Don't you hate it when you can't find the tool you need???
I am trying to clean up my "rain bike" so I can put it on the trainer downstairs and have another exercise option. But the chain was gross so I ultrasonic-ed it, and now I don't want to put the beautious clean chain on the bike with the super dirty cassette. But I can't find the little round cassette remover thing-y. (I know there's a word for it.....SK?)
DH used it last getting his bike prepped for Death Ride. For ONCE the misplaced tool is not my fault. But darn it I wanted to finish this project up!!
Just got back from a foray into the depths of suburbia.... an outlet mall where NOTHING was cheaper than you'd find at a regular store!
I bought a new cast-iron frying pan. (I ruined a beautiful 23 year old pan my mom gave me. I'll do better this time.)
And.... we went to a Levi "outlet" and found old-fashioned shrink-to-fit button fly 501's! Do you remember wearing those in the early 80's? We were in an 80's mood already because the radio station we listened to in the car was playing all 80's music. So against all reason, I bought a pair.
Dude! I'm shrinkin' them and they are totally awesome! They actually fit! And since they really are shrink-to-fit, as I remember they fit better each time.
And the button fly is so sexy.
Doin' the happy dance because I can still wear 501's after all. (they just have to be the RIGHT 501's!):D
KN, cool about the 501s!
I'm at work, just about to start a 12 hour shift. Got in a 25 mile ride this morning before a meeting, then brunch, the 3.5 hr nap, then dinner with friends. And yet...driving home from dinner to get ready for work, I had this bout of sadness about the lack of partner. Y'all have watched my forays out into the wild world of dating this year...I know it's not over and I'm not dead yet... And yesterday evening I was feeling glad to be single and not dating, because I had time to train! Whoooo...
I remember when I was doing the hardest training for the marathon, I'd have intensely down moments, too. The good news is that I have two ladies here in labor, so I get to stop fretting about *myself*!
Sleep tight, TD. (Except for DirtDiva and CrazyCanuk, of course--get up! :p )
KnottedYet "And the button fly is so sexy."
Better than the Zoiks eh? Well, I've never looked right in 501's :(
Wish I had some Pretty and freakishly evil Semillon. Kicks you with skittle, oaky lamb shank and light ketchup. Drink now through 2008... to drink.
I called the attending physician in from home to deliver one of "my" babies with some minor surgical assistance. He came in, introduced himself to the couple, assessed the lady, agreed with my plan, and left to change into scrubs. He was back in no time. The nurse said, "Wow! That was fast!" I said, "Dr. F. is a triathlete. He knows how to get through transition." This guy's done at least 2 Ironmans (would that be Ironmen?). Changing clothes quickly would be his forte! :p
Mom and baby are doing great. :D
I've fallen off the bandwagon...At the moment i'm training for the 6hr mtn bike event at the end of August...I feel guilty not running however will think about doing the 6km run on friday am...I'll aim to go swimming thurs Am...
I'm 171km off 2000km's...my aim is to do 3300 by the end of the year...I wonder if i could do 4000....It's august & i've slacked off on the km's....
Anywho, good night kids.
Hey you in bed, get up & go biking!
c
Morning all (or evening - wherever you are). I was supposed to go running this morning, but last night our AC decided to stop working. At least we have lots of ceiling fans. I couldn't bear the thought of running and then coming back into a house that was as hot and humid as it was outside. Yick! We keep our house fairly warm, but the humidity was a killer. At least now I'm in my frigid office.
Lise - What ever happened with Mr. P? There's someone out there for you. They might be right under your nose and you don't even realize it. But like you said - think of all the time you have for training ;) Smile :)
Hey, fish, that sucks about the ac. I don't know how I lived without it all those years.
Mr. P.--we had some very tentative plans for dinner last night, but he never called to finalize, so....in the wind? I went out to dinner with good friends instead, which was nice. As I think about it, I realize that they were all couples, which may have been part of the sadness after.
Going to bed now, and I will shut the cats out! They will have their own little ac area, and I'll have mine. If I don't close the door, Isaac will bug me non-stop to let him out to eat grass. argh! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....L.
sleep good lise. don't let the bed bugs bite or the kitties. ;)
The extra nice thing about Isaac eating grass is that he will then very kindly come back in when it's time to puke it back up. At least, that's what OUR cats always do.
What happened to your AC, Fish? Ours caused trouble a few times a year by freezing up- which then means no AC, but then after a good long thaw, it's fine again until it has to run non-stop for a long time. Finally, this year, I was sick of it, so we had a tune-up/checkup done, and it just needed more refrigerant (plus some minor changes in the house like leaving ceiling fans on all the time and uncovering all vents and I put in a programmable thermostat, which I don't know if that has any effect or not but we're not fighting over the settings anymore, especially since BF has a real job now and is paying the electric bill so I am not always trying to conserve- now he is!!!). Hasn't frozen up since. I hope yours is something simple like that.
i use to work for an ac company back in phoenix. i know how it goes when your ac stops. not fun.
poor fish. hopefully you get it figured out and someone can get there quick to fix it. good luck on that one.
We're not quite sure what happened to the AC. We had the refrigerant recharged last year. It's been running hard lately - 'cause of the heat. We have a really cool (bad pun - sorry - you know I can't help it) thermostat that came with the house. It learns what temps you want at what particular time and gradually changes the temp. Anyhoo - Mr. Fish was checking what type of batteries it took (batteries were running low) and removed the unit while it was running. We are afraid that caused some sort of voltage spike and fried something on the board. We had a wire that needed to be resoldered before, so who knows.
Just talked to Mr. Fish - AC guy is still not there. It's wierd - it'll blow out air that's around 80F. The house is around 85F or so now. It's dehumidifying the air, but we're afraid to run it like that, just in case it's doing more damage. It has to be hot in that house!
Here's another quirky southern thing that doesn't happen up north. You have a well, and a pump. One afternoon, your water just quits. Then, at night, it may mysteriously start up again! Hmmm- ants are in the electrical contacts that control the pump! They go to bed at night, and your water starts working again, unless there are some bodies stuck in the contacts. No one knows why they are attracted to the contacts. You have to learn how to shut off the electricity to the pump (which at my house isn't the main breaker in the house youch!!!!!!!!!) and how to dismantle it and get to the contacts, then figure out what exactly constitutes "contacts," then clean them with a nail file, then go psycho spraying killer insecticide all over above your ground water supply so it doesn't happen again after the 5000th time...
