Mimi-This bra is wonderful. Lets just say I gravity has not been kind to me. So I am a 36 B/C depending on how they roll up into the cups. :p
I took this one for a test run and a yoga run . This sport bra gets an A+. It was $28.95. The shipping is free, they provide the materials and prepaid sticker for exchanges, check it out: http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpageWRA-MCMB.html
No problem, i went for a nice run. Have another, I burned off the calories. :)
i'm trying to get out of here so i can go for one of those.
have you tried any of the carbBOOMs yet?
Wha? 4 hours since anyone posted? Ladies, ladies, ladies. **shaking head in disbelief.**
I've got an excuse, I stayed late at work on a few OR cases. Of course, I also had to have time to eat my Dairy Queen that Joyce fetched. Mmmm... banana split with chocolate, strawberry and caramel toppings. It went down smoooooth. DQ just loves the Radiology Dept.
Since there's been a ton of stuff going on today... group hug. :D (((group)))
<Knot stomps in lumberjack-like.>
<looks around>
echo...echo....e...cho....
<stomps back out>
Edit: Oooh, comes back at a run because Xrayted posted! There is life on TD!!
Hey, Knot while you're stomping around, come on over here and have a run at my lumbar region. Ya know, like Mr. Bentley used to do to George Jefferson. I gotta a crick that just won't go away all day. Right at about L3-4. I've tried stretching it out, but nada. Too much OR time makes Cindy an invalid. (you stand in one place for hours sometimes)
All right, guess I'll go grab a glass of milk, some of the choc. chip cookies I made last night, and head out to the hot tub instead. (Some kinda PT you are... won't even fly over here for a house call. :D )
heeheehee
-X.
Child's Pose! If the hot-tub doesn't fix it, try Child's Pose. It's a yoga move that sometimes gets the lats and QL to loosen up enough that the lumbar critters can move again.
Get down on your knees, and sit on your heels.
(bilateral hip adduction to midline, full bilateral ankle plantarflexion, full bilateral knee flexion, 90 degree bilateral hip flexion, ischial tubs contacting calcaneii)
Bend forward at your hips until chest is on thighs and hands are way out front on the floor.
(full hip flexion, full shoulder flexion, forearm pronation)
Hold 30 seconds.
Walk hands way over to the left.
(left lateral lumbar and thoracic flexion)
Hold 30 seconds.
Walk hands way over to the right.
(right lateral lumbar and thoracic flexion)
Hold 30 seconds.
Or you can try double knee to chest (lie on back, hug knees, hold 30 seconds, do 3 times) Or knee sways (hooklying, let knees fall to left, then fall to right for lumbar rotation 20 times).
And next time you're standing in the OR for hours, unlock your knees! Stop hangin' on those "Y" ligaments and use your transversus abdominus instead! (how are your hamstrings?)
oh that reminds me, i forgot to stretch after i ran today. the bad dinner got in my thought pattern.
i need to take a shower too... no comments from the peanut gallery please.
ooooh. I don't want to talk about hamstrings, mine are as tight as piano wires.
I'm very sleepy, but I'm also addicted to Top Chef. Do I stay up and watch it, or go sleepy bye.
Um.... wha?
Doing it the easy way first, hot tubbin'. (Now you know I never listen to my PT!) Time to go get a tad nekkid and eat some cookies. (just 2 cause of the banana split) I'll let ya know how it went if I don't drown.
I wish I knew what kind of wine goes with cookies. Oh, right, dessert wine. duh. :D
Oh why oh why can't post offices be open past 5pm?? URHGH..I have a package awaiting...mmmm
Hey, why is TD so quiet? What are you people doing this evening?
I want one piece of chocolate but i'll let that feeling pass.
Have a good evening & i'll go brush my teeth as lunch time's over..
c
I'm falling asleep, too.
gonna go put on my jammies (wooly socks, long underwear, sweats, turtleneck, sweater, fuzzy hat - hey, basement apartments get chilly!) and get ready for bed, then check TE one. last. time.
Really, only ONE last time. (as opposed to the 5 or 6 last times i usually do)
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah! That was nice.
Unfortunately, the hot tub gods exacted a heavy price for the dip. One cookie. Fell right out of my hand. Only a 1/2 a glass of wine, I swear! Geez, I've gotta be the cheapest... Of course, I couldn't get it with my foot so I ended up cave diving. Now I've got a soaked head right before bed! I'm all toasty and loose(r) tho. Shame about the cookie. It had a real future.
Thanks Knotted! I'll try those in the morning if it's still bugging. Can't plantarflex too far on the left and no go with resting the ischial tuberosity on the calcaneal tuberosity. VERY touchy back there. (the heel, not the butt) Can I just rest my bottom on the floor between my ankles if I can get the flex?
Also, how about Pilates back extensions? As for the hams, they aren't too bad now that I pay attention to stretching them out. I also do quadricep, gluteal, and hip flexor stretches. Any other ideas, feel free to speak up. (anyone)
g'night TD
So is the Paris trip for him, for business, and he still has to go, and he just wanted you to go too, or was it a romantic idea and he can change the date? That's kind of scary- you know what men like to do on big fancy trips...
Nanci
(B) Romantic Idea. The Paris trip is because he wants to go to Paris with me. He says he's been feeling like he wants to go back to Paris for some time. He was so sweet when I said "there's no way I can go that week." I half expected (because I've gotten this from others in the past) to hear, "can't you trade with somebody, blah, blah, wah, wah..." Nope. He said, "I accept your schedule for what it is. That was the first opportunity I could think of. I'm just glad you want to travel with me!" It's so early in the relationship that I'm not even worried about what I think you mean about what men like to do on big fancy trips...unless you're thinking of something other than "propose to you". :p
So we'll look at other dates. And even other locales. I mean, Paris is Paris, but in January, it's also...cold. I can still put in requests for the rest of January, just not that holiday week.
I so enjoy spending time with this guy. What a revelation. :D He's going to meet my mom and sister on 11/5, when my sister's speaking at the U of C Humanities Festival (I'm impressed!). Then he and his 16 year old daughter (who lives in another state with her mom) will join my family for Thanksgiving. I was stressing a bit about meeting the daughter, and one of my co-workers said, "You deal with 16 year olds all the time." Yeah, but they're my patients, not...you know...my guy's little girl!
Had a good night here at the baby factory--slept for three hours, got up, then got to sleep again for 2.5 hours! Now up for the day. Off at 10 AM. Must go to laundromat today. The washer and dryer in our building are both dead and won't be replaced until Monday, and my dishwasher won't drain. Handyman no-showed yesterday. Argh. Since I did get some sleep, I'm going to bundle up all the dirty laundry and just get it done.
Later, TD!
Heard that. :( Most of my body is kinda fluffy but you could bounce quarters off my hamstrings. Fun thing though...I found this cage looking thingy pushed off in the corner at the gym, upon closer inspection I found it to be a "stretching cage"!! I look like a complete idiot using it (imagine a half cage with bars at various bizarre angles) but I'm starting to feel a little less tight! :p
Xrayted "I'll let ya know how it went if I don't drown."
uh oh, now till we hear from you we'll worry that made drowsy by dessert wine and cookies you drowned.
whew, only the cookie died. ;)
You never cease to amuse me Trek.
Actually, I had a 2004 Chardonnay by Virgin (of all names) from Cali. It's been hanging up there for a while, patiently waiting. Idon't believe I bought that, it must have been a gift. I liked it, tho. Not sure it normally goes with cookie but last night it would have gone with anything.
I have to say, it must have been the 1/2 glass of wine that caused the cookie mishap. Normally, you couldn't pry one out of my grip. (I actually am that cheap... **shakes head in disgust**)
Somewhat made up for my dietary slip(s) yesterday by getting on the trainer for an hour on my off day. (ride every other) Not feeling the guilt so much now. Guilt is destructive.
Glad that the Paris trip was for romantic purposes only, Lise. :) Sounds like a keeper. If anyone asked me to go to Paris, I'd be out the door. (I'll be right there, just give me 30 minutes to pack a little something.) I've never been to Europe and I have so many places I want to see.
Actually, the best pic I've had taken recently was my passport photo for my professional certification. Sad, but absolutely true. I'd love to get copies and make x-mas cards out of it. (Hey honey, check out this card. Is that Cindy? Wow, she never looks that good. :D )
Have a spectacular day ladies.
Felt so rotten yesterday because of bad sleep, kept nodding off in important meetings with my union and our health care providers.
In between meetings I was on the floor doing some stretches (not child's pose)
and some guy walked in. I wonder what he thought i was doing down there...
I found a parking lot (behind the union office) with a great hill! I want to go back there on a saturday when there are no cars and try riding my bike up and down that little hill.
Then I had my italian club meeting last night and I KNEW I was going to die ... 2 more hours of sitting.. So I took out the trusty 26 pound Veloce (thanks to TE, I weighed it last night) and rode to the meeting in the almost rain.. so at least i didn't have total loss day.
Gee, Lise, PARIS?? Is that exotic, romantic, amazing? This guy has some $$?
what does he do for a living? I'm going to Italy in November, you can go to Paris in January. You just bring lots of warm underwear!
my secret sister gave me chocolate. And it's all gone!
(it must have been defective to disappear that fast!)
Knotted, i will do that exercise tonight. Sounds quite nice really. my deal is when i get into bed without doing any yoga stuff, the small of my back yells at me. And when i'm really really tired, it's hard to NOT do that.
Momof 3 maybe i oughto get one of those bras.. So it's not going to feel like a straightjacket with seams that cut into me? I hate bras SO MUCH.
Dessert wine....mmm....What kind? I am the WORST dessert wine hoarder. Luckily it ages well. I just finished off a (half) bottle of Muscat (Hardys) from Australia that I had open for two months! It was just too rich for me to drink more than a 2 oz glass at a time. And I'm a _good_ dessert wine drinker! My current fav is Bonny Doon Viognier Doux. (Bonny Doon Framboise is also amazing, and I also love Bonny Doon Muscat Vin de Glacier.) Plus I have a bunch of other weird stuff, like Zinfandel ice wine, and a Riesling ice wine from 1998.
Lise- I don't know...I have a friend at work, radiologist, who God knows why she's even single, but she was dating guys from Match.com, and they were all pretty nice (how'd she manage that???) but just not quite right. So she met this guy, maybe 35-40, financial something or other, last winter, and they went to Hawaii in September, and we're all teasing her- and yes, he did ask her to marry him on that trip. I think older guys, sometimes, know a good thing when they see it. Sometimes. If they are't big puXXies.
I made Choco musk me by kissing him too much...I think he thought I was going to eat him. Poor little guy! I really love that snake.
I am trying to figure out how to brumate Fagalo outside. I think it will be way healthier for him. I think I have to make him a big pile of earth/peat covered by leaves, withhold food two weeks, soak him daily, and see what happens. I don't think it's cold enough yet, though. BF says he will never forgive me if I kill Fagalo by brumating him. I tried to explain that it is necessary for resetting all his hormones and stuff.
Lise - I love Paris in the Springtime...... just a thought.... So glad it is working out well. Sigh!!
CWR - were you asking about Carboom the energy gel stuff? I used that a lot before I discovered banana Hammer gel. I really like them. Not super icky give you a huge rush sweet. More a steady sort of energy. They have an apple cinnamon sort of one that's good. And a peachy banana. All fairly natural, too. If you were talking about something more interesting than gels, ignore me... :D
I like Carb Boom Vanilla Orange.
Didn't Power Gel used to make Key Lime? I liked that. I think they stopped.
Gu Triberry, Orange and Banana
My favorite gel is Cranksports eGel Mountain Rush.
Second favorite is EnergIce Grape and Blue Raspberry. You freeze it!!
But lately, all I eat is Sport Beans...
Good Afternoon Ladies!
CWR- I did indeed try one of the Carb Boom gels. The Cinnamon Apple to be exact. Yum!
Knot-I absolutely adore Child's pose. I could fall asleep in that position. After every run, my final cool down is 30 minutes of yoga. Ah, Bliss.
Lise-J sounds like a wonderful man and he is willing to attend a family holiday. WOW! I hope you both are able to find time to got of Paris. Personally, I loved Finland in January. Very nice, very romantic.
Xrayted- I am very glad you did not drown. Sorry to hear the cookie was not as fortunate. Ah Christmas cards. I like the idea of using your passport photo. I wonder if I could send one of my MRI photos...
Mimi- I do so hope your day is better than yesterday. The bra is great. For under $30 free shipping and free return if you dislike it, I say give it a try. I do not like bras either, but this one did not feel as though I was wearing anything. Oh a word on this one. I bought white. Do not wear it by itself if you sweat. When wet, it is very see through.
Nanci- Poor Choco, thinking you were going to eat him. He must have been terrified. You need to talk with him and explain how adorable he is. Has Fagalo ever spent the winter outside? Sounds like a lot of work and trial and error? I have no idea, but I wish you both the best and keep us updated. I am finding a new appreciation for different species by reading your posts.
I think that is everything for now. I am planning to read today. I was going to finish knitting my sweater, but I am in the mood to read. I have exercised, showered, the laundry is almost done, and the house looks as good as it is going to get. I refuse to go into the rooms my children inhabit. They will be cleaning those this weekend. Hopefully the rain will taper off for my run this evening.
Hey BMo3
I bought red, which is back ordered. I would never order white, and i'll tell you why. recently i was on a ride and had to take off my under layer because i was so hot. if i was wearing a white bra, i would not have had the nerve to strip down to it in public. instead i had my red and black straightjacket bra on so i felt quite sporty and stripped without feeling nekkid at all.
With feral cats, one must learn to interact with them so they don't feel like you're trying to eat them. When they finally start acting like kittens around you, it is a great day indeed. (and mine are finally doing that)
I haven't eaten a lot of those flavored things. DH buys all sorts of stuff for his 100 mile rides. He's going to AZ to do a 100 km ride with some folks he met on Bike Journal.
