Wow! You have no idea how good it is to hear that other people have problems with their ears in the wind! I've spent my life as the only one with ears hurting when there's any breeze and the temp is below 70 degrees. So I've finally bought a ton of headbands to wear all year round. And I have a skull cap that fits under the helmet too.

I use a pair of ear warmers that slide over my helmet straps. I love them because they let sound through and also because they aren't strapped right on you head your ears/head don't overheat and no headband hair! I cycle to work rain hail or shine (okay maybe not hail!) so when it's freezing and windy my ears stay warm, and I HATE having cold ears too :)

I have just the regular, plain old buff. It's super!
Earbags work well for me when it gets cold out - the straps of my helmet go over them and they stay in place very nicely. Plus you can get them in zebra prints and leopard spots and be stylin' :)
A buff works great too.
