The good one. :D I head back up North right after Chrissy. Only 300-and-something posts to go before I catch up! :p

Snap - I lost 2 lbs this week too! Las Vegas, puking, whatever works eh? Your way was more fun though...
CWR- more disturbing amts of 'cute' for ya:
http://www.impleader.com/photos/blog...20penguins.jpg
Isn't that adorable?! I made a big 4x5 mosiac of baby penguins so whenever my trainer gets *****y with me, I hold up the baby penguin mosiac and she's 'cuted' into a good mood again. Woohoo! :D
I miss Knot posting drunk. IDon't drink and post@ You say knotty things. :D Or you're unsubtly punny. :D Go ahead, someone provoke me! I wanna chat with someone.
I'll chat with you Kit. Go to messenger... I gotta hear what you've got to say while you're drunk. Just can't have you doing it here. :D
I'm *there*! click on the Y! link next to my avatar! :D
...or the AIM or MSN. I'm not picky. H*LL I'm cool with 'em all. :D
I second what Lise said. I argued and ignored my inner voice for 6 1/2 years. I probably missed some wonderful potential relationships because I tried too hard to stay in the one I was in. But I ended up where I am, so I can't complain or kick myself too much!
Trust your gut instincts.
Mmmmmm, beef stew. Fresh from the crock pot. Much better than the steak I tried to cool last night. Mmmmm.
Just saw a great Nova episode about the "Clovis First" theory and how there were actually 3 major waves of human immigration to the Americas during the stone age. (the first was from Europe, the latter two from Siberia/Asia)
Now I'm watching "House". Don't watch TV that much, so this is fun.
kit i could keep one? now you tell me. here i thought i had to send all of them back. i wonder if the mail got dispatched out, maybe i can break in and get that back. though its a little hard to break into the post office when you have a key.
thanks snap. very cute! (i like yours too kit, is that movie any good?) congrats on the weight loss. i lost 5 lbs on my "diet" but after today and all the buckeye's i think i gained it all back.
knot i think i'm trying to smother my inner voice with a pillow, but it keeps coming up in the bad times. i know what it says, just not ready to accept it.
KnottedYet "Just saw a great Nova episode about the "Clovis First" theory and how there were actually 3 major waves of human immigration to the Americas during the stone age. (the first was from Europe, the latter two from Siberia/Asia)"
I knew about the Siberia thing.....Europe? How'd they? Oh, continental drift (similar to TE TD)
"Now I'm watching "House". Don't watch TV that much, so this is fun"
Funny, I'm watching that too. Spun a little bit now resting and watching TV.
CWR have you tried smothering your inner voice in chocolate? I find that helps. But seriously, listen to your inner voice.
Knott, bummer about the bowl. Finnish pottery is great. I wonder when they do archeological digs and find pottery shards if say for example ancient Roman who broke it was saying "bummer, I dropped the handpainted Greek bowl and it was full of delicious stew".
Kelownagirl, yep, I loooooove tile for many reasons; looks great, durable, holds heat for natural energy savings....but not on kitchen floors. Makes everything a "one bouncer".
Bummer, I just dropped my bowl (no stew in it) and busted it into a kazillion pieces. It was a handpainted handmade bowl from Finland I've had for about 6 years. Bummer.
Oooh, that IS a bummer... :( I've been breaking more stuff since I moved into this house with its tile floors in the kitchen. If it drops, it breaks...
It is really fun to watch TV "with" someone when you're on the phone together.
Not as much fun as if you were on the couch together REALLY watching TV, but fun anyway.
sigh... :o
w00t! I made it. It's only taken me four days to catch up on all the TD that I missed by not being online much for two or three weeks. Of course, I'm going away for five days on Friday, so I'll just get all behind again. Y'all gab too much! :p
Yes, these chickies do gab alot don't they!!! Something in the water?
I'm sitting here wondering about my new Polar cycling hrm/cadence computer. The cadence part doesn't seem to work but we have the sensor in the right place. I saw a thread about it but thought i might ask you ladies.
c
CC: Which heart rate model did you get? Can you wear it on your wrist, too, or does it stay on the bike? Let me know how that works out. I'm still on the fence about which model to get. I should make up my mind soon because the big paycheck comes in 2 days! :D Although I suspect my new crank and stem will eat up a good portion of it.
Bikingmom: I actually had $21,000 in debt after college (student loan and a used car). I worked two jobs for a while and did the Dave Ramsey thing until I paid off my last debt Sept. 1.
Update on me: Well, my trainer kicked my butt anyway. And I felt so sluggish and yucky because of gaining some weight back. I could really feel it.
He said some encouraging things, but basically something in my head just said, "What the heck are you doing? Ruining your dreams for some donuts? Not smart."