I am having a better day. A little sleep goes A LONG way.
wah. no red bra for me. They cancelled the order. I can get black or white.
sigh...
lise - awe how sweet. sounds like a winner. hopefully you can get a little vacation in somewhere, you earned it.
BMof3 - glad that gel worked out.
x - sorry to hear of the sad fate of the cookie. how horrible indeed. (don't worry i'm a cheap date too!)
there was enough snow on the ground to do donuts and figure 8s in the parking lot with the quad. i came in work to my boss laughing at me and everyone else that came in saying "gee, i wonder who could've done that". http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/...mileys2/21.gif this is the time of year that BF and i fight over who gets to take the quad to work.
ARGH just like DGF. Long knee socks, flannel pants, t-shirt, sweatshirt, two comforters (one down, one just fill) and flannel sheets. I wear minimals and she complains *I* am "too warm to sleep near" ... um...
Well, hot tubs greatly increase the effects of alcohol consumption... so you're not *that* cheap...
(I say this to make myself feel better... cheap, cheap date here...):p
More proof that Kitsune has fallen thru a hole in the fabric of the space/time continuum.
Think of the physics - the heat generated by the friction of a "mass" falling thru such a stellar phenomenon . Then multiply by the Kitsune factor (named after guess who?) squared (because it is not just a "mass" but no less than Kitsune *herself*)
I rest my case...
Kitsune06 picturing you Groucho Marx-like with the see-gar "well if you'd take off the Long knee socks, flannel pants, t-shirt, sweatshirt, two comforters (one down, one just fill) and flannel sheets...."
We normaly don't get calls from employees here but my friend J called, got another rep, told her to say hi to me so V messaged me that J was on the line
J & I worked together in collections when I first came to the company then she followed me here (we joked about her being "my puppy" following me around to different departments)
she is the most amazing funny witty wise gal!! you would love her. She is a hoot.
then she left and worked for CTAP
and we lost track of each other....
then she came back to SBC but I did not kinow she was back so we still lost track ....
My first Bike Against the Odds was in a co. newsletter so that was 3 years ago...
and I'm just sitting at work and up pops an e-mail from the long lost Jeri!!!!
only it was bad news.
I found out that she then had stage 4 breast cancer
so here I was at work kinda bawling my eyes out for my friend....
that was i think years ago .
we got together for lunch then, she looked great (just no hair) and she said not to be sad for her, she'd had a good life, great kids, and a great GF if she wins this fight that's gravy and if not don't be sad for her....
I've done more rides since then I never forgot about her
but J never returns e-mail, she never writes she's always been bad about that so I literaly did not know if she's alive ... or not....I send e-mails to her she doesn't respond that's just her.
till today!! she called, sounded good, we didn't talk about how she is I'll try to call, just know that she's alive...
Sad story, Trek. I am glad she resurfaced though. we went through the same thing when my stepfather's sister wrote from Poland that she had incurable cancer. We all rememberd her from her recent visit, so much alive, witty, rosy cheeked... Then this letter comes and we all know she's never coming back here. It's very very hard.
hey, here in Seattle we have some NASTY weather. Lots of clouds, sharp winds... the summer feeling is Gone gone gone. Is it going to rain?
trek glad to hear she came back to let you know how things were going.
i have (had) a friend that i've kept in contact with that is (was) a quadripeligic that i haven't heard from in almost a year. :( i hope everything is ok, but i'm kind of assuming the worse.
mimitabby & cwr, what is good is having heard from her now I'm trying to put her together with some others of "that old gang of mine".
J and her GF broke up also so sure she could use some cheering up or some such.
here in the Bay we have gorgeous weather but where's the daylight???
kit, congrats on the job - I know I am a few pages late, but as usual I am behind on TD.
Lise, j is just sounding more and more awesome - that Paris idea of his - wow - and the way he handled your saying not during that week.
Weather here in Chicago is awful - rainy and cold. I would rather the temp just drop another 10 degrees and then it could snow. I was playing paddle tennis this afternoon and it was miserable. I was wet inside my rain gear from sweating so much and outside my raingear from the rain.
BMo3 - glad to hear you have found the right bra. i just got the cw-x firm support and wow, I hear you on the shoulder dislocation problem. But these 36Ds need the support.
Brina's right about the weather. Yesterday I was lucky to catch some dry weather for riding to and from work.
Yep, J. is something else. He's an IT project manager, not rich, but hey, if the man has a way to go to Paris, let's go! :D So looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.
So tired. Usually I'll throw some clothes in the laundry and go take a nap on a Thursday, but washer and dryer were both out of commission, so I went to the laundromat. It's efficient, but I have to stay awake the whole time! What's up with that?!? Dishwasher also on the fritz. Argh. Minor problems. Going to bed now. Sleep tight, TD!
