Go for it!
Thanks everyone for the encouragement.
One thing I noticed while I was just using that 'ridewithgps' website is that the route I do every week is REALLY flat - biggest climb is 110 feet. This is far more hilly and full of climbs. I don't even know where to go that would have the hills like that. I know I have to train on some hills of that size - just no clue where to find them - so I guess I have a little homework to do. That's a GREAT site btw - MUCH better than mapmyride!
I know its mental - so I'm going to give it my all. And the thing I love - is that if I get there and decide to do the 25 miles - I'll be totally fine with that!
What's a parking parkade? I have to google that one??
I did 23 miles on Saturday and felt awesome except for arm pain. Now I realize that its far more flat than Newport and I'm hoping to go down there for a ride before the actual ride - but ...... I was pumped to get on and do 23 miles without any problem in terms of cardio or my legs. I really felt great and I think I could have easily done 30 miles if I had the time and the water/fuel! So I was excited! (Now just to figure out how to deal with arm pain.)
I'll come ride with you, if you want company on your pre-ride ride. I can show you the 25 mile route. If you would prefer to ride solo, I won't be offended.
I know you're worried about not being able to do it. I have faith you will be fine!
Wow Red - what a sweet offer - I would love that! I have to be honest - I'm so used to riding by myself I'm scared that I'd be super slow for you. But I'd love some company if you're really interested in doing the ride for yourself? I was thinking that I would go the weekend before, Saturday the 11th or Sunday the 12th - super early to beat traffic. I'd really love to do the 45 on the day of the ride but if you and I did the 25 - that would be huge and fun!
But I might drive you nuts ... :D ... are you a patient person?
That 25 mile loop is my regular route, more or less. I ride it several times per week, so I'll probably be doing it anyway. Don't worry about speed with me! I have no trouble riding slow, and in fact, enjoy it on occasion.
I'm good with nuts. ;)
If you can ride a mile a day I'm sure you can do 45 miles in a month.
;)
