Today, my sister and Mom arrive from Tucson and we will have the ham and fixins for dinner tonight.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'm on clear liquids through tomorrow in prep for a routine colonoscopy screening so oh joy and fun, the prep! Clear juices, what fun. I'm staying off this thread. :rolleyes: :(

My eating marathon is mostly over. Back to normal for a few days, until New Year's
one cup of coffee before a 45 minute hill work out on the trainer
B: 2 scrambled eggs with mushrooms and sprinkle of low fat cheddar, peach salsa, an orange, more coffee
L: left over butternut squash and polenta, avocado, an apple
S: nuts, cranberries, chocolate
D: 2 chicken sausages stir fried with hearts of palm, onion, tomato, basil, mushrooms, salad with walnuts, cranberries, goat cheese, fig vinegar, 2 squares dark chocolate

I did all of the cooking at home, so in the end I didn't really cheat. Too much cornish hen however :)
Today - snowed in
B: scrambled eggs with veggies, bacon, coffee with cream
L: beef shank and kale
D: balsamic braised short ribs and sweet potato - coffee with dark unsweetened cocoa and cream for dessert.

B: eggs scrambled with parsley (quite yummy), 1 slice bacon, coffee with cream
L: a bit of ham. turkey, green beans, salad (Christmas dinner at church)
45 minutes rowing at gym
D: roast chicken (with compound butter - yummm), brussels sprouts, home-made Tom Kha Gai soup (first experiment, also yummy)

B: cornflakes with skim milk, banana. Tea with milk
Lunch: 3 sashimi and sushi with salmon and tuna. A coconut pineapple filled bun. (We stopped while grocery shopping at a Chinese supermarket.)
Coffee with milk.
Tangerine..when we got home from an afternoon of shopping.
Dinner: Stir fried beet greens, bok choy, water chestnuts, mushrooms and red pepper, onion, garlic with fresh steamed Asian noodles. Tea with milk

B: 2 eggs over easy, 2 slices uncured bacon, 1 slice of Ezekial raisin bread, blueberries/strawberries, coffee
S: ate about 2/3 of a luna Bar before starting x country skiing.
L: (at ski lodge) small bowl of chicken veggie soup, piece of sour dough bread, packet of nuts and cranberries. Skied some more after this
S: I was starving when we got home and realized I should have had a bigger lunch while skiing. I ate a piece of Ezekial bread with hummus and an apple
D: 2 roasted chicken thighs with shallots, sweet potato, asparagus roasted in oil and garlic, glass of red wine, 2 squares dark chocolate
Back to normal eating tomorrow

B: Cornflakes with milk, 3 logan fruit (or dragon eyes). Half a dragonfruit.
L: Tea with milk.
D: 3 Rye crackers with drained yogurt mixed with fresh herbs, topped with salmon roe
Pan seared duck breast in red wine, blueberry, soy and maple syrup sauce with fennel.
Stir fry of water chestnuts, daikon, onions, red pepper, shanghai boy choy, ginger root, tree/wood fungus root, garlic and mushrooms.
Meringues in a rich wine sauce (it was egg based)
Half glass of blackberry wine.
Tea with milk
That was New Year's Eve dinner!

OK, I am back on track.
B: cup of Greek non fat yogurt with blueberries, almonds, dried cranberries, slice of Ezekial raisin toast with a teaspoon of soy nut butter
one hour on the trainer, intervals for 44 of the 60 minutes.
S: handful of nuts
L: left over soy/veggie crumbles with refried black beans on a corn tortilla, with salsa, half a cup of tomato soup, an apple
S: nuts, cranberries, chocolate bits
D: spaghetti squash with 4 turkey meatballs and marinara, glass of red wine, 2 squares dark chocolate

It is sad to lose two special women in a week's time. Both are in my church, and indeed I was present when they were formally brought into the Orthodox Church, both were over 70 at the time. These ladies were like my surrogate mom and aunt, and one of them just remarried less than a year ago! One was buried last Friday, the other died that same day and her funeral is tomorrow. They will be sorely missed, two classy ladies with a kind word and generous heart for everyone they met and were more alive and vibrant than many half their age. I aspire to be like them should I live so long!
