Real name: Karen
Where do you live?:
Clovis, CA
Explanation of your handle:
I ride a Kuota Kebel. Seemed simple enough.
Explanation of your avatar:
I love Tigger...what can I say?
Age (general or specific):
Turned 46 on Jan. 26th!
Occupation:
I am a Retail Clerk, which means I work at a grocery store. I have for 24 years. My current title??? Well that would be anything my boss doesn't want or doesn't have time to do. I guess that would make me an Administrative Asst.
Favorite bike:
If I would have answered this last year it would have been a Bianchi C2C. I'm glad I waited...I now own the above stated Kuota. Looooove it...!!!
What's in your stable?
I may need more space for this one....let me think. There is my husband's old Bianchi (12,000 miles on it), there is my "old" Trek 5200, (I think it had about 400 miles on it), then there is the bike I thought I would ride because it was going to be more comfortable, (we're not even going to discuss that one), and there is my husband's Calfee Tetra Pro and my bike the Kuota Kebel.
Fastest speed on a road bike?:
Somewhere between 32 and 35mph. Downhill and pedaling like crazy.
Another picture of yourself or your ride?:
You don't really want to see that, trust me...
What is the biggest lie you've ever told:
Uh...hmmm...I'll get back to you on that one.
Most memorable moment on my bike: The first time I made it up what we call "Crybaby Hill". It's only about 1/4 mile, but the incline is substantial.
Most fun ever had on a bike?:
Finishing my first metric century ride. That equates to about 62 miles. The ride itself was excrutiating because I had not trained enough for it, but it was a great accomplishment for me.
Hi Karen!
I have a Kuota Kebel, too. I just traded my Kuota Kredo frame for the Kebel last September (the Kredo was too big).
I had a Trek 5200, too, but with a lot more than 400 miles on it...
it's great getting to meet all you new people!
WELCOME TO TE!
Real name: Betsy
Where do you live? Atlanta, Georgia
Explanation of your handle: I'm well on the road to losing a lot of weight (62 lbs as of today-hence the skini) and mini refers to my absolutely awesome, loaded British Racing Green Mini Cooper. I bought it as a reward for 50 lbs lost. But hey, this is a bike forum, so my new love is my brand new Canondale rorange Synapse 4!
Explanation of your avatar: No pictures yet, I'm a newbie for road biking. This is a picture of my cat--George--licking his chops over a wayward tree frog.
Age: 52
Occupation: Educational Consultant
Favorite bike: I'd have to say my new Canondale Synapse 4.
What's in your stable? Canondale Synapse 4, Trek 7.5 FX
Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? About 25 mph, downhill close to my house (serious braking all the way down). The speed just about scared the life out of me! Remember, I'm a newbie.
Another picture of yourself or your ride? No pictures yet.
What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I cannot tell a lie.
Most memorable moment on my bike: Memorable only in a harrowing sort of way. Last summer, after only a few weeks back on a bicycle, I was riding the Silver Comet Trail here in metro Atlanta. It's a really cool rails to trails path that gets a lot of use from all sorts of people. However, weekends can be a little challenging for bikers, as there are many skaters, walkers with children, dogs, strollers, etc. I was getting ready to cross a narrow bridge, approaching it with a greatly reduced speed. There was a family with several kids just ahead. I announced my presence loudly and expected mom to make sure the children were safely to one side. At the last second, mom and a toddler darted to the opposite side, leaving about 2 ft of space through which I could navigate. I just knew I was going to hit those people. I slammed on the brakes, wrenched my feet out of the clipless pedals (remember I'm a newbie), and stopped on a dime without crashing into anyone or anything! As I caught my breath and said a prayer of thanks, an obviously very experienced cyclist approached from the other direction and congratulated me with "nice stop, I'm impressed". What could have been a disastrous situation, turned out to be just a little bit of an ego booster. I am now sooo much more careful on that trail and try to ride only on weekdays.
Most fun ever had on a bike? About 10 years ago, I completed a MS 150 on a hybrid bike. I had no idea road bikes would make things just a little easier.

I looked at my last post this morning and thought it sounded a little arrogant. Please, let me clarify.
1. Car purchase was not on a whim. My 15 y/o veh. was on its last legs.
2. I believe in sharing the road (and trails) with everyone and make sure I follow all safety rules.
3. I love my hybrid bike! Cycling (on and off) over the years on my Trek hybrids has given me the confidence to get out and try something a little out of my comfort zone-like road biking. I'd probably try Mtn biking, but I just know I would end up in a hospital somewhere.
It's cold this morning in ATL, but supposed to have '70's by the weekend. Spring's just around the corner.
Hi guys! I'm new here but this seems about as good of a way to introduce myself as any! I found this board while doing a search for a saddle that won't kill my girlie bits. I'm so glad I found you all!

Age (general or specific): 28
Occupation: Interior Designer
Favorite bike: I don't know much about them, but I like mine enough...
What's in your stable? Trek 1600 WSD
Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 32 going downhill in my neighborhood last summer
Another picture of yourself or your ride? If I figure out how to post pics, I would post one from my triathlon last fall...I was about to topple over but pulled out the save!
What is the biggest lie you've ever told: In 5th grade I told my teacher I helped Nintendo come up with ideas for new games. Seriously.
Most memorable moment on my bike: I was leaving my grandmom's driveway last summer and merging onto a busy street. Because I'm still getting used to my stupid clipless pedals I ended up toppling over and smashing into her mailbox. She of course has no clue what I was up against and yells "Don't you know how to ride a bike yet?"
Most fun ever had on a bike? Still waiting for it. I honestly don't like it very much yet (I blame the pedals). But I'm sticking with it!!
Well I have posted a number of times but always forget to say who I am, so here goes:
