I can't see the pedals in your pic very well, but are they these?

Now that I've discovered how well BMX pedals work for me, I need to get a pair of my own (so I can give the ones I'm using back to SKnot.)

Close, I think they're these

no reflector and open, "drilled" on side and back. I dunno about a Brooks for me. The Avocet is one of the saddles my butt likes. Chris says "phase two" should be some lovely hand-hammered fenders he carries. :)
I also need to figure out storage; under seat bag, handlebar bag. The Nigle Smythe bag I have on the commuter doesn't fit.
I know, isn't it? I'm hearing Disco in the background when I ride ;)
Yeah, the modern black plastic stuff does not really "go" with this bike.
Those Honjo hammered fenders would look nice. :) Lots of Rivendellers use those. But me- I'm a minimalist and I can see your Moto with plain chrome fenders like the classic old ones.
Canvas bags are def the called for thing here. Duluth has a few limited supply canvas bags available right now, and they are VERY cheap compared to other brands:

Apparently they found some boxes of old stock bags and are selling them off.
I have both the banana bag and the Little Joe (which is pretty roomy).
I think you could cover most stuff with a LJoe on the back and a candy bar on the front. Since this is a townie bike, you might want to consider a basket for those loaves of French bread and bottles of wine you might pick up in town. ;) Check out VO's REAL classic baskets:

And here are the fenders (both hammered and smooth) and nice leather mudflaps:

Aaaggghh. This thread is way too dangerous for me. It's making me itch to get to work on my Mercier like you wouldn't believe. Also, my finger keeps hovering over the "Add To Cart" button on that banana bag, with thoughts of, "It'll be sooo pretty on Giselle..." filling my brain. *sigh*
Trek, what a wonderful story and what a beautiful bike!
I AM sorry i didn't do business with your LBS.
Those handlebars, how wide are they?
I also love the photograph... makes me want to get my paints out again!
She's a beauty! Has she got a name yet? I wondered, what with her tea green color and the bell, if maybe there was some item from the tea ceremony that had a name-like name. So I looked up tea ceremony words (a friend of Mom's teaches courses and has a web site). The whisk is called a chasen. What with her spokes, could she answer to the name of chasen?
It's not my bike, but that's a cool name, Duck!
BTW, does Chris carry Nitto bars? I need to pick up a Nitto albatross for the neigbor. Her back-swept bars got stolen and all the bike shops carried here by then was straight bars, which are hard on her wrists and shoulders. So I showed her the albatross on line and she lit up. :D What with the $ so low these days, it's no big deal to pick one up when I'm over there next week, eh? But for getting all the way out to Rivendell in Walnut Creek, that is ... :(
Chris's shop is so small he "carries" very little. I think the term is "just in time" inventory. You want it he can get it with enough notice or a brief notice.
But you really should make the "Pilgrimage" to Rivendell shop  It is so cool, or if you know what kind you want I may be able to pick up.
Road Trip to Rivendell!!!!!
How 'bout next Saturday? We could have lunch in Walnut Creek, too! Bicycle Bonding with Trek420 and DuckOnWheels!
Hi hun, Not next Saturday but the one after that plus it's kinda complex since DoW will just have got off a flight from uhm somewhere in Canada? Our mutual Mom will have driven down to the airport, pick her up, then the plan was to meet us (that's you and me) somewhere along with Mom, DoW and my mutual niece (therefore UK Elephant's cousin) for lunch? Or is that dinner? Depends on the flight, and traffic. Most likely Berkeley since niece (as yet unnamed on TE since she spins sometimes) has small child.
So while negotiations continue I may make a seperate trip to Riv to pick up a bar and we all meet somewhere. Stay tuned.
Trek - that bike looks really cool! Will I get a chance to try it out some day? I was thinking about what pedalling a singlespeed would be like as I pedalled in to work this morning. Don't think I've been on a singlespeed since my three-wheeler when I was a toddler. Oh, and I'm starting to understand the need for more than one bike....will definitely need to find that well-paying job soon....
I haven't been very good at keeping up with everybody, but I have been lurking. Reading your "chattering" is a very welcome break from writing these days. Thank you for letting me eavesdrop :o I'm planning to be more social if only I can get this thesis done and the defense out of the way......though the list of things to catch up on is getting very long! All the riding, all the knitting, the baking, the quilting, the socializing! I'll by busier than ever :D
