I like "Dova" and "Cycle".

NANCI - please tell me you were kidding when you asked who the Talking Heads are........... yes, watch one of their videos. (I must be getting so old....) Oh and when are we going to get to see a pic of your walkway?? You are giving me inspiration here.....
SNAP - the Stones must have been awesome!!! I am so jealous. Glad you had a great time. And has Prince taken his name back or is he still the "artist formerly known as..."?? (I love Prince BTW)
CWR - I agree. I like your avitar now. Suits your name.
KIT - hows the new job? Think you are going to like it? Yeh to the shower and bike locker!
BOM - sorry can't help with the buff..... never wore one, probably never will.
Helowowowowo kids,
Snap-I'm jealous. I sure hope you boogied extra hard for me and threw kisses at mick.
Keith richards...what planet is he on again? I'm sure over the years through all that haze, quite a few.
If Nanci's path doesn't work she could be " On the Road to Nowhere" and for the snake that doesn't eat as well.
BMO3-Your package is being sent today. Sure hope the anzac buscuits don't get crushed.
Buff headgear is great except in the summer when it's 35c.
Ciao for now my dearies to the north
c
Thanks for the Buff suggestions. When I briefly lived in the USSR I wore scarves all the time, I still have them, but they are definitely not wicking or breathable, but very, very warm. I almost pulled one out last night to run with, to keep my nose and mouth warm. Unfortunately, when the scarves get moist they freeze. So, buff it is.
I'm sorry, X, I'm still giggling over how long it takes you to post anything, anywhere. I take it your thumb's not better?
*hugs*
spokewench i am down in phoenix right now. i'm here till weds morning then i fly back up to alaska.
the spa day went well. i was able to relax during the facial and massage. funny how this massage was completely different from the other one. i guess i got all the bad kinks worked out with the first one. that and totally different therapist who has a completely different technique. the mani and pedi with the girl i use to work with was a blast. got caught up on all the salon gossip. gotta love it. tomorrow i get my hair done. woo hoo! total makeover, well kinda.
kit glad the first day of work went well.
snap glad you had a good time. OH!!!!!! how could i forgit. i now know someone that works at the Valley Ho. tried to get him to get me a t-shirt, no go yet, still working on it. i want one that says spa ho.
yup gotta love rosie. she's a good pal of mine, always keeps my spirts up. so i figured i should put her back as the avitar for a while.
well its bed time. night!
Glad the spa etc went well, chica. :)
I'm debating going to bed now, too. I just know I wouldn't sleep, though. *sigh* or I would, then I'd wake up again at 4am. I really need to lay off the caffeine. :D
Sleep well!
I'm back in Seattle. 15 hr drive up from SF.
I'm tiiiiiiiiiiiiired!!
Will post pics (if my camera behaves and downloads like it should this time) tomorrow. I hope.
Night, y'all!ddd
Snap - has your voice recovered yet or are you still hoarse? Get any bootleg pics? I always smuggle a camera. No fun otherwise. *slight wink at Kit*
Kit - glad you like the job. As far as the locks, just jimmy them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Get that fake "who me?" look off your face. We all know better. BTW, Mickey says hi.
CyclChyk - how can you handle McD's? The only sandwich I can tolerate is the fish and then only plain. Didn't like their burgers as a kid either. Blech.
As far as massage, I have 2 SIL's that are massage therapists and have taught me loads. I'm much better at giving them now and can go for over an hour straight without even thinking about it. No complaints yet. My tech mentors from school used to line up. (Did I mention I got straight A's in clinicals? ;)) Anyway, between the 2 of them, I get free ones anytime I need 'em. At home, I don't leave it up for discussion.
Kelownagirl - sorry you're ill. You have all my sympathy. Had my own p*ke-fest last Mon. Took me days to recover. Oh, I love Dream Weaver too. One of my all time favorites. Let's see what's playing in the changer now? Hmmmm, here ya go... Billie Holiday, Night and Day. Enjoy.
Night and day you are the one
Only you beneath the moon and sun
Whether near me or far
It's no matter, darling, where you are
I think of you
Night and day
Day and night...
(Aaaaahh, ain't nothin' like a good Cole Porter song)
Take care and stay in bed if that's what it takes. Fluids, push fluids. (((Kg)))
Nanci - "the water" is in the sodas, tea, cooked foods... that's why it still gets ya.
Dar - sorry about the painful legs. Come on over and I'll stomp on your back for a while. Won't fix the spasms but then again you won't notice for allthe spinal fx pain. On second thought, maybe just a good massage to loosen and realign everything.
