To Fall or Not to Fall....that is the Question.

Last time I had a fall on the mtb and couldn't get pedal unclipped before landing - this summer. Reason: cleat was too loose.

Last time I had a fall that I could have prevented with planting a foot solid on the ground if I could have removed it from my pedal in time - this summer. See reason above.

Last time I tipped over on my mtb bike just because I had not unclipped as I was coming to a stop.....2005. However, not sure this counts as mtb because we were on the road, not sure it counts as road because we were riding mtb's, not sure it counts as a fall because I landed on DH. (wasn't he nice to catch me?) I still got bruises....and was woefully embarassed.

Only fall (knock wood) that I can recall on my road bike was on the trainer last week when it reminded me that the skewer lever needs to be lined up with the notch in the support thingy. Luckily the wall caught me. :D

There have been countless falls over the years, just very few that I would attribute to the pedals. Mostly, it's just been the operator! :p

I fell once soon after I started riding with toeclips about 25 years ago. I went clipless about a month ago, and I have not fallen--and here's the important part--YET.

Hmm, well, I started clipless this March on my MTB - off road. I had the pedals set so they would come out really easy, and somehow have managed not to fall b/c of the clipless pedals. Came very close, as in jerking my foot out (like I said, loose) and catching myself at the very last second. Usuallyany close calls I had were at slow speed, ooh, look at her tumble! :rolleyes: Any complete falls were at higher speeds, and I doubt I would have caught myself even if I hadn't been clipped in.

My road bike, I haven't had any issues with yet. I've gotten close a couple of times, but so far (knock on wood), I'm still upright.
