They're done! Went to work with Thom and while he futzed with computers I did my report cards. Didn't ride - but it was nice to be with my honey.

Well, after 2 months of waiting i finally got to go to the Spoke and Sprocket
bike shop in Tacoma Washington. To my great disappointment they only had 1 Mondonico bike set up, and it was way bigger than anything I could ride.
Further, they said that the brothers Mondonico were retiring and he was not certain of what the bikes from the new shop would be like...
So I don't imagine I will ever GET a Mondonico.
I asked the fellow what he does for people built like me (average woman size)
that want a nice bike. ANd he said he puts them on Serotta's.
Then upon hearing more about my interests (steel, but not necessarily custom) and needs he mentioned Waterford.
I hadn't told him that I wanted an Italian bike. So next stop... Sammamish bikes
to talk about Marinoni.. Not in any hurry here, I have 3 bikes to ride right now.
I find the Fremantle doctor very interesting. GOod to know that Australia has a way to cool off!
We had a nice enough Turkey day; except that the drive south - 140 miles
took 5 hours!! no, we don't have a traffic problem!!
ARGH!
Thanksgiving in a box, courtesy of Safeway. Meh. Not so great, and with all the reheating you have to do, you're just as busy in the kitchen as if you cooked an entire meal. The sweet potatoes were really good...oh yeah, Mom made those  Oh, and my niece brought a wonderful bottle of wine - Frei Brothers Cabernet
I finished my secret sister shopping today. I'm so late! I hope to get it boxed and mailed tomorrow.
Ahh, in primary we have:
Not yet meeting
approaching
meeting
exceeding
:expectations
Know what you mean about being with your honey. Erik and I share an office and sit side by side working on report cards. He has more than me though since he teaches intermediate....
Let in snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Great big beautiful flakes tonight. Thankfully it waited until I had driven the little guy all the way out to his dad's. After school, I dragged dh around the mall while I tried on sexy black party dresses but didn't buy anything. I just don't look good in black. Might have to find an alternative. Now we're back with a bottle wine and a movie (Davinci Code). Report cards are behind us, there's a couple of inches of snow in the yard, life is good. :D
And the good news is - I can wear a size 6 again!!! OMG, I was trying on dresses and steering towards the size 8's after wearing 10s' for the past few years and they were hanging on me. Finally decided to see if I could squeeze into a 6 and lo and behold, it fit! When I got home, ran to my closet and pulled out 4 pairs of pants that I haven't been able to wear in two years and they fit!!! I am so happy... :) Wonder if I'll ever fit into a 4 again? Oh well, a girl can dream. I just want to get down to 115 lbs so I can get up hills easier...
Sounds like Black Friday is similar to our Boxing Day - biggest shopping day of the year.
Snap - what is TG in a box???
CWR - sorry your feet are bothering you - what is it? I know, I should go back an reread to find out...
TG in a box - you order a fully prepared dinner from the grocery store. It came with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, dinner rolls, and cranberry sauce. Everything is cooked, it has to be reheated.
Everyone's so quiet- still in TG Coma?
Just returned from having a drink and a chat with Jobob. Very nice. We both decided to go with the Riesling -Edgefield. Don't know the year but very sweet, nose of pear and apricot.
We chatted about TE, of course, and had lots of fun. Got the tour of the Grand Lodge. At one point there was some excitement because a guy was in the hot tub "soaking pool" sans shorts "acting weird" so we reported him to the front desk. Aside from that, much relaxed chatting until we both felt like we were going to fall asleep. I'm pretty close to being there. (asleep, that is) yays!
so good luck to Jobob, and hoping she and Leebob have good weather for tomorrow... and Jobob says hi. :D
KG congrats on the new size! go you!
feet: bunionettes (started a thread a while ago in health issues) and they are getting worse. now i have a wound ontop of one that won't heal. i don't own a single pair of shoes that won't make them hurt. :( its so frustrating.
have a good night TD.
