I totally had the same issue but I persevered and am now completely addicted to House.

I'm able to seperate him from the Black Adder and Jeeves and Wooster cuz it's been so long since I've seen either.
Guess what we're watching again tonight!?
Disc #2 of our 6 disc set! Wooo-hooo!
I watch Jeeves and Wooster repeats every Saturday night on PBS. We have Black Adder on DVD. I love Black Adder.
I read this story in the New York Times today, about a tiny corporate jet that was flying over somewhere in the Amazon. Something hit it- clipped off the wing and the tail. They miraculously found a hidden military airstrip in the middle of the jungle, and landed. Hours later, they found out they were hit by the commercial airliner- which crashe in the jungle with no survivors. It should have been the other way around, logically. Some think that the pilot of the big commercial jet made a drastic move to avoid the collision- saving the small jet. Pretty...I don't know, incredible? Not everything is bad.
I LOVE all this snake stuff.
Anyone watch "The Closer"? We are big fans.
My brother in law is forever persecuting us about watching "The Wire", also. We did watch one episode and liked it.
Hehehehehe... I just caught this part of the drift. Tap dancing enemas?! :D Way to let the cat out of the bag Nanci. Most people think all we do is take xrays. Now that they know the whole story, they'll all be applying to xray school.
Yes, ladies we do more than take naked pics of people all day. We also get to do truly sadistic things to them as well. I especially like the defacation studies, spinal punctures, and retrograde urethrograms. Or how about the occasional guy who thinks he's Adonis and comes out of the dressing booth with the gown hanging open in the front, or better yet, minus the gown. (Yeah, hmmmm, ok. Sir, could you please put that away before I die laughing? )
What a glamorous life we lead. Rad Techs rule baby!
Oh, I need some sleep. Goodnight TD.
...and good morning, TD!
I got pix from the 1/2 marathon overnight: http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showt...962#post129962
Snakes, planes, hey, didn't they make a movie of that?
Date with the Professor was nice, although I liked Southern Gent. better...Professor a bit paternalistic, which can be appealing occasionally to one who most emphatically takes care of herself, but could get annoying. Probably goes right along with being 16 years older than me, and a professor! It's been nice, though, to have intelligent conversations with attractive men two days in a row. Now, why do they have to bunch up like this?! Gotten a couple of emails from the fitness singles site, too. Oh, but I am popular.
Rad techs...you guys do rule. Tough job. Little appreciation.
Lise, a professor....an educated fellow, very nice!!!
I'm off down south for a few days-i'm going chocolate & wine hunting. Remember if any of those sound appealing, pm me and i'm happy to get you some.
Fish-where are you??
Snakes-I haven't seen any yet but just a small peek would be nice.
Have a good day!
c
Hi Drifters!
I posted an update on my pulmonary emboli treatment here: http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showt...051#post130051
Nanci - I read that article, too. It was chilling.
Wow, Lise - when it rains it pours, eh? You are quite the catch!
CC - have fun on your trip. Wine and chocolate - noble goals!!!
Ewwwww...
the Haz-Mat team is here right now cleaning up the apartment next door. My entryway looks like a staging area for a quarantine.
I guess it actually is, isn't it?
I'm eating lunch as fast as I can, then I'm gonna spend my day off in town. At the bike shop.
I hope all this is done before SKnot comes home.
Yikes Knot - am I mistaken or didn't that "incident" happen some time ago? Why are they just here now?
Before I moved to Florida, a guy I knew that worked at the medical examiner's office was starting a clean-up company, and hiring people for $100/hour. I was sure looking forward to that part time job...
I wonder if they're going to tell the new renters what happened. They should- they'll find out.
Did you ever hear why he did it?
Lise- you are becoming quite the popular woman. A professor and a southern gentleman, both wooing you.
CC- Ah whine and chocolate, two of my favourite foods. :D
Maillotpois-Congrats on the half-way point! I wrote in the thread how you are my inspiration. I will be brave and tell my neurologist I plan to train for a tri. He will freak out.
KnottedYet- sorry about the Haz-Mat team being next door. Hopefully they are finished before SKnot comes home.
Not much new here. I faint too often for my liking. It is the d*mn medicine to make my vessels all happy. The neurologist failed to mention that part. He could have mentioned it when he banned me from driving. So, no biking outside-fainting and outdoor biking are not a good mix, at least not for me. I have my trainer in a nice, safe place. Usually I know right before I am to pass out. So far, so good.
On a happy note, my Ibex hat arrived to day and it is lovely. More of an eggplant colour than fuchsia. It is very soft and a cheerful colour.
BMo3 - thanks for your nice comments. There are lots of folks here who are overcoming health hurdles (strokes, cancer, MS, clots, whatever). If we can inspire ourselves to keep going, we'll do great!