BMo3 - thumb is better, thanks. Stopped hurting so much today. I soaked the bandage off (cold water) and rewrapped it. As much as I have to wash my hands all day, I'm surprsed it's not worse tonight. BTW, Nanci's b-day is on the 18th. (I got it this time, right Nanci? :o ) Friend went home today. I stopped by on my way home from work and got her settled in. She made me sing her a bedtime song. **shaking head** I'm such a sucker for sick people.
mimi - y'all in Seattle rock the biking world don't you? Such talent - how do you contain it all in only one city? I've gotta visit there someday. Sounds so bike friendly. It's like going to an alien planet or something compared to here.
CWR - yup, ya still know. (((CWR)))
Rosie the Riveter ROCKS!!! I ordered a jersey online 4 days ago. Expensive, but worth it. Can't wait until she gets here. I'll put it on and send ya a pic when she arrives. Good choice in avatars. Hope she helps give you the strength you need. You know where you can find the rest. ;)
I just caught your last post Kit. It's kinda hard to write when I keep getting interrupted. 3 phone calls and an email. I seem to be the center of the whole universe tonight. Is it a full moon?
**whispering** pssst! Hey, Kelownagirl - keep up will ya? cd's just switched to Louis Armstrong. It's set on random so let's see... C'est Si Bon. Mmmmm, nice choice. (Satch is just the coolest kat.)
Trek - did Knot make it home ok yet? Hope your spirits are better. Here's an extra one, just cuz. (((Trek)))
OK. I think I'm finally caught up. Mondays are always so gabby around here. A girl could lose a finger from typing.
later gator.
Hey, welcome home, Knot. Looking forward to seeing the Knot/Trek pics.
X, I was about to invite you here. You'd like it here, I think. Think about coming for a visit, for real.
Snap, what a blast. The Stones are the collective Portrait of Dorian Gray. I don't know how they've survived all the stuff they've done and yet they seem to just go on and on. Mick's dad just died at age 93, so I expect Mick got some good longevity genes. What was your favorite thing in Vegas besides them?
Chyk, I am taking before and after house pics, have been mailing them to my mom, and will post a few sometime.
Road to Nowhere is one of my alltime favorites.
Salsa - see my vacation thread. please give me your ideas. all are welcome. http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=11440
Thanks!
I may end up combining 2 different destinations in one vacation. Never know. I've got days to burn.
It's my birthday Saturday. I'll be 48! That's the same as 50. I wish we could do something fun. I miss my family. BF has been back since last Thursday. There's a Century, the Horrible Hundred, Sunday. I don't know if I want to go or not.
I switched from Grey's Anatomy last night to the first season of Jackass. I would like to try alligator wrestling. I think I would be good at it.
Hello,
It's time to get up kids. Rise N Shine.:)
I hope you ladies have a good day. If you're commuting to work by bike may you have a safe ride.
Off to bed soon.
c
Oh, girl, you crack me up! I guffawed out loud (GOL?) at that one! You must watch What It Takes. There's this section showing how PR gets down to racing weight (which is 15# more than I weigh, and he's 7" taller than me! ). He eats almost nothing. He shops for every meal, so there's no food left in the house. He goes to bed so hungry he has a headache. I sat there talking to the TV, saying, "Eat Peter! Eat!" Poor guy. I hope he's enjoying retirement and eating on a regular basis. I hope Addy decides to be a happy pampered snake and eat the good food you're offering.
I'm sorry this is a tough week. I hope the BF does something fun with you. I think you'd be great at alligator wrestling, because, so far as I can tell, you're great at every crazy, impossible thing you try! I am most definitely in the Nanci fan club. As a midwife, I can picture what it was like for your mom 48 years ago today, wondering when her baby would finally come. I'm glad you were born nearly 48 years ago. (((Nanci))) L.
Oh, Nanci, Nanci, Nanci...I'm emerging from lurkdom long enough to let you know that 48 is in no way the same as 50! Trust me on this.
Every year you get a little achier, a little fatter, a little grayer. I'd guess that at least 50% of my time with my friends is spent b!tching about how much it sucks to get old--not intentionally, but that's just where our conversations gravitate these days. Enjoy your 40's, and have a great birthday.
I hate to post and run, but just wanted to share this. My trainer asked me if I had thought about racing at our velodrome -- pretty nice compliment. :o It's not in the cards for next year, though.