Ohhh...I just received a cool email from the Ironman WA volunteer Co-ordinator...discounts on merchandise..I'm excited about next weekend!! Not just for the merchandise(I get a cool Ironman volunteer shirt anyways..) but for the atmosphere.
I see a few funky chrissie pressies for some of our Ironman ladies....:D
I promise to take photos & give you a report. Keeping my fingers crossed for nice weather next weekend down in bussleton.

I did a "donation release" today. A local resident...111 years old...the nations oldest WW1 veteran. I had read about it. Gov. Busch had given him a certificate last month. He was in the same "trailer" since 1960, he was so cute...and I thought, so alone. I called the funeral director and asked if he thought they might like a dove release. I had been at that cemetary several times. I brought 12 birds. Ended up that the relatives kept coming up wanting to release a bird. I originally asked "would a family member like to release the single white bird, representing the soul?" They all wanted to. I reached in and got a bird for each one. It really was very moving. There wasn't one of them with a dry eye. Most of them kissed the bird. I was amazed at the media there. Have already received some pictures (via email) from The Observer. Watched Fox news and I WAS ON IT!!!! If any of you in Fl get it, I bet it will be on later tonight. FOX news. The family thanked me so many times. The funeral director thanked me several times. Man, do I feel good. Thought I would share. God, I love what I do. Someday, I might even make money doing it!!! In the mean time, you can't put a price on how it makes me feel.

Sarasota Dove Release
Sarasota, FL
Nanci, how sweet! Thanks for sharing it. Where does your friend get the birds they release? I love the idea of releasing a bird representing the soul. L.
She raises them. They are pure white homing pigeons.
Nanci
Very cool Nanci! What a wonderful thing to do.
I had the please of meeting an 85 year old pilot yesterday. Flew in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. I could have sat and listened to him all night....
CWR - sorry to hear the feet are still giving you grief. I hope you're able to get them taken care of soon.
KG - congrats on the new size! That's a great feeling indeed.
OTG - hope you had a great ride. Great job on keeping the eating under control for TG. I wish I were more like you.
So my 'puters been down for a few days. Had a friend look at it and peoplepc had me pointing to a server that's broken. He's got a temp fix for me hear so I can chat with you guys.
I finally got my SS gift all wrapped and I'll be heading to the PO shortly. I think one of my doggies has a bladder infection and the vets office is closed - any ideas what to do to help her for the weekend?
hey Kit - how's the weather out there?
CWR- Sorry your feet are bothering you... =(
Dar- try cranberry pills?
X- Come on out here and see for yourself!
CWR - I had bunions on both feet and had them "done" when I was 19. Not sure if the surgery is any less archaic now than it was back then (1979). Haven't had any problems since though. So what's a bunionette? Like a regular bunion, but cuter?
Woke up to 5-6 inches of snow this morning. The dogs are loving it. They act so crazy n the snow.
Kitsune06 "Just returned from having a drink and a chat with Jobob. Very nice."
Pictures, we want pictures....you can leave your sunglasses on.
Nanci-thanks for sharing the link. I always wondered what happens to the released birds. Duh, never thought of it, homing pigeons.
CWR-I am sorry about your feet.
Dar-I have no clue. Is there a 24hr vet? Tell the dog to drink lots and lots of water? poor pup.
Kit- Where are Jobob and Leebob headed? Are they touring up the coast?
Congrats to everyone who has snow and likes snow. I'm off to walk the pup. I've started Mae the mutt on glucosamine, I've heard it helps dogs. At 6 I'm noticing she has a little hitch in her gidyup.
Good Morning TD!
Nanci-thanks for sharing such a beautiful, touching story. :)
CWR-I certainly hope you get some relief soon. I am sorry your feet are hurting so badly.
Dar-I have no idea other than an animal hospital?
KG-congrats on the new size and on the SNOW! I am very envious of the snow. It is still in the 60s here. :(
CC-have a wonderful time at Ironman WA next weekened.
Kit- It sounds as though you and Jobob had a lovely time together. You are fortunate to be able to meet up with other TE'ers. :D
Off to have some coffee and a late breakfast and figure out how best to spend my time today.
