I'm pretty tickled. I find myself, at 46, being much less willing to tolerate a maximum stress job, I've done it for so many years that now I just want to go to work in the morning and leave the work there when I go home.

so happy to hear that queen!
dirt that is one snazzy looking bike.
annie i found it right after my sister snubbed me and hasn't talked to me since. makes me feel so much better.
Hello All. I finally spent all my money (seriously, now I must be good :( ) on some cool runing weather clothing, which can double as biking clothing. It took a lot of research (when a budget it tight, shopping is not pleasurable) and I to convince DH that cotton is not a good base layer.
I bought (all on sale): Sugoi MidZero Zoe Knicker, Sugoi MidZero Zip Neck Top, Sugoi MidZero Speedster ( not the greatest colour but for $28.83, I will love it), InSport Women's 5K Short, and Under Armour Women's LS Frequency Tee. My mistake was not buying gloves and smart wool socks. Now I will never get the okay, I promised I was done until the next season. SIGH
Hopefully santa will bring me gloves, warmer socks, and a fleece vest. :D I also have a HUGE wish list on TE for the boys to choose from. ;-)
DirtDiva-Congrats on succumbing to the force and buying Darth. :D
Annie- Houdini sounds like the perfect name for your new kitty. What is your costume going to be? Their is a Halloween ride in Indiana we were going to do, but now we cannot due to my fainting. :o
If you want to make more costumes, my boys need them.
Nanci- I am sorry to hear about Precious Roy. At least he survived, and is well loved. Your daughter should not blame herself, but I understand.
Queen- good for you for getting rid of all that stress! Happy job hunting, wishing you all the best.
Dove Chocolate "fortunes"
There are two bags of little Dove chocolates on the staff table at work. I helped myself <eh-hem>.
My fortunes (printed on the inside of the wrappers) were:
1. Follow your instincts.
2. When two hearts race, both win.
Hmm. Nothing about bicycles.
oooh i love those dove chocolates with the little fortunes in them.
so did you really only eat two? or were they the only two good fortunes?
CWR- Santa is me. I have yet to be surprised for Christmas, It would be nice one year to find my stocking filled by someone other than me. Oh well at least I know what I like. :)
Knot-I am impressed, there is no way I could only eat two. :o
Very nice fortunes. The second one definitely could be read as cycling and romance of course. Is there any romance in the air?
we need to fix this situation, you can't be your own santa!
my BF actually filled my stocking up the year we were home for christmas. i was very impressed!
Nanci - Of course I got the red! (Not that I had any choice in the matter on a sale bike, but I'd have taken go-faster red if I had - pale blue is far too subtle.) :D
After lunch I ate more chocolate. Here are those fortunes:
1. Do what feels right.
2. Love without rules.
3. Make a list of your dreams.
4. Dare to love completely.
Now there's a job I want, writing Dove chocolate fortunes!
KN--that sounds to me like a good set of directions for the year to come. I say, frame 'em.
Had another lovely time with J. today...:D
TD'ers--I'm off to DC in the AM for my brother's wedding :) I will have limited internet access until Sunday, at least. I will be home Tuesday..."see" you then, if not before!
Dove has fortunes? I think I ate them
Trek - the fortunes are printed on the inside of the wrapper.
Ug. I ate too much dinner. (I was really hungry). Now I gotta clean my apartment.
Buh-bye!
'night! :)
an hour later...
Knot stumbles out into the livingroom, a wild and desperate look in her eyes. Is it madness? No, it is Murphy soap fumes and the zing of orange-scented air freshener.
She braved the murky depths of adolescent hygiene, and cleaned SKnot's bathroom. Brave soul. Cleaned it top to bottom. Even scraped the congealed crud from his electric toothbrush. More cannot be revealed, lest delicate natures be affronted.
The she took safety and sanity into her own hands, and tidied his room and changed the sheets on his bed. Amazing discoveries of untold wealth ensued! Look! Stacks of clean underwear tucked away under the bed! Behold! Long-lost sweatshirts ! Gaze in wonder at several pairs of clean socks where no socks have gone before!
Ah, but not all discoveries are pleasant ones. Witness the terror of unidentifiable laundry trapped in the sheets at the foot of the bed. Food wrappers wandering aimlessly across the floor. Treacherous piles of paper (forgotten homework?) lurking in wait to topple the weary traveller.
Bedroom and bathroom are ready for the arrival of Grandma, who will be staying the night tomorrow. The washer and dryer are running at full speed. The couch already bears the warm fresh results of the last hour, waiting to be folded.
And now to tackle the rest of the apartment...
wow, industrious. I usualy start cleaning then get distracted...dog wants to walk....cleaning ends....hence the mess  dust, check TD, sweep, check TD walk dog....
That's how it goes most of the time in my household maelstrom. But when Grandma comes to spend the night, break out the soap and scrub-brushes! Battle stations! Woooop wooop woooop!
Whoa! No-one posted at all last night? Is the power out in the Antipodes?
I slept like crap, had nightmares, and am miserable. I should take a pic of me with these huge bags under my eyes and post it so y'all can see the real me. (I look nothing like Flossie, who always arises fresh and sparkly and ready to greet the day with a smile.)
It is pitch dark here. Don't think I'd ever feel safe riding when it's this dark. How do you darkness-commuters do it?