Gosh, 48 is so NOT 50. when you are 48 you can still pretend to be 'middle aged' at 50 the only way you can be young is to work at it.
48 is when you still can get away with A LOT... at 50 you had better get your act together or you are going to be OLD fast. Too many of my family and friends have let it happen. It really breaks my heart when my little sister says she moves slowly all the time now because she hurts. she got old and i didn't.
Salsa, all that talk about your house construction and your cats has really scared me. Do your cats normally go out? or do they cower in a closet while your roof is being torn off? I had been thinking about adding on to my house
but now we are both wondering if it is worth all the pain and suffering and hassles.
Knot, welcome to storm central. Even at the lazy B we had power outages last week while i was in Sunny Italy.
Chick, don't forget to buy fruits and vegetables before you go back to the cold, dark north.
X, yes do come to Seattle, you have at least 2 places to stay. we're a non-smoking drinking house with cats..
right now I am really unhappy because my son's girlfriend got an edict from her doctor to not come to my house because of those cats. That of course means my son doesn't come over either. He was even instructed to change clothes when he gets home (they live together) if he's been at MY house. I know it isn't personal but it sure FEELS personal.
Offthegrid, how cool is that that people think you are better than you think yourself!!
i say go for it.!
X when you get the jersey let me know how it fits. i've wanted it for a LONG time. btw ((((((X))))))
kit have a good second day at work ((((((kit))))))
nanci how is 48 50? i thought 48 was the new 38?
lise you make me feel a lot more sane. i always yell at movies too. now if they only would listen to us.
welcome home knot. can't wait to see the pictures!
have a good day everyone. (((((((everyone)))))) i'm just full of hugs today. :) anyone need a second one?
BMo3 - you used to live in USSR? Please tell me more - PM me if you want.
Nanci - I could see you as an alligatore wrestler:p Ain't no mountain high enough woman! And I would never have guessed your age! Isn't that a neat thing about internet friends? We get to learn and love people for who they are - not for their age, looks, scars, voices, etc. Just one of the many things I love about this forum.....
Kelown - are you feeling better Hon?
X - glad the thumb is getting better. And to hear your friend is out of the hospital. Can you sing me a bedtime story tonight?
Snap - glad the concert was awesome! Sleep well and catch us up with your adventure.
Knot & CWR - safe travels home girls.
All this massage talk lately. I sure could use one...my back and legs HURT today.
I'm gonna write down a list of things I want to do before I die today and start doing them. I need to get out of my rut...
This is Scully: http://www.buffusa.com/product/53
A couple pictures:
Flossie and Menace in all their lugged and Campy glory, riding the roof-rack to the start of the bike ride. Being tall has it's uses, Trek didn't need to use her step-stool to get the bikes up there! (Knot flexes her puny, but long, arms) Note the GG bridge in the background.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...t/DSCN0302.jpg
Trek on the Golden Gate bridge. The views were incredible! We saw a seal swimming along on the surface of the water, and lots of sailboats.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...t/DSCN0312.jpg
Flossie on the bridge. Awwww...
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...t/DSCN0313.jpg
This bird was just standing along a path in Crissy (sp?) field where we walked the bikes. There were pelicans and other birds, too, but this dude was fearless. I think he was drawn by the shiney lavender and shiney gold bikes.
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...t/DSCN0323.jpg
X -McD's was in my younger <gulp> days.... now all I can tolerate is the crilled chx on wheat, plain. Its actually pretty good. And I'm still not falling for the masage thing.... maybe I'm jsut a big puss but they always hurt......
CWR - TOTALLY agree that OOHRA's gotta come from the gut. Means something completely different otherwise.
KNOT - welcome home! Pics Pics! (can you tell I never go out of town)
NANCI - Happy early B-day chickie!!! (And age is just a number... at least thats what I keep telling myself :( )
KIT - how's the new job? Are you working with cool peeps or is everyone still in dork status?
KEL - hope ya feel better soon. Being sick just plain sucks.
BOM - how have you been feeling? Better I hope. Any news?
MIMI - you want me to set your son straight? (I'll sic X on him!) People with allergies are around cats all the time.... medicine is pretty amazing that way....
Good Morning one and all.
I am about to go exercise and then proceed with motherly duties around the house. I know, you are all envious that I get to clean up, wash clothes, vacuum, and do the thousand other things I do every single day of my life.
