What's in your stable? 2004 Trek 4300 (mine), various other Trek products belonging to my hubby, daughter, and son, a really fancy teal and pink huffy (5 year old’s) and two groovy vintage Schwinns from my youth (one even has a banana seat).
Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 35 mph on my mountain bike on the road, every time I go down a certain hill near our home. (we live in the foothills of the blue ridge mountains and it’s hilly around here!)
Another picture of yourself or your ride? I’m the photographer of the family, which means there are very few pictures of me, period. I don’t think I have one of me on my bike…may have to work on that!
What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Driver's License weight...haven't seen that weight in years. But when I renew the license they don't ask, so I don't tell. I can dream, can't I?
Most memorable moment on my bike: Finishing my first 40+ mile road ride Mother’s Day weekend (on my mountain bike)
Most fun ever had on a bike? We took our kids to ride the Virginia Creeper trail last fall. It was 17 miles of downhill coasting through these little bike-friendly towns. It was beautiful and the kids just loved that trip! Our 5 year old sang “She’ll be comin’ round the mountain when she comes” for most of the 17 miles she rode in the bike trailer behind her dad.

And thanks folks for clarifying Kansas... mostly I can work out which state is which - but for the life of me couldn't think of any "K" state yesterday apart from Kentucky... LOL, and me loving the Wizard of Oz when I was a kid... shame on me!

Hi Denise, I enjoyed reading about your travels through Kansas in the summer. Hot and windy pretty much describes it. I'm originally from Iowa so I'm not familiar with the area you went through. You've inspired me to think about a fun biking trip for my 50th birthday.

St. Louis county. I'll be pulling the trailer on the confluence trail (St. Louis to Alton, IL) tomorrow which tends to be terribly windy anyway, something about being on the Missippi I guess, so you just hang on tight to those headwinds for me. I'll take the tails, I was doing 22 mph with baby trailer on the return last I was there and feeling like I was hardly working. Ahhhhh.....

Most fun ever had on a bike? When I was a kid I had a yellow bike with a huge banana seat and white streamers. The feeling of being on that bike zipping down the street ... wow, I've never felt like that since.

Welcome Jen! I'm happy but not too knowledgable. I'm a trail and error sort of rider. Not very technical at all
Speaking of banana seats did anyone ever do this: get pedaling fast enough to coast and then put one foot on the seat and the other leg straight out behind, in a sort of ballet swan thing? I ought to dig up the photo of that and post it! I thought I was something else when I could do that.
And hey, anyone remember the swing bikes? Those crazy things were an accident waiting to happen but I loved my cousin's swing bike so much I begged and begged for it until he let me borrow for the summer one year, when he was too busy riding horses to ride the bike. No point letting the bike get dusty! When summer rodeo season was over and he wanted his bike it killed me to give it back. :mad:

Most memorable moment on my bike: My first organized ride, Elves & More Texas Cycling Classic, this past November. Surrounded my all kinds of cyclists and the whole experience was just great.

Most memorable moment on my bike: That's difficult...well, a good one was last week when the boy and I stopped on our freezing 45 miler to buy those chemical foot warmer things in a bait shop in nowhereland, Michigan. Yes, in the middle of May.
Most fun ever had on a bike? Anytime I'm riding and I think about how awesome it is to be able to travel so far on my own power and see so many things that I would miss traveling by car. And, when the moment's right and I speed up a hill past my boyfriend- that's also fun.