CWR - how are the feet today? any better? sucks you can't walk around barefoot up there. I'd rather be without shoes all the time if I could. Hate shoes.
Nanci - very nice girl, very nice.
Dar - no one on call at the vet? what makes you think it's a bladder infection? dog going more lately, history of bladder infection, overweight... (that's usually a big contributor) I'd try cranberry but I'm not sure how the dog's digestion will take it. should be fine but... Careful, diabetes and bladder infection have many of the same symptoms and causes. Make sure they do a blood test while you're there, just to be safe.
Kit - Oh, you have no idea how I agonized over this response. (Or maybe you do. ;)) So I just checked the weather channel instead. Portland area is chilly and wet I see. You could probably use some warmth and sunshine to blow through and make it all better. Maybe a nice relaxing day out with a friend or two to perk you right up. A nice long ride to get the blood flowing again. :D
Thanks for the chat this morning, dear. Very fun.
Well, gotta a wedding to attend. See ya TE TD. I hope you all get a chance to enjoy the day. Be safe.
X.
Nanci - Just watched the video - wow, what a cool old guy! Loved the belly dancer request. :)
Dar - hope the puppy is feeling better. I thought one of my dogs had a bladder infection one day. She was out peeing every 10 minutes. Then after a few hours she stopped just as quickly. Still took her in the nest day and the vet couldn't find anything...
Well we're off to bottle beer, do a few errands, get our christmas lights up, and figure out how to use the trainer that I bought for $10 at a garage sale a year ago. Have a nice day TD!
Jobob's doing this ride.
and staying at the Grand Lodge. Nice place.
No pics, unfortunately, my camera's dead, and Jobob didn't get any pics. haha, I'll live in anonymity and unphotogenic-ness!
This may change yet, if I can pry DGF out of bed for brunch w/ the Bobs tomorrow morning... I caught some 10 or so cyclists coming up Scholls-Ferry, not sure if that was the randonneur group or not.
X- I know how you agonized, and I am still impressed. A ride sounds absolutely wonderful, actually. I'm pretty sure that's how oregonians keep from freezing in the winter. Once you're wet, you pretty much stay that way, anyway.
Trek- Jo recognized me even without the shades! ;)
X - Yup, AG took very good care of me. Bike shop guy was very nice and took the time to take all kinds of measurements and got out this weird protractor thing to check out my angles and such. It turns out, he says my stem is perfect! He said my top tube length is equal to AG's and she rides a 54 cm frame. I guess I did a super job ordering my bike after all! :D He said my saddle height is OK, fore/aft was spot on, etc. Go me. It'd be pretty expensive to go to a triple (would need new brake levers and maybe derailer), but he's going to set me up with a compact crank that is almost the same gearing as a triple would have been. And the switch to the compact crank is far less money, so I get more to spend on bike stuff.
And if you want a ride report, well, AG cracked the whip, but it felt GREAT.
AG - Thanks again so much for your hospitality. :D
CC - Have fun at your Ironman! It is soooo motivational to see an Ironman. If you do take pics of the leaders, please share! I also got a neat pin when I volunteered.
BMO3 - I hope you're cleared! Then I want a review of the Spinervals because I should probably get at least one. I tend to just kinda poke around when I'm on the training watching old TDF or Ironman videos.
In other news ...
I busted it and I lost all the weight I had gained. Yes! Official weigh in is Tuesday, so I might even come in with a loss after all.
And after weeks of you guys listening to me whine about it, I *finally* bit the bullet and ordered a heart rate monitor. I got it on 2-day delivery, so hopefully AG's bike shop can help me set up the cadence stuff on the bike. (AG said that LBS only has 1 model in the store.) I'm going to move my road bike's computer to my commuter if I can figure out how to do so.