And tell your doctor about the tri. Maybe yours is a little more normal than mine. Mine's super sedentary. She just doesn't get it - like she didn't get the breathing problems I was having all spring (which turned out to be PEs). My loss of pulmonary function is perceptible only when I am pushing at a level that she really doesn't get. I suppose I'd have to have had exercise physiology sorts of testing to measure it. It's not like I would be out of breath climbing the stairs - but pushing fast on hills was where I'd have trouble. Hard to replicate or describe to someone who's not an athlete.
That fainting stinks. How long are you on these meds?
Thanks for the pep talk. Most of the time I am okay with my new diagnosis, then I have bad periods and feel sorry for myself and worry about the future and not seeing the boys grow up-yes irrational, I know. :o
I will be on the CCB for awhile, quite possibly for a long, long, time. I am hoping my body will adjust to the medicine with time. He also mentioned blood thinners. Right now, it is just aspirin and the CCB. He wants to see the test results on the 18th before giving me more medicine.
Keep the inspirational stories coming, everyone. And feel free to give me a good swift kick in the rear whenever I begin to feel sorry for myself.
Maillotpois, are you raising money for your marathon?
I am off for a little nap.
BMo3 - Hang in there. I think periods of feeling sorry for yourself are normal. At least I hope they are! I went through a whole weekend where every time I saw someone riding a bike I started crying. Deadly here because there are so many cyclists! But it may even be therapeutic to occasionally step back and realize what's going on, how serious it is and remind yourself how lucky you are.
Well, I hope you don't go on blood thinners, or maybe a lower dose. And I hop you adjust to this medicine you are on. But seriously, sit down and talk to your doctor and find out what he thinks about riding, tri, everything.
Yup. Just because you asked - you can read a bit more about why I am doing what I am doing here: http://www.active.com/donate/tntgsf/tntgsfSBurke1
Yup, it happened a month ago. That room has been left as-is all this time, I guess. Ick. I'm at the library now, staying away from home until after school. Hopefully they'll be done by then. They look scary, in their full-body suits and with booties they change at the threshhold. Sounded like they were tearing the wallboard out when I left.
At least by now everything has dried, so most (if not all) cooties should be dead. It's just gross, and I don't want to be traipsing through it.
I don't know why he did it. One of the other residents of the building said she'd heard it might've been someone else who did it. Police never came and talked to any of us, so I doubt anyone else had anything to do with it.
Several of my errands remain undone (all post office stuff is in the apt) and I won't be working on Flossie's new tires (got 'em!), bell, pump, or computer today.
I'm in a funk because that was such a horrid incident and it's not done yet. For the folks involved it will NEVER be done. Bad stuff in the world. But it's a beautiful day and the library has a nice view of the water and islands and ferries. So I'll look at that for a while.
BMo3 - hang in there. Glad you're not riding outside. Fainting in public is such a socially embarrassing event (ha! you thought I was gonna say something about how dangerous it was! Hee hee! I'm so bad!)
No, really, fainting while zooming along on the bike would not be good. Fainting while swimming might be in the "bad" column, too. Running? Well, that could be inconvenient, too. Good that you can ride your trainer and get off before you faint.
Get one of those "iron dog" ti tri bracelets and have something inspirational engraved in it to keep your enthusiasm up. Then when you do your first tri you can get another one with your time in it. Maybe pass your inspirational one on to someone else who is working on their first tri.
YEah, look at me, retail therapy! You've got a hurdle on the way to your tri, I tell you to do *more* shopping! (the Ibex hat sounds good!) My apt building has psychic cooties today, so I go do some bike-goodie shopping!
Lets ALL go shopping!:D
bikemom,
boy, try to remember that this treatment is temporary!! If my batty aunt can handle it; you can too. Then you get bragging rights for the rest of your life.
Knotted, I had no idea that it took THIS long to clean up after a suicide. how awful for all of you in that apt complex.
on the other hand, you get extra extra points for helping our fellow TE gal to get her bike to the shop!!
now i will go back to my semi-awake state at work...
Thank you KottedYet (love that name!) the idea of retail therapy is a good one! I will do a tri, maybe many more. I received a card in the mail for Team In Training and plan to sign up. I will need to travel to compete, but I am so ready to begin. Yep, Will clear it with Dr.V first.
Thank You Mimitabby for the lift me up and if your "batty aunt" can handle it, so can I! :D
Sarah- I went to your Team In Training link, which made me cry, but in a good way. My first rretail shopping therapy begins with you! When you get a chance, please let me know more about Team In Training as I received a flyer and card to return to sign up for a meeting in either October or November.
You know my student, the one who has to memorize the six venomous snakes of Florida? He made a miraculous catch of a fainting patient today. I am so proud of him!!