So, back to eating healthier. Somehow I suspect I won't be able to relose the extra pounds as quickly as I regained them. Doesn't seem fair, does it?
I bet I'm not going to have anything to do at work today. No one is here. The time goes soooooo slowly when there's absolutely nothing to do. I should have brought my iPod, but I forgot it.
1. The inner voice Lise mentioned never lies...
2. Happy early Thanksgiving from Albany NY, where I'm with my mom for the holiday. She is doing well in subacute rehab now, will probably go to assisted living in month or so. She is feeling so much better that she is starting to kick *** and take names at the nursing home where she's doing the rehab. It's very funny.
Inner voice test question:
A friend of mine once told me her "test question" for relationships. I've always liked it. "Is your world larger or smaller with this person in it?"
My problem has always been that I think "well, it could get better later" and stick around much longer than I should. If it wasn't that good before, and isn't that good now, it probably won't be so good later, either.
Not that I'm giving advice! I'm just pondering out loud with my first cup of coffee.
Knot, that's an awesome question to ask! I'm gonna start using it if you don't mind.
The literacy fair was alright. Too structured for me and a very high energy child! They had 3 20 minute work stations and they had to sit and listen and/or draw at each. Very hard for my little guy. I was wiped out at the end of it and then he had to cry and throw a fit when it was time to go. Ugh.
My friend Scott (the pilot guy with the heart valve problem) is gonna be within a hour or so of me today. But I can't find a sitter for my little guy so I can go see him. He's having his heart surgery on the 29th, so if you could start praying for him I would appreciate it. I'm hoping I can take my little guy down to go see him or see him this weekend, either way, I'd like to give him a hug before his surgery. He's only 43 - it just blows me away. And the FFA will be grounding him for 6 months because of it and then he has to go through a bunch of tests to get his license back.
Off to work, yippee!
happy txgiving Salsa I am glad to hear your mom is doing better. It's nice that she's taking charge again.
Knot, sorry about the bowl. every time something like that happens to me I go on a big inner arguement about being attached to inanimate objects, etc.. Going to catholic school as a kid really screwed me up.
That's an interesting test question. and you can't answer it too fast.
In some ways, I have less freedom with DH around but in others, he has opened up some seriously HUGE doors..
All of you guys worrying about weight, just remember tomorrow PORTION size.
eat tiny bits of everything.
quick post...
OTG - keep up the good work. you can have little backslides and still be ok. have fun at the 3hr spin on friday! i can't go, have to work. you two ride twice as hard for me, ok? after everything calms down, dinner and hot tub party at my house for the PA girls. AG is going on vacation soon so we'll figure it out after that. get that bike taken care of too. AG has a good shop and they'll treat you right.
congrats on no debt! very nice. i don't have any student loans. couldn't get grants either. had to pay every last cent myself. paid as i went. a bit impoverishing. would still do it again, only sooner. got a little CC debt yet that is just about gone. of course, with bike stuff, vacation, x-mas gifts... it never ends.
Salsa - so glad to hear your Mom is getting the old spit and vinegar back. it's good for the body and soul.
Kit - Hmmm, i guess we said it all last night, huh? BTW, how's your head this morning? Mine's just fine.
CWR - nice of you to join us for a chat. very fun. yer gonna need to start drinking earlier hon so you can keep up. stash a bottle at work maybe. :D
Lise - hope you get to spend some time with J. for the holiday. i'm so happy for you both.
Ladies - very good relationship comments and advice. (for all of us) thanks. much appreciated. ;) :)
well, ran out of time. see ya all later! be safe.
Phone trouble.
My cell is giving me shocks when I touch it, and it doesn't recieve calls. Won't hold a charge very long, either. (probably cuz it's pumping all the electricity into my hand instead of the phone)
Obviously I'm gonna have to break down and buy a new phone one of these days. Anybody know of a "bombproof" trimodal cell phone? The kind that is tough as nails? I've had this one about 5 months.
I don't need a camera phone or an MP3 player phone. I just need a plain ol' super-sturdy trimodal phone. Damp-proof, drop-proof, Knot-proof. "Ugly as sin and tough as old leather."
Yup, I need me a butch cowboy phone. (One that works with Verizon... the "can you hear me now? Damm..." company)
I am just checking in to say I am alive-it has been a very bad 14 1/2 hours (not that I am counting) and not getting better with meds. :(
Knot-I am sorry about the bowl. I loved Finland. I wish I would have bought something other than a warm jacket for living in the USSR.
It is fun watching TV with someone via the phone, sorry you two were not together. Oh yes, get a new phone. Mine is ano frills phone and has gone on numerous trips with the boys and still keeps on working. It was one of the free phones with plan.