I also ordered some stuff from TE on Thursday night or Friday morning and I got them TODAY. Talk about speedy. And I got some cool triathlon cycling socks. Sweet. Looking forward to spinning with my new shorts, too. The chamois is much nicer than my other pairs.
dar sorry about the pup. no advice, but i feel bad.
mimi they are bunions on the little toe side instead of the big toe side.
x they aren't feeling any better today. i'm at the PO working and i'm wearing my fuzzies. they definatly don't make it hurt and they keep my feet warm too!!!
cc have fun!
had a short stint of mock-productivity. Ran outside to clean my car out (finally). No one needs to know the mess it was. Sat there debating whether or not to wash it, but you know what? it's november. In Oregon. Off a gravel road. It'll get washed... someday. Probably right before my next hot date.
still totally enjoying the cozy den. I turn laziness into an artform.
:D
oh, and to tie this in to cycling somehow, I also poked around on my bike earlier, adjusting the brooks etc. Turns out my KOP was way too far back, so I skootched the saddle foreward a bit and it seemed to take some weight off my hands. whatever. We shall see.
Chica- glad you've got the fuzzies. :D I can't imagine they're technically 'kosher' for postie-wear, but who cares? :D
Any of you experienced with trainers? I have dumb questions in the OT forum. :o
OK, that was a blast! I think I am going to love the trainer. At least a whole lot more than the exercise bike.
kelownagirl "Any of you experienced with trainers? I have dumb questions in the OT forum. :o"
ok, twist my arm. I posted some answers. Enjoy the trainer.
I saw your response - thank you, thank you Trek! :D
Yay - they just issued a heavy snowfall warning. We're supposed to get 20-25 cm (8-10 inches?) tonight and tomorrow. (Not huge amounts like you get back east but lots for around here.) We just got our lights up and it looks so pretty with all the snow right now. (Sorry BMO - hope you get some soon....)
KG-I am so happy for you and so sad for me. Enjoy the snow for me, please? We hit 66F today. :( Make some snow angels for me, please? Oh and catch snow flakes on your tongue as well. :D
Enjoy the trainer. :) I love mine, miss it, but love it.
CWR-I am glad you wore your fuzzies to help keep your toes happy. Please stay off your feet when not working. For me? Just until you see the doctor.
OTG-I will give a report as soon as I am able. :)
My husband and twins went out a bought a tree. Needless to say it is beyond huge. It is wider than my love seat. I will post a pic once it is decorated.
heh. I was on that tangent earlier, elsewhere. Relationships are either 50 50 or someone gives way too much. Eventually, hopefully, that giver snaps and says "Woah hang on, what am I DOING?!" but... sadly, not always. What would happen if suddenly the giver stopped? The relationship would likely disintegrate... the give/take balance would be completely disrupted.
I wish people would wake up, too... but it's not bloodly likely. So a**holes will keep using perfectly wonderful, warm, sweet people and convincing those sweet people that they're "lucky to have them around.".
ok, I'm mad. Off to have a pleasant evening w/ DGF (who is pretty 50 50, and if not, I think I'd be the taker, there....)
....and I'm damm lucky. I know I am.
we have a snow warning too. Probably means some flurries or some icy rain
but hey, beggars can't be choosy.
I heard that, too, Mimi. I'm up or snow or sluch, or anything like it.
Snow angels...some for mee too...Remember not to eat any yellow snow...
UGH..It's 35c today...hot n humid..
c
Thats why I'm divorced after 22 years of marriage. It took awhile to figure it out.
Cyclchk (or however you spell that) - are you having a bad day relationship-wise? Sorry... But the answer is yes. Even with mr. perfect, there are still things I wonder about. Why do I put up with that? I guess it's mostly because the good things so far overshadow the little bad things that it's worth it. Nobody's perfect, especially not me.
So what did he do today?
*reads CC's post*
i'm going to think of it as fahrenheit. Fahrenheit.... fahrenheit...
"Gosh, CC, that's terrible weather! Much pity! My condolences!" ;)
hmmmm..dear kit..am i going to have to slap you silly with a wet fish?
This is only the start of my whinges over the summer here in Perth. It's not hot yet...
If you really want to, you can check out the weather in west aust.
