You mean this part: They locked the bike on their rack, but when they arrived at their destination, it wasn't there because a gust of wind had blown it off

A 'gust of wind' blew a locked bike off a rack and no one noticed until they got to their destination? Come on!
Yeah, and with a bike that expensive, I'd be trying to find a vehicle big enough to put the bike in. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I hate putting my $800 bike on the rack, sturdy though it may be. And I think that I'd have noticed if it fell off...
