Way to Go! That IS a long commute. Glad everything went well for you. Interesting observation about morning dark versus evening dark. I'll be doing some early morning commuting spring and I hope drivers are nicer here as well. One thing I've found about my evening commute is that timing is everything. When I leave at the height of "rush" hour it's a scary ride home. :eek: But 30 to 45 minutes later it's a pleasant ride home. It's worth gettting home a little later and a lot happier. bikerHen
Just found your thread...way to go! And it is shocking how hungry you get when you commute that far. During the spring and fall, I commuted a couple times a week to work, and it is about 20 miles each way. I was RAVENOUS all day! But it's so fun! Now that there's snow and ice on the ground, I'm out of the game, though.

Great job! I have started commuting to work two out of the three days that I work. I can relate to a lot of what you said. Particularly the freaking out the co-workers part...lol.
Our commutes sound similar. Mine is 20 each way because I designed it to get some mileage in. There's actually a direct route that is 8 miles each way, but I don't get any climbing in that way. On Thursday nights I ride south on the coast a bit to meet my boyfriend who is commuting home and we ride the last section together. That's fun! :)

back on topic: lord, yes, eat lots! I have to make a point out of eating just before going to bed, or I can't fall asleep.
erk, slushy and miserable out, I'm going to wimp out and take the shortest way to work for a few days now.

Slightly back on topic...he's a commuter too. 65 miles each way and he typically does at least two-three round trips per week!

That is one awesome commute! You need to start a bike club I had one but it fizzled out this year and I had one boy last year so maybe next year.You have enough miles for great traing. Congratulations!

I just started commuting again (today!), and my first winter commute. I'm at around 29-30 miles each way. I did mine in about 2 hours 10 min.
I agree with everything you've written and burned 1100 calories this morning and have been famished since. I was worried about my lighting but I didn't have a problem with people seeing me.
Keep us updated, it's nice to know that someone is in the same boat!