I had a bad night, which was probably good, since it scared me into placing the medical ID bracelet ordered this morning. MP played a major role is kindly reminding me to get off my bum and order one (she was much nicer than how I just stated it. :D)
Now I will never get my Polar RS200SD, although should there be a problem, I will at least have my med ID on me. :)
I have all my SS items together and ready to mail.
Nanci-you share a birthday with my twins. We are having 2 "cakes". One is a Killer Brownie "cake". The other "cake" is a mile high killer Brownie Cheesecake. The twins do not care for normal cake.
Dar-I made a list shortly after discovering I had a stroke. Pity it took a major event to make me think about my goals.
My major was Soviet Foreign Policy. Long story short, I lived over there when it was still the USSR. beautiful country, lovely people. Anyhow, I graduated, communism collapsed and I went on to get a masters in physics. Note, I am not using any of my degrees, yet will be paying student loans off from the grave.
X-come to Ohio, you know you want to. Sure, there are many scenic places that do not resemble your home state, but I am in Ohio. ;)
CWR- I like your sig line! BTW, you are not allergic to nuts are you?
Knot-Welcome home!
Nanci-I have discovered that each year I find myself stronger )ignore the whole stroke thing, it sets a bad example) and I am more comfortable with who I am. I would not want to go back and redo my 20s or even early 30s. Not that anything is wrong with the 20s and early 30s, those were just tough times for me.
Lise-out of an act of desperation for something to watch to try and ignore pain, I turned on ER (weeks ago). I loved the show for the first few years...anyway, when Abby was in preterm labour, I was screaming at the TV, correcting the mistakes- beginning with Mag Sulphate and Betamethasone all the way to the NICU. :o You would think with all that money they could ask women who have been through these things for some pointers.
Okay, time to exercise and start cleaning. Oh joy.
Oh, gosh, I wish I had time to comment more. I may have to get on at work if the prying eyes can keep to themselves. They really are nosey. It's called 'lack of own life' syndrome.
OTG - I'll try to PM ya later. Promise. AllezGirl and I have a plan in the works. BTW, congrats! Do the velodrome, definitely.
CWR - quit messing around and get back to some serious personal fun, girl. Catch ya later tonight. Hope you liked the PM I just sent. No sharing that story now. :o :D
Knot - WELCOME HOME!!!
Glad you're home safely and everything went so well. Thanks for the pics. Hope you can share more at some point. (I need ideas for vacation rides.) I love the 2 bikes on the car roof shot. Aren't they cute together? I guess they got along alright, huh? No fighting for a window seat to worry about.
Thanks for being there for Trek. We can't have her walking around with a gloomy guss on her face. She's the TD glue that holds this place together.
BMo3 - oh, I can't even put it into words. Not even a virtual hug can do it. :)
Gotta run kids, I've got a very important errand before work. No excuses or I have to ban myself from the bike. Can't have that, now can we?
catch y'all later and be safe.
x
Kit: sounds like you are in desperate need of a locksmith!
Cyclechyk: After hiking the GC this last weekend, I am desperately in need of a massage (maybe a margarita wouldn't hurt either).
Annie: Ditto on the 7-up!
BMO3: - Skully is wild - I think it is you!
I'll start riding my bike tomorrow - trying to let the little tears in my legs heal a little before I go out.
Looks like rain today. We could use some rain. The top of the mountain is all covered with clouds - maybe it is snowing up there.
When I came to work this morning, the Big Kitty was hogging the hubby lap. They looked pretty comfortable. I wish I could have stayed home too!
BOM no i'm not allergic to anything that i know of.
X yes i did like it. i just may have to send you a blackmail email now and again though just for fun. :)
TELL me about it! That show makes me nuts. They get OB so wrong. You'd think they could just ask a doctor or nurse or midwife or ANYBODY who works in OB. They clearly have one medical person consultant who dimly remembers his/her OB rotation in med school. My ex loved that show, and I was not allowed to be in the room when it was on, because I'd get so irate.
Bikingmomof3: I really like blue flame, but they have an impossible number of choices there. Goodness.
Nanci: Happy b-day! Enjoy it.
I'm at work and supposed to be doing this project, but all the other team members decided to go to lunch instead. I purposely ate lunch early and at my desk so I'd be ready to go.   Well, guess I get time to read TD then. :D
Nah, I'm not going to do the velodrome next year. Maybe in 2008. I just need to get more comfortable on the bike and do some real riding in 2007, not to mention lose my 80 pounds.
Weigh-in is tonight. I think I have done well, but the scale will tell.