Here's a picture of Fagalo. I have had him for almost a year, and never taken a picture of him. There's a reason why- he is very non-compliant! All he does is spin and run away- he barely pauses for a second!
Aw, Jennifer/B3, fainting sucks big time. :( I am so sorry you can't ride outdoors. Is walking outside OK? I guess not if you're prone to becoming, well, prone at odd moments! Argh. I'd feel massively way much sorrier for myself than you are right now. I admire your attitude. Of course you'll have down moments. Even days. And you will get through this, and adjust, and find a way. That first triathlon will be so sweet. I agree--tell your doc. It's part of making your dream become reality.
MP, thanks so much for posting your TNT link. Great story and picture.
KN, I'm glad you got to go hang out at the library. Maybe it would help to do a clearing/cleansing ritual at your home, if you're into that. I can tell you what I've done in the past to spiritually "cleanse" a place if you want to PM me.
Nanci--great picture of Fagalo! (I'm still reading the Postal Bus book, BTW. You're right, it's not well written, but it's good for my 15 min of reading before falling asleep) How funny that a turtle "spins and runs away"! I got your package today, thanks! I'm looking forward to watching the Badwater DVD. What an incredible endeavor.
CC--how's the new house shaping up? I got the notice today that your package is here. I will go sign for it at the post office tomorrow. Thanks!
..................
I need some TD Gals input: When I signed up for TE, I signed up with my own name, just laziness, really. Now I'm worried that one of these guys I go out with might Google me and "read up" on my posts here. So I think about changing my handle here to be more anonymous. What do y'all think?
Catching up on TD, so forgive me if I'm being redundant...
Yes - they will eat mice. We had one a number of years ago when I was a grad student. The are awesomely cool snakes!
BMo3 - your snake in the water is likely a water snake. They're a bit feisty and will readily bite. I've been bitten by them a number of times (doing wetlands surveys and stupidly picking them up). They will also eat toads. I have also seen Queen snakes eat toads (in MD). They are pretty. Nanci - have you seen one of these?
I'm here CC. We were away for a couple of days doing a walk-through on the new house, me having a meeting at my new place of work, and .... da da da da.... Mr. Fish got a job! He's going to be working at LSU doing fish ecology research. Heh heh - we can now really call him Mr. Fish! The lab will pay for grad school for him after a year. Totally ideal situation!
Lise - Fantastic on the southern gent and Mr. Prof. You're on a roll! Just reading your posts about southern gent - you sound relaxed and at ease. Could be good!
Gotta run - dinner just showed up! Gourmet pizza! Yummmm! I'll finish catching up later.
What wonderful news! Great, now he's legitimately "Mr. Fish", but you're not a Fishdr anymore! Sheesh. Mixed marriage.
How interesting that you noticed that in the post. I felt more relaxed meeting him than I have anyone else. And I'm feeling more relaxed (now. Of course it's Wed, not Sat yet...) about the second date than I have with anyone else. Interesting...Quote:

Here's the trailer for his latest, Ghost Rider.
http://us.video.aol.com/video.index....pmmsid=1731145
It looks creepy, but I think I could handle it. Try to ignore the fact that most of his movies have sucked. I love him anyway.
If he's Mr. Fish, who's gonna be Mr. Mom???
You know what's totally relaxing- Choco, three or four glasses of wine, Grey's Anatomy.
I _am_ going on a bike ride Saturday, I swear!! 200k! 9 of 12 needed for the Super Randonneur Award. Around Lake Okeechobee. A place I always wanted to see. I hope it's not as disappointing as my trip to Okeefenokee Swamp...
i'm back! phew! you gals that live in the 'real world' i tip my hat to you. how stressful running around doing errands and appointments. then again it was compounded for me because i don't do it all the time. glad to be back home in a calm enviroment.
spent way to much money, but got some neat stuff. got a iPod nano the 8 GB. downloading software for it as i type! so excited to use it, though its so small i'm afraid to lose it! its my first iPod. *sniffle* also got a bunch of new clothes. no where to wear them, but still got them. makes me feel better about going out in public, the next time i have to.
well i'm off to finish unpacking and cleaning clothes. hope everyone is having a good week so far. i'll catch up on TD and TE in a bit.
cheers!
"Mixed marriage"! Tee hee! That's a good one.
Yeah, Fish, who will be Mr. Mom???
Nanci I am so impressed by the Super Rando award - you will get it and we will all be so excited for you!! Man you've accomplished a lot this year!
Thanks you guys so much for the encouragement and support on the marathon thing! Yeah, the TNT story is probably a good one. Jennifer if you've got specific questions, whatever, just PM me - no need to drift TD too far with a full on discussion of that!!
Thank heaven I knit!!! I am trying to set up my second bike (for the trainer), duplicating the measurements that the bike fit guy gave me for my lead bike, and it's in centimeters. Of course our tool kit measuring tape is all in inches. I remembered my knitting basket and dug out a tape measure that has metric also. Whew!