OTG-slip ups are going to happen, it is best to make peace with them early on or you will drive yourself crazy. Been there, trust me. You are doing fantastic. Oh, just for you, I pulled out the scale (I despise scales). In one day I weighed 6-8 pounds more, depending on the time of day. The morning was cool, later add 6 pounds, later back to cool, later added 2 more for and 8 pound gain. Scales are crazy, evil things. Clothing and measurements, those I like.
Congrats on succeding with Dave Ramsey. he has a great approach. If debt would stop piling up, I may get caught up. I came out of school with +$70,000 in student loan debt. I am on the "to death" payment plan. A house did not help, all the repairs. $17,000 in orthodontics. The list goes on. :(
Again, be very happy you do not have debt and be proud. :D
About HRM-I want the Polar RS200SD. I have read awesome things about this model: Polar S625x it does the same as what I want, but also has an added cycling computer, which I do not need.
Kit and X and CWR-glad you all had a lovely chat last night. :)
Salsa-I am pleased to hear of your mom's progress. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. :)
Lise-Have a great first Thanksgiving with J. :D
Dar-your friend will be in my prayers. Keep us updated.
DD-congrats on getting caught up.
I know I am missing a lot, but I need more medication, ice packs, heating pad, and my pillow.
I hope to be back on today or tomorrow.
If not, I hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving!
knot i like that question, but don't like the answer i had with it. i need to keep that in mind for future also. sorry about things breaking and shocking you. you must have some force around you. can you heal me?
salsa glad your mum is doing better. happy turkey day to you too.
X and kit yes it was fun. glad my head isn't hurting this morning.
OTG i know how it is, slip-ups happen, trust me i know. try not to beat yourself up about it.
BM3 take care of yourself. get some rest. TD will be here when you feel better.
X, too bad you can't make The Great Turkey Torturefeast ... er, I mean 3-hour Black Friday spinning class. Sorry you have to work; bummer. Not sure I can do the entire class. My longest ride in recent months has been 2:20. I plan to take frequent breaks and see if I can just finish, but if not, no big deal. AG is going to help me out with the stem. We'll see how the crank replacement discussion goes.
BMo3: 8 pounds in a day? Wow. But I do really need to nip this thing in the bud. And it's totally not just about the scale saying I weigh more -- I can feel the difference in my body, too. I ate well last night and today, though, so I'm headed back in the right direction.
For Thanksgiving, my goal is just not to go overboard with the snacking. It's tough because at my grandmother's house there will be at least 8-10 different desserts -- no one loves pumpkin pie as much as I do -- as well as chips, pretzels, M&Ms, cheese balls, etc. etc. sitting out all day. Oh, and lebanon and cream cheese rolls, a family tradition. Yummy. *drools*
But if I can keep the snacking in check and stick mainly with baby carrots, I'll be fine.
Knot: Tough break about the phone. Only 5 months? Isn't it under some sort of warranty?
good thing about living in the bush: don't really celebrate holidays so don't over eat.
bad thing about living in the bush: miss celebrating holidays and trying not to over eat.
KnottedYet "It is really fun to watch TV "with" someone when you're on the phone together."
yes it is :)
Sorry about the cell phone thing and overheating? That's bad.
I don't know how butch my phones are but I've had good luck with Nokia. They seem well made I still have my first one (I just renew the plan, get new phone, keep the old one because if phone breaks just pop in the chip and voila. I'm bad, I don't carry the insurance).
My Samsung worked well till the keys wore out
Motorolas seems to fall apart on the dot at a year.
If I had to get another phone mid contract the best deals seem to be either online on your carriers site or at the box stores Circuit City is pretty good.
OTG - 3 hour spin class?? That just sounds crazy. I'd rather battle the cold and be outside. Sweaty stale gym air is my idea of torture.
BM03 - **gentle hugs** girl. Hope you're feeling better soon. I don't know how you handle it.
CWR - it's the crazy family stuff that makes a holiday for me:p Mom's dressing is good too, don't get me wrong. Our holidays haven't been the same since my grandparents passed. Mom still struggles and you can feel that pain. That's what old fashions and Manhattans are for!
Salsa - good to hear your mom is doing better. That's gotta make you feel better.
Knot - take X in with you to complain about the phone. I hear she does this neat trick with her hands around their necks, pinned against the wall, feet off the floor thing. I think it would work for you;)
Gotta get a few last minute cases done before the kids arrive for T-day. Gonna make my special request 2 roast chicken feast.
All you girls have a great thanksgiving, you hear me?
Let's all be thankful for the things we have. Life can be tough and with painful challenges and overwhelming obstacles. That is when we must remember that we have food, a warm dwelling, friends, and loved ones. So many people on our planet actually have NONE of these things. It's hard to imagine their suffering.
