wow, THAT is expensive first aid
Yep - ER visits are very expensive. My little 2 1/2 hour visit for my gall bladder was about $2600.
And you haven't even got the doctor's bill yet ...
I have selective memory loss of my ER bill from the bike wreck last year - but it included x-rays, knee brace, and crutches. Seemed it took a couple of months for my portion of the bill to come.
Shall we compare tomorrow's surgery bill??? :p:rolleyes:
I guess I shouldn't complain over my expensive first aid :)
Those urgent care/medical aid places are awesome. Depending on your insurance, they can be waaaaaaaaay cheaper. (And yes, DH and I are both well acquainted with them :o)
Beware though - if the urgent care is affiliated with a hospital (which in a lot of semi-rural areas, that's all there is), they will bill as the ER. I didn't know that, so it cost me $600 for a minor rash last year... (I shouldn't say that, because I do have insurance. That's what someone with no insurance would've paid. :( )
Luckily I'm still on my parents' health insurance, so we only paid $100 of it. (Getting them to see that I'm unemployed and don't have other insurance, however...)
Dear State of Illinois,
Thanks for finally offering us the opportunity to "get legal" after 21 years together with the new civil union law... we'll be at the courthouse tomorrow morning.
Grateful citizen.