Coffee. Gotta drink coffee. Eating breakfast might be a good idea, too.
with my current job, I'm not commuting, but the key is good lights and good night vision. I usually start riding at 5AM on weekdays, but this week I only got one ride in. Monday I was in 29 Palms with the 508, Tuesday I decided to sleep in. Wednesday I slept in, and Today I forgot to set the alarm. Now I have to decide what I want to do this weekend. My company is having a picnic at the beach, the Riverside club is having a century (on the path where I broke my arm), or I can do a ride in Redlands and go to a 'puter meeting afterwards....
sorry you didn't sleep so well knot. even with baggs under your eyes i'm sure you still look beautiful.
my cleaning is usually along trek's style of cleaning. takes me 5 hours to do a 2 hour clean.
ah yes the dark times have come. it so hard just getting up in the morning when the sun isn't coming up until 9:18am going down at 7:56pm and we are losing 4 mins and 26 seconds a day. noooooooooo!!!!!! http://www.smileypad.com/v224/Angry/Mad.gif
5 days of drift to sift . . . I need the Cliff Notes version. Any absolutely life changing events or epiphanies I shouldn't miss?
Lise- I am pleased everything is going so well with J! :) Safe travels and enjoy the wedding.
Knot- Please come here and clean. Try three teens, all boys, who share a bathroom. It was so much easier to keep the house nice and clean when they were little.
I am sorry you slept poorly, it could have been all that cleaning, it is not good to clean too much. ;)
I do not even like running in the dark. It is creepy in the woods (one too many scary movies/books) and there are no sidewalks where I live, which would be fine if the drivers did not seem to think they got better marks for almost hitting runners/walkers/cyclists.
Fredwina- I think all your weekend options sound like great fun. I cannot wait to hear which one you choose.
Note to self- talk amongst yourselves- How could you forget to buy socks (smacks head)-tad chilly running this morning in 32 degree weather wearing summer weight no show socks?!? Do you not harp at your oldest every.single.day. to make certain he has layers in his bag for running? Yes, you are constantly on his case, so what do you do? You forget. (Smacks head again)
I'm the same on the cleaning. I let stuff slide until it *needs to be done* then I do it fantastically well, we all stand around looking at the newly vacuumed floor/cleaned kitchen/bleached shower, etc etc etc... then it gets dirty again...
I didn't sleep so great either. I'm living with a blanket thief. I dream of snow drifts and freezing to death in the arctic... then wake up and discover someone's completely wrapped herself in the blankets and is happily stretched waaaayyyyyy out and snoring and snerking like a noisy little angel. Aww.
So I unwrap the angel and steal the blankets back, to hear angry squeaking and grumping noises until she realizes that when I have enough covers to cover myself, she *should* theoretically have enough, too. Someday I'm gonna play the "You get the blankets, I get the bed" game. :p
Another restless night, another interview today. Early this afternoon... just before work. EEK! Not so nervous. I complained to DGF that I couldn't bike to this one so I didn't want to do the interview. She said "You're kidding me, right?" ...um... no?
so I'm going anyway, because really, a good job is a good job, anyway, and with any luck, maybe I can get a bike rack and do a park 'n ride or something once I'm over the main scary freeway...
this is for you: http://www.smileypad.com/v224/Feelings/Doh3.gif
by the way:
happy friday the 13th everyone http://www.smileypad.com/v224/Funny/Investigate.gif
I am a blanket thief. I wrap myself up and DH ends up freezing. I can only speak for myself, stealing all the blankets is not intentional, honest.:)
Wishing you well on your interview today! Please let us know how it goes. They would be crazy not to hire you.
Have you ever listened to a bird's heartbeat? I went to get Dill out, so we could go outside, and when I went to pick him up, I looked in horror at all the feathers and down strewn all over his bed. I said to him, "Dill, we could start a business making pigeon feather pillows!" Then I gave him a hug and rested my ear on his back for a minute. I could hear him breathing in and out, and his heart, which must beat close to 200 BPM. It was very relaxing and amazing.
SK- Queen who you know had moved home to Chicago-ish somewhere I think, quit the seemingly perfect job which turned out not to be and was immediately hired back at her old old job.
Knotted Yet and Dirt Diva got new bikes.
Lise found a nice guy. MWBR.
BMO3 had a stroke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A kitty found Annie.
I think that's the highlights...
Thanks, Nanci. 5 days of TD was overwhelming.
Queen - should I offer congratulations? The old old job provides a paycheck which is a good thing. But is the same job a good thing? Just curious. Sometimes you don't know until you try something different.
I didn't know about DirtDiva's new bike. Is it holly-proof?
I've got my fingers crossed for Lise.
Nice summary, Nanci. You should write for Cliff Notes.
Good luck on the interview, Kit!
Happy Friday - most of my work for the day is done. What a relief. Including a deposition of a witness taken in front of my actual client. That's always unnerving. I don't mind being a bobble headed idiot at times taking a depo, but in front of my client ...gah! Anyway, it went fine. Client is satisfied, etc.
nanci can you take notes from nov 30th till dec 22nd and email them to me when i get back from vacation?
Sk- also Fishdoc is almost moved or could be moved to her new home in ___________crap, I can't think of it- but she got the job! New Orleans?
Today's Dove Chocolates:
1. Keep the promises you make to yourself.
2. Hey, why not?
3. When two hearts race, both win. (again)
My heart's a'poundin', but in fear not happiness. Me and my damm soap opera life. MWBR. Sometimes, I swear I am my own worst enemy.
Hmm... unsure of the interview. Didn't get all tingly with good vibes, but don't feel like I made an a$$ of myself, either. Hadda change in the car to get to work less late.
TIRED.
Chica- I saw your pics from the other thread. What an office view. Geez. I keep having dreams of having quit my job, sold my car, and biked to Alaska. Good dreams. :D Somehow, it's always chilly, though...;)
Knot- No! You're not allowed a soap opera life. NDD. ;) (((Knot))) Any comfort I can lend?
