for riding as bike riding would probably help you out at a time like this.

W, so sorry about your friend. Losing Reba, my german shepherd, was one of the worst things I've ever gone through. Something that helped was from Chief Seattle, who, when the topic of death came up, said, "Did I say 'death?' There is no death. There is only a change of life."
I'm glad you have someone to grieve with. I used to go out and cry on the goats. They didn't mind a bit, and then we all ate carrots. :o
Such sad news!
Watasabi- I have been thinking of you and now I understand why. My condolences to you as well. Losing a special memeber of the family is always hard. I'm glad you have another pup to comfort you.
Riding in the rain is absolutely no fun. Glad you could get home and get warm.
Been a busy fall which is why you haven't heard from me re riding up your way. May have to delay until Spring now. :( :( :( :(
So sorry to hear of your loss, W...
Our beloved Boston Terrier is 13 and a half, and I am already dreading the day we lose her. She's been our baby all these years since my husband and I could not have children. I'm going to be a basket case when she dies. I don't even know that I can handle getting another dog after Pepper. She's completely irreplaceable.
Sending virtual hugs and a shoulder to cry on your way.... :(

My heart is full with your beautiful sisterly words of comfort and wisdom. We went today and put some of Ellie's ashes by one of her favorite places where the river runs into the ocean. I recalled that one of her final flirtations was with the English touring cyclist who stayed with us recently and it made me smile--she had good taste in men!
My love to you and all of your furry four legged ones.

I am very sorry about your loss. It's certainly a deep sadness and feeling of emptiness. My std poodle, Melony, passed about six years ago, and it was the worst loss I've gone through. My doctor saw how bad off I was and he insisted I "get over the hump" by taking antidepressants. I am not advocating that, but it really helped me; I cried nearly all the time. I'd stop at the local dog part to pet as many dogs as I could, and it also helped me. Melony's registered name (she had been a show dog before I got her) was "Love is Everywhere," and since her loss, a whole new world has opened up to me, truly with love everywhere and much more profoundly than ever before. I wish the same for you. I am now volunteering to help various animal organizations and am also grooming and visiting 10 camels every week. They are the loves of my life, and there's so much out there just waiting to be discovered for everyone.
I was saddened to hear of your loss. Love and kindness sent to you and to your remaining dog companion.
I love my dog very much! My dog now is seems to be as though a reincarnation of my dog from childhood, disposition and all! I did not name her the same though. But I was sad back when I lost the first one. She was old 17 years, and know the sadness I would feel if anything were to happen to my dog now.
