Nice 23 mile ride...another beautiful day here in Northern CA.
I think I've reached a turning point here in the "Land Of Newbie-dom"...I'm really having a lot of FUN on my rides and I'm starting to notice the scenery more. Today I noticed a really neat old farmhouse that I've ridden past about 15 times now...I guess I'd never bothered to look anywhere else but straight down the road!

I had a nice 25 mile road ride planned, but got rained out. Rained hard most of the day here. :(

We set out for a 50 mile ride, carefully looking at the weather to judge temperature, radar and forecasted storms. At 18 miles I saw lightning, then heard thunder. Naturally the weatherman was about 8 hours behind on the forecasted storm arrival. These storms developed in the first hour we were out. We started to high tail it home and I flatted on the back tire. DH By then the thunder was close so we called my dad to come rescue us. DH did the fasted flat change I have ever seen him do and we kept riding away from the storm until my parents met us. We finished with 28.69 miles, got home 10 minutes before the storm hit our house.
First time using CO2 though and I am a convert!

Aggie I'm glad your hubby could make short order of the flat and you were strong enough to make it home before the storm. Lightning really gets the adrenaline rolling. I had a nice 29 mile ride. First sunny day we've had in a long time. The wind even went down for my last stretch of the ride.:D I saw 3 deer cross the road at 3 different places. Usually they are in a group together. Weather is still holding out for clouds and storms most the week. I'm going to try and forget the showers and ride anyway-unless storms are brewing.

My roommate Amie and I did a 25 mile ride started the Portola Valley loop, went up Old La Honda (one of the major classic climbs in the area), decended highway 84, and then completed the Portola loop. My climb up Old La Honda, ~ 3 miles with ~1200 ft. elevation gain, was OK, especially given that I had food poisoning Wed night to Thursday, and am just getting back to eating normally. Trying out a new saddle.... going to need some additional tweaking until I can make a decision, so we will see. All in all a good day, and a nice break from the dissertation!
Here is the link to the Garmin info for the ride: http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/2919659

I was able to get 30 miles in. It was warm (88) - I wish I had started earlier. Tried out a new saddle - Terry. I got a little numb in the tail after 20 miles. But I probably am not set right yet. But less chafing on the inner thighs is worth it!

Road Bike Boat Bike with my brother. We did the 50 mile course through the North Fork part of the Hamptons, took a ferry to Shelter Island, road the route around there, ferry back and road through the hamptons to the starting point.
The food was good at the rest stops, ride well organized and they even had wipes in the porta potties.:)
