The first thing I thought of was a Brooks saddle, but that might be a hard item to buy for someone else. Or how about a nice bike bag like a pannier or a handlebar bag or some other type, from the companies that make the gorgeous ones that combine leather and wool? I don't have one of my own, or I'd be better about remembering the name of the makers! ;)
If he is the type that has to carry a laptop/briefcase I have seen some rather nice leather messenger bags as well.
