it's a problem with velcro, period.
I just took DH's sidi's to the shoe repair guy and he did a fantastic job replacing the velcro. Looks totally factory. DH is very picky and he was amazed. He charged $30 to repair them, so I think it was well worth it. Day after we picked them up from shoe repair, the bike shop called and had finally gotten the replacement straps from sidi. We will pick them up and keep them incase we have velcro issues again.
I also took my sidi's to the shoe repair shop nad had the velcro replaced. cheap and fixed!
I just replaced the velcro on my BFs sidis. I bought just normal velcro with sticky stuff on the back. Then we used fingernails to peel off the old stuff (both sides) and cut the new stuff to match the old using high quality scissors. It has been 2 months now and its just beginning to peel a little. I'd say its a temporary fix but not one that can't be repeated....
Well, I am happy with my new red Sidis.
That seems like a lot of work for shoes (mine) that were five years old. Plus, I can't even thread a needle, which gives you an idea of the extent of my handwork skills.
The velcro on the new ones has an additional "catch" on the strap that looks like it will help in the deterioration issue.
