I'll take my tomatoes from the farm down the street with a drizzle of olive oil, lovingly brought back from Spain in my suitcase, mozzarella, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
I wonder how we'd see preferences if the responses were broken down by region?
My husband loves hummus. i just don't like it.
Good thing he loves it though, because i have found after years of experimentation that the plastic on the bottom of the hummus containers makes THE perfect mountain dulcimer pick i have ever found to use, so every time he eats a hummus tub I get a precious new pick. :D
Hummus and tahini in a pita with tomatoes with olive oil and olive oil dip with spices. Soul food! Stuffed grape leaves with lamb! MMMMM. Middle eastern mojo like my mom and aunt used to make.
Ahh memories.
They do this wonderful "pa amb oli" in Mallorca. It's basically a nice slab of country bread with garlic and olive oil rubbed in, fresh tomatoes, Manchego cheese and either thin-sliced or rough-cut Serrano ham, depends on who makes the snack. Garnished with big green olives and/or sweet onions.
It's a slice of heaven. I could live on that stuff for the rest of my life!
I'm partial to peanut butter and tomato sandwiches.
I know, I know, it sounds gross. But it's reallllllly good.:D
I love hummus, but hard to find ones that aren't too garlicky. I sometimes just take a can of chick peas and blender it with lemon or apple cider vinegar. Nice and plain :)
"Too garlicky?" What is this thing of which you speak? :p
NwbyNW, please, that combination sounds to die for.
I miss the Serrano ham, but I found the 3 milk cheese, along with machengo right in the grocery store. I could live on tapas now!