Thanksgiving good wishes and love to all the good women on TE! :)
good grief!! talk about over eating!! the two other women in the department have taken it upon themselves to feed the masses. we have cookies, crackerss, cheese, Venison jerky, smoked salmon, apple slices!!!
there's A LOT of it too.
mmmmm...... http://qb.smugmug.com/photos/102799722-Ti.gif venison jerkey... my favorite.
yes, it's REALLY good.
and i brought a lunch!
:(
"Can you hear m.... oops"
Verizon took my phone apart and played with it a little. They said it's fine, must just be that my towers don't pick up calls and I was static-y when I touched my phone the last couple days.
Yeah, ok. We'll see.
I don't want to miss those very important phone calls! Those vital communiques about Hugh Laurie's character's latest escapades, how the dog did on her walk, and what someone is eating for dinner! Crucial information, I tell you! Crucial!
BMo3 - sleep. rest. recover. Kit can always give you the Clif's notes version of what's been up on TD.
Mimi- smoked salmon!!!! Oooooh!
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I'll be in Canada for the day. Heading up to my mom's in a couple hours. Whooo-hooo!
Knot - FWIW, you might want to take the phone back into your local store and have them check the battery. I think it kinda melted down a bit inside and is "cross-firing". In other words, it's not grounded right anymore. Won't keep a charge cause it's feeding against itself and back into the frame work and your hand. Won't let you recieve either because of ground issues. Do it soon as it will slowly destroy your inner circuitry from feedback. Hope that's all it is. After only 5 months, it should be covered right? Otherwise, I'd go with a Nokia next time. I've currently got 2 Motorolas but not happy with the reception or that I can't adjust the volume enough to hear the ringer or people on the other side clearly. My Nokias worked great through all kinds of beatings until I upgraded to newer technology. Good luck.
Edit: Or not. Hope it stays ok for you.
OTG - Yeah wish I could be there. I'm sure you'll have fun without me tho. You can do it, just pace yourself and make sure you can talk a little. Then you know you're at the right pace to finish. I'll be careful with my choice of foods when I get you two over for dinner. We don't need all of us gaining weight over it. :o I love the lebanon bologna and cream cheese wraps too. Some PA Dutch traditions are hard to break, huh? I like sweet the best. Let me know how the LBS does for you. I like to patronize small businesses and would drive to out another good LBS just "to see".
BMo3 - Dear, maybe the garage door dude was just too much for ya. You know, anytime you have an over-abundance of studdliness and need to unload, keep us in mind. Hope you are feeling better today.
(((((BMo3)))))
Well, gotta go for now. Some of the girls at work want me to show them www.zillow.com. It's a neat site if you haven't checked it out yet.
cya ladies! Be safe and happy.
X.
Mimi, ummmm. All I brought was a lean cuisine and a yogurt and my yogurts gone:( There's only 3 of us left in the shop. And we're all talking about leaving early....
X - my city isn't on zillion. Guess that's cuz I live in the pickers.
Yeah, my friend Scott called and we will meet up later. That makes me happy today.
I can't concentrate. I want to go walk my dogs, or ride my bike, or play outside with my son. It's a balmy 50 degrees here! Have a great Thanksgiving Day everyone.
ah mtbdarby
I hope you get to go out and play. I took a walk and discovered that my coat is not water repellent. It is VERY wet here.
(but you've all heard me say that already several times this month)
your town is not on Zillow? I thought EVERYTHING was there. My house is, it's worth a fortune, 3x what we paid for it; or are still paying for it!
yeah, the salmon was good. Once upon a time, Salmon was even more plentiful here. We haven't forgotten it.
Knot's phone problem sounded misdiagnosed to me too! X, you could be right.
Dh just bought himself a Selle anatomica. It's bright red with black rails.
It's apparently waterproof leather, so he won't be able to ruin it by riding in the rain like he ruined his old Brooks.
For Black friday, we are going to AT LEAST two bike shops as we head towards home from the south part of the state.
I will give full reports on each shop; i've never been to either.
don't worry dar, my house isn't on there either or the city for that matter. i did look up a few places in anchorage just for fun though. have fun with your friend.
CWR - NICE card! LMAO. I thought dogs at first, but considering the sent to list, I thought maybe Kit and X got together for a little holiday cheer. BWAAHAAA:D (can you tell I'm getting punchie to get out of here?!)
Mimi, no rain yet. At the most I'll be able to leave at 4:00 cuz I skipped lunch. Of course, I'm hungry now since half my lunch was missing:( Have fun at the bike shops - let us know what you get!
i knew you could enjoy that xmas card! at least someone was getting action in it.
woo hoo! i get done two hours early and don't have to work tomorrow. ahh i love it.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!!
Feel better BMO3. (((BMO3)))
