We went out to dinner with the neighbors and came home right before 8 pm, walked down to the end of the block to look at the local great horned owls (saw one), then sat on their porch by candlelight drinking sweet wine and listening to music. Nice. :)
We had a romantic candle lit dinner for two. Red thai curry with halibut and scallops, a litre of Banrock Station Cab Sauv, and a chocolate bar with hazelnuts This is the life...
We were the only dark house on our street last night, including the new construction where nobody lives yet and the gianormous chuch at the end of the block. :(
I think we were one of the only dark houses. The houses here are spaced really far apart and I didn't drive around to look (kinda defeats the purpose of earth awareness ;)). I do know that the neighbors I can see still had their Christmas lights on and up.
I kinda dug sitting in the dark with the candles, though. It was a good, fun awareness campaign.
All those candlelight dinners sounded pretty darn good. Kelownagirl- I love thai curries, it sounds so good with halibut and sea scallops.
I'm sorry to say that I didn't hear about this until after the fact. Where have I been???? :(

We did this. We spent the hour first walking the dogs and then we walked down to the store to pick up some frozen yogurt. When we got back, we just sat and talked for the last few minutes.
I made sure we turned off the TV & the computers and I held off running the washing machine until after 9, as well.
Most of our building is still uninhabited (brand new apartments), but even so, I saw very, very few dark windows on our walk. :(
I think we should be doing this once a day, or at least coe a week.
Our power company says we had a 2% savings in power for our entire province because of th=at hour and not everyone participated. Just imagine how much power could be saved....
They really ought to avoid scheduling these things during NCAA basketball tournament games...
I live in a small place, so even when I leave all the lights on, which I rarely do, it's only four lights. If folks lived in smaller places, there'd be fewer lights to turn off in the first place.