Did squats last night with the trainer for the first time ever. Not too bad. He was very patient and showed me how to do them like 100 times. I was actually really afraid that I wouldn't be able to do it and would fall on my butt, but I did it!
This month my company pays employees for unused vacation up to a week, so I have some extra $$$ coming in. Sweet! (But before you feel too jealous, I didn't take ANY vacation this year. I switched jobs and didn't take a single day off, and then only used 4 days off for doctor's appointments.)
But I need to buy so much stuff. Like:
- Bike stand
- Clip on aero bars (maybe)
- New pair of sneakers. Oh, and when my orthotics come in they're $175.
- New Enell sports bras because mine are now too big. These are something like $60 each.
- New clothes because my pants are falling down.
- Heart rate monitor
- Cyclocomputer for my road bike that measures cadence; then I can move the road bike computer to my commuter.
- Better saddle for the commuter
- Panier
- Pedals, bike shoes (maybe) and cleats for the commuter
- Better cycling shorts (but probably will try to wait until I'm "small" enough to wear a women's XL)
- Some nutrition stuff like Shot Blocks and possibly Cytomax (though that can probably wait until spring)
Hmmm ... that might be it.
BTW, I love "ER." I like to watch in blissful ignorance that medical procedures are wrong. "Grey's Anatomy" is OK. I am a "Lost" die-hard, but recently have become frustrated with it. I still watch "Desperate Housewives."
My guilty pleasure is "Biggest Loser." I'm in love with Bob. *swoon*
Try "Boston Legal" sometime if you haven't watched it. It's hillarious.
Knot-Thank you for sharing the photos. The bikes look so happy. I love the pics of the GGB.
Lise- I began watching ER when I was on hospital bedrest. I watched it until George Clooney left. You should have heard me shouting at the screen during the OB scenes. They got everything wrong.
Not related to the show, but real life-why did nurses bring in teeny little wrist and arm bands evertime I went into major preterm labour on mag sulphate. Do they not know how absolutely frantic that makes the mother?
X-thanks for the hug.
Spokewench-I am thinking Scully is the one. :)
OTG-do nto hold back due to weight. You will notice muscle replaces fat and eventually the scale will not move as quickly as the beginning. You should see the "need" list for running. I have not even started my swimming wish list yet.
As for TV, I am a PBS watcher.
Bmom3, I like George Clooney too. (but never saw ER)
why did teeny little wrist and arm bands disturb you?
why were you on mag sulphate? sounds yucky.
while i was gone my husband got digital cable and RAI, an italian channel. Now i can get hooked on italian soap operas.
Big deal- Get upset when you're 68! Or 78!
Some people are old when they are 48. Some people are young when they are 48. Be the second kind, girl. Rejoice!
I'm 52 and I feel younger and better than when I was in my 20's or 30's....or 40's.
And remember all the people will never never get to be 48...
I was on Mag Sulphate (too many times) in an attempt stop preterm labour. Side note, all my babies were preemies. The wrist and ankle bands depressed and frightened me, because it meant the perinatologist's believed the mag was not working and the babies would need to be delivered. Not good. Fortunately, all worked out well and my twinks have abirthday on Saturday. :)
oh, wow, ALL were preemies! now I understand. How preemie were they?
my kids were so on time that i won the office pool with the second!
That is the tricky part, which I shall explain in a moment.
My oldest was 1 month early, not bad, but I had a seizure trying to deliver him and so he was blue and floppy :( with very, very, very bad apgar scores. poor thing had to have Narcan to reverse the effects of the meds they gave me. :( I felt so guilty being wheeled into the NICU. I wanted to wear a sign indictating I was not a drug user. We both had to stay in hospital for 2 weeks.
Second pregnancy, exact preemie designation is iffy because my perinatologist told me early on not to think of a due date. Long, long story, but procedures needed to be done due to the TTTS and thy needed to be done prior to the official 20 week period. Shorten the story, they were due sometime toward the end of Jan and were born in November. 3lbs and 4lbs-awesome weights. :D One needed oxygen and an NG tube, the other delevoped NEC, and was taken off feeds. We will not know if he will be able to have children until he is old enough to understand and be tested. He had tubes everywhere, but he could breathe on his own. :) His day shift NICU nurse told me I could not hold him, yeah right. I picked him up and rocked him when her back was turned. :D I guess she was afraid I would mess up his tubes. I worked in health care long enough to not be frightened of tubing.
Now, I imagine you are sorry you asked.
