At my first tri of this year (my 3rd year of racing- but I only did 2 tri's a year for the previous 2 years), I decided to hold back on the back to save it for the run.
Well, I still got a side cramp on the run, even though I slowed down the bike.
What I learned is that my bike doesn't affect the side cramp on the run. My pace on the run affects me. I bought a watch so in my Oly I will PACE my run and keep a 11 minute mile. Anything under that and I am sure to get a side cramp.