Yipee! Woohoo! It's done, complete, finished (well, I could always do it again). All 272 miles of the Long Trail in Vermont. Completed my last 41 miles Sun, Mon, Tue, though the whole hike was 48 miles road-to-road. I had a great time. Here's the synopsis:
Sunday - pouring rain, the trail was a river most of the way (but that's the norm). I didn't care. I was happy as a clam to be out there hiking. Did 12 miles and spent the night at Skylight Lodge, an enclosed cabin by Skylight Pond. dh decided at the last minute to come along, but he turned around Monday morning with blisters and leaky raingear.
Monday - overcast and socked in til about 3 pm. The trail was still very soggy, the boots were still sopping wet. Hiked 16 miles and saw no one (except that I crossed 2 roads and saw cars go by). Spent the night at Sunrise shelter. Slept well for 11 hours.
Tuesday - morning sunshine and warmer weather had me down to a T-shirt and shorts. Since I hadn't seen a soul on the trail in 2 days, I changed shirts right on the trail and stood there soaking up the sunshine while 1/2 naked for almost 10 minutes. Felt really good. I did pass one thru-hiker heading north later that day. The afternoon clouded up and drizzle became steady about 4 pm. I was considering pushing for 19 miles and the road but ran out of daylight and oompf, stopping at the Tucker Johnson shelter at 6 pm after only 17 miles. This shelter marked the completion of the trail for me (see pic #1). Rain stopped in the evening but very foggy at night.
Wednesday - short hike out, but the clearing weather caused me to take the uphill detour to Deep Leap Overlook for the only good views of the trip. See pic #2. Back to my car about 10 am. Due to the hour I finished, I didn't get to eat breakfast or lunch or drink Long Trail Ale at the Long Trail Inn.
Favorite food - turkey jerky
Wildlife - few dozen ruffed grouse (they flush at 30 ft), heard some ravens, one owl. Lots of moose prints in the trail, but no moose sightings. No bear either.
Foot report - hiking in wet socks and boots for 3 days is bound to take a toll, and I have sore spots on the top of a couple toes, but not bad at all.
great job deb! beautiful pictures!
Ahhhhhh! That's one of the things I don't like about California. No hardwoods and therefore the fall colors just ain't the same.
Lise, i can certainly understand wanting to change your name. Even without using my real name i got discovered at another site. my psil (psycho sister in law) found me and read through months of posts - found one where I *****ed about her and family life was holy hell for awhile.
we will have to come up with an interesting handle for a hot triathlete baby catcher
Nanci- Fagalo is adorable. Have a great ride on Saturday. Your riding inspires me to strive to do more.
Lise- If you feel at all uncomfortable, then definitely change your handle. I imagine the gals on TD could come up with some creative ones.
Fishdr- Congratulations to Mr. Fishdr!
CW- Welcome back. :)
Sarah- I too have indeed found knitting to have many uses.
Deb- Great hiking report and photos. The autumn leaves are gorgeous.
In 24 hours, I am behind 4 entire pages of TD?? Wow, I am awed! And also can't remember everything. :(
A few pages back, someone asked about twins and what office my DH was in the running for. No twins here, that is BMo3, I believe. (And I can't imagine how she does it, either!) DH(mine) is running for local office of County (District)Attorney. He's been in the office for 25 years, as an assistant. Was going to run when the former CA retired. Then former CA died, unexpectedly, which threw the office into uproar. And now we're in the midst of a somewhat heated election. I will be most glad and grateful when November elections are over!! The stress right now is terrible. Riding my bike is so wonderful. I ride, and I don't think about much at all. Just pedaling along.
Interesting info about snakes, Nanci! My brothers had snakes as pets when we were growing up. They (the snakes, not my brothers) were very fine pets. I'd help catch crickets and caterpillars and such for them. As they got larger, we'd have to order what I think you call "pinks" for them. Until my Mom rebelled. Then they were released. Then they had chameleons and we had to catch flies, alive, for them! Not an easy task. :o
I still have my little lost cat. She is quickly finding her way into our hearts and home. If she's claimed, fine, I could never keep her from someone who loves her. If not, she has a new home. I've been taking photos, but until I know she can stay, I can't get too attached and share the photos.
Interesting dates, Lise, to say the least! Hang on to Mr. Southerner. Sounds like he's a possibility, at least. Be wary, but enjoy.
What absolutely gorgeous pics, DebW!! The fall colors are starting here in Iowa. This weekend, or next, might be the peak.
Had a lovely Frescabaldi Chianti with dinner tonight. Tried it for the first time. With chicken parmigiana. Very nice pairing.
Time to go. Have a good night, all.
