For some reason that kid's left arm looks like it belongs to someone else  :D
Ever since mimi started this thread, I started to wonder where a highly valuable family photo was..the original.
Found it and had it immediately digitized. I have the one and only copy. It's a period piece. :p This actually needs to be sent to another family member for safekeeping. Photos of mother in this type of dress, only is total of 5 different photos of family photos out of several hundred.
1/2 century ago, shootingstar became a twinkle in the eye for real shortly after picture bride mom immigrated and married father....just 2 wks. after she met him in person for first time in Canada.
I'm sorry no childhood bike photos. :p
so that's you? what a cool photo!
Yup. Since I was kid no.1, I was a frequently photographed baby for lst 18 months of life. The youngest in the family is bummed out and jealous, she only has a photo of her at 12 months. Not any earlier. Parents probably too busy and tired.
In ways I can't quite articulate, looking at old photos of parents when they were young with unlined faces, makes me abit sad.
Maybe this thread will inspire more members to post who haven't posted yet. It is a fun thread, mimi.
I'm kid #3. There are hardly any photos of me :p
no infant photos of my sister either.
Now, there are a couple albums for each of my sons. no one got cheated there.
Shootingstar, you look a lot like your mother. She looks so elegant in that dress.
How did I miss this thread, it's fantastic. I'll have to see if I can find any photos of me, I'm kid #4 aka "Whoops!".
What a fun thread this is. I only just discovered it and started browsing. What wonderful pictures!
Better late than never, I decided to jump in with a few photos of my own. The first is the earliest picture I have of me. That's my mom and dad & brother (he was 10 years older).
The next was at a beach near the house where I grew up (on the lower Potomac for you MidAtlantic gals). I am playing in my brother's boat. Note it was named for me :D .
The last is obviously not in the summer! The snow had drifted enough so that we could make a cave! Great memories.
What fun having a brother who was so much older! He could do ANYTHING! I'll bet that's what you thought!
Karen
I am ten and half years older than my brother. I still feel like an only child; I mean I moved out when he was 7. We have only lived in the same city for about 3 years, when he was in middle school/HS. I wish we were closer, as we get along well, but I rarely see him.
I'm the one collapsing the roof of the box fort:

Here's me with the 4th grader buck teeth-- you know... when your head is too small for you new adult teeth!

The obligatory bike picture!

Oh Karen you are so right! I loved him and followed him around all the time. His nickname for me was "Brat" and I am sure I earned it.
I, too, feel like I was an only child because he was gone to college by the time I was 8. He spent two years at a college here in VA, then an appointment to West Point, then the Army, then Vietnam....and he never came home. :( He died December 9, 1969.
Still, the memories are wonderful. Thanks for this thread!
IF Jane, I am sorry about your brother. That was a crazy time. It sounds like you have wonderful memories.
This is the only childhood photo I have - my mom doesn't trust me with them yet - she keeps telling me I might lose them. Keep in mind I am 47 years old. I loved this dress. It came with matching bloomers.
