I got IP amfib tights and a mini pump. The tights feel great, but ladies....they do not block out 17 degrees of cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today it's supposed to get up to 39 and I see that New Years day should be in the 40s. YIPPEEE I am taking out my precious Carmen for the "First Dozen". That is a local New Years Day ride.

what I got
some of you already heard this in the bikes forum, but I got a bike!
My father and his wife called me back in November with a budget and said, "whatever kind of bike you want in this price range, you pick it out and we buy."
I have my first real road bike. The TREK 1000 WSD.
It's pretty. The brushed aluminum with only some paint in white and light blue.
We also wandered around the bike shop and picked up some other stuff to go with it, like a new helmet, (pearly white to match :) )And a bright screamin' yellow PI windbreaker, so dumb cars don't run me over.
Boyfriend and I have yet to exchange gifts, so I don't know if there's more bike stuff on the way or not! :D (We wait until New Year's Day to do our gifts, because Christmas is so hectic with both of us coming from divorced families.)
Sounds like Santa was good to all of you - enjoy!
PS: my new bike needs a name. thinking of naming it gorgeous george. ha ha. ;)

Santa
Santa brought me a pair of clipless pedals - my first, so wish me luck! Also a new Camelback with more ounces. Yipee!

:( I"m pitiful! I didn't get 1 bike thing from Anyone in my family this year - I guess they all think its just a hobby and "if they ignore it it will just go away". So I bought myself some new rapidfire shifters for the bike. I"m going to pick it up tonight after being out of town all this week and I"m riding Baby tomorrow come heck or high water!

Santa sure has been busy - there's some lucky lasses out there.
Myself - I got a lovely Camelback for my newly embarked on mtb career from my fiance, but have yet to get pressies from my brother. He doesn Ironmen triathlons so I 'm expecting some cycling stuff from him too.
I got him some groovy water bottles, a thermal long-sleeve t-shirt and, just to help the training, some vodak chocolates! :p

what are vodak chocolates? are they yummy?

Since neither Santa nor Chanuka woman thought I needed more bike stuff, I got myself some new PI fleece tigths and a new long sleeve jersey, plus a few little trinkets like socks and tire levers and a little multi-tool. Now all I need is better weather and at least one week of not being too sick to go ride. It's been three weeks, and no relief in sight. Well, next year should be better

fasteryet,
there's a Chanuka woman?? Yes, Virginia, there's a Chanuka woman
well, I haven't actualy *seen* my family yet, due to the ongoing fiasco with my car thing but I got a big check, and i mean large check from my Mom also a gift certificate to REI from my neice. Other than practical things like paying bills with Mom's gift I plan to replace my bike shorts with new ones for the Lifecycle in June possibly with the PI tights with the chamois.
My sister hand knit me cycling arm warmers, they are so cute i think she should go into the business if the being a tenured sociology college professor does not work out for her ;-) They are black with Norwegian traditional styleized embroidery of figures of women in beaded embroidery around the wrist. I can go from century to opera house ;-)
Hopefully I'll be able to see them and my brother soon and do the gifty thing for them.

Santa took me to Utah. We visited Arches, Canyonlands and Zion National Parks. Didn't do any riding - saving that for warmer weather. But we did do lots of hiking and photography.

!!!WOW!!! Vernoica! What a superb photo!! Truely jaw-drawing! Hats off to Santa, what a great pressie.
Santa must have been looking at the holiday catalogues this year. He took my riding partner to Venice for a few days. She's been longing to go since we went to Italy in June. Marco Polo airport is on the outskirts and as you approach it you fly in low over the city and can see it spread out beneath you. At the time she felt robbed that she got to fly over Venice but not actually visit it. Now she's finally got to visit and had an amazing few days.
spazzdog - vodak choc's... erm...actually an s.p. on my behalf. I meant vodka. You can tell I can't handle my drink - can't even THINK about it without my brain going to mush.:p

I don't post much but lurk daily! I had a post in New Riders awhile back about saddle soreness, well for Christmas Santa (hubby) got me a Selle Italia Lady Flite Gel Saddle and much needed better grade cycling shorts, also got a new helmet. Finally got to test the saddle and shorts out on a short ride a week after Christmas (had six inches of snow on the ground Christmas day). Looking forward to next weekend (it is supposed to be unseasonably warm), and a good long ride to try all the new equipment out. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

MMMM-mmmm! Vodka chocolates sound even better! I may need to get some of those for those "after ride" treats.

My best present was the bananaguard!
It's brilliant - surprisingly it fits any shape and size of banana - don't know what the postman thought of the package though, as it came in a plastic envelope!!
Would recommend this to anyone - no more squished nanas on your bike ride - and you can pick a colour to match your bike/gear!!
