Thought it would have - I was watching the weather forecasts for Gisborne and like us, you seemed to score some decent weather.
What was the damage from the earthquake like? Much left that was noticeable?
And yeah... many places better than Auckland now. Don't get me wrong, I was born there - but there is just tooooo many people and cars there now...

I loved getting away from the big smoke as well :) If we lived in Auckland, we would be in Rotovegas every month at Whaka..:D and eating at the Fat Dog :cool:

I'd like it to rain in Auckland any time soon :o down side to living in Beachlands is living on water tanks in probably the least area of Auckland that gets rain ! :rolleyes: .....Quote:

we got back from Gisborne yesterday. Apart from a few places that were still fenced off, you'd not even know there had been a quake. Being an Australian living in NZ, I was a tad apprehensive about going - never know when the next one will hit. Life there was 'business as usual"Quote:

MillieNZ did you go to the olympic pool - had the coolest waterslide that kept masters 5 & 11yo occupied for hours (and me too!)
The thing about NZ is that a 6.8 quake doesn't really seem to affect much as everything is built to great codes and it's all part of the expected rather than a big surprise. Very reassuring :)

I was born in Auckland before JAFFA's were called JAFFAs!
But I lived up there the year after I left school (worked in Kelly Tarlton's) and it was crazy busy then!
NMT - we stayed in the same camping ground for the RamblersCC/GisborneCC INterclub Champs last year. It's a very nice little place isn't it... I was very taken with the beach right there - I hadn't really ever registered that Gisborne might have such nice beaches :)
I'll remember the Olympic Pool when we go up for the champs again.
