No pumpkin pie for you!
BikerZ! Nice of you to drop by! And you win the prize. What'll it be? ScharffenBerger? Rafanelli? :p
Ha! No prize necessary! Just the satisfaction of being right!:D
I have to confess that chocolate is wasted on me - I like it, but I probably wouldn't jaywalk across a busy street for it. Rafanelli, on the other hand...
My favorite lines from that movie are:
"How do you know she's a witch?"
"She turned me into a newt." <...wait for it...> "I got better"
[OK - gotta get back to work!]
Fishdr-I spend most of my life in pre-migraine, migraine, or post migraine. I am without pain for maybe a week out of a month. The million dollar question is what is causing them. Neurologists have been watching me for 23 years trying to figure that one out. I gave up trying to long ago. They are not hormonal based nor do foods trigger them. We do know my serotonin is all whacked out (okay, I know there is a fancy term for that, work with me). More tests on the 18th, but those are to determine if another stroke is imminent, check for clots, etc.
As long as I have chocolate, I can get through the mix of emotions I am going through. Knowing I could have a stroke was so different from actually having one. My boys are young, I am young, and darn it, I will participate in a triathlon.
I am slipping into pity mode, I will go grab the chocolate my SS sent and not bother everyone.
BMo3 - maybe something in the new round of tests will give some indication of the cause. Technology now is so much better than even 5 years ago. It might be worth trying to figure it out. At least the world will never run out of chocolate! Focus on the triathlon. Geez - you're a mom of 3. That alone proves you're tough as nails! Hang in there. We're here for you. Please don't ever feel like you're boring us with your medical stories. If you need us, we'll be there. Now - go eat more SB, toodle around the neighborhood on your bike and hug your kids :)
Biking Mom- Take good care of yourself! I'm so sorry to hear about the stroke, but hopefully there will be better news in the days ahead. Gotta keep playing the cards we're dealt...
Still waiting on news from one of those prospective employers... finding out that the dry-dry-dry air at work is causing me total agony with the contacts... gruh. lots of rewetting solution. =P Other than that, so wild to get up in the morning and see even when first opening my eyes. Correction, though, I don't have the O2Optix, I have the night&days... the 30 day ones (o2optix are 2 wk removeables...)
it's turning into a LONG monday. =P
butt-shots? ... I'm skairt.
OK, so the drink of this weekend was the B-52.
Grand Marnier, Irish Cream and Kaluah. All must be chilled; GM and K in the freezer, IC in the fridge b/c putting it in the freezer does weird things to it.
In a liqueur glass (or really big shot glass) layer as such, pouring each over the back of a chilled spoon, rinsing the spoon off between ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Kaluah
1 1/2 oz Irish Cream
1 1/2 oz Grand Marnier
Pour veeerrrry slowly over the back of the spoon to layer. It takes some practice.
If you don't feel like all that work, then throw the above into a shaker with ice and shake the h*ll out of it, then serve.
Taste is that of an orange creamsicle dipped in chocolate, or one of those chocolate oranges you have to hit on something to break apart. Too good. =D
ahh yes my personal bar tender. glad you made it to the party
*grin*
Hey, just catch a flight south and spend the weekend... I'll play around with every GM/K/IC combination there is (and just you wait and see if I could find Sambuca!)
When I really *was* a bartender in my other life (back in 1980, apparently before you were born..) - B52's were the big thing. I made dozens of trays of them every night... Then we invented a B52 "float" (pour the b52 ingredients over the rocks and add coke. Weird but tasty...

It is nice to know I can have a pity party here with all of you should I need another one. You gals are awesome!
Okay, I do not know who my SS was, but she rocks! I have been overdosing on SB. Did you know the SB hot cocoa mix can be melted and used for dipping fruit and pretzels in? I highly recommend it. :D
Kitsune-I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for a wonderful job offer.
Pity I am not allowed to drink. :( I recall B-52s. Kelownagirl-I was around in the 80s, a snotty private school girl, who um may have once or twice dabbled with B-52s.
Any ideas for a cool hat I can wear to hospital that will double as a cycling hat to keep me warm over the winter months under my helmet?
Jumping into TD right now.....
Don't know nothin' 'bout a drinkie named B52 but it sounds tasty........ How about an Irish Car Bomb? Also tasty! 1/2 pint Guiness with a 1/2 oz of Baileys, 1/2 oz of Jamison's Irish Whiskey dropped - boom- into the glass. Drink quickly!! Mmmmmmmmmmm! Or you'll end up with a cement mixer.
BMo3 - Migraines - BAD, AWFUL! I can relate, tho' I have not suffered to the degree that you have. Treatments are out there. Hope you can find one to help.
Chocolate, in any form. Not my chosen vice. Hope you all enjoy the chocolate of your craving. Give me caffeine. Give me wine. Give me spices. Give me time to ride my bike!! You may have your chocolate. :p :o Think of it this way........ more for you!

BMo3 - how 'bout some of the wool helmet liners at Ibex? I want one. www.ibexwear.com
these are cute: http://www.ibexwear.com/F06/View_Pro...&CategoryLine=
and so are these: http://www.ibexwear.com/F06/View_Pro...&CategoryLine=
yes, I am an Ibex addict. I admit it freely.
but there is also Terry's helmet beanie with the chickie riding no hands and no feet and NO HELMET embroidered on it.

Huh. I've heard of the drink, but never with the Irish Whiskey in it.
The best thing I can ever reccommend is the fairly-rare Damiana liqueur. The scent is floral, almost like a perfume. Taste is light, delicate, but rich. Very hard to describe. #1 suggestion is chilled, half/half with Jaeger. #2 is mixed with 7-up, but neat on the rocks is good, too. mmm.
These all sound like mighty sweet drinks girls, kinda making my teeth hurt.
**curls up with her tart LemonDrop**
I like my whiskeys and liqueurs and such straight. No ice. No water.
there are a couple mixed drinks I like: gin and tonics, Margaritas
Red wines are good, generally. And champagne is ok.
but I really like BEER!
(Jaegermeister just isn't the same since they took the opiates out. Probably just after you were born, Kits. Mid-to-late 1980's.)
mmmmmmmmmmmm
Champagne!
KnottedYet "Probably just after you were born, Kits. Mid-to-late 1980's"
ah HAH, a clue
I think their shipping is fast. Maybe 3 or 4 days from Vermont to Seattle? Often it seems to arrive sooner than I expected. When you call, you can ask. They are also very cool about returns. I really like Ibex. I have no complaints about anything I've ordered. It all survives the washing machine (cold water) better than my Icebreaker or Duofold.
What color hat are you gonna get? I haven't decided yet.
I kinda like the currant "Skimmer" and the black "Meru".
Thanks Annie. :) I have had migraines for 23 years, numerous neurologists and even more treatments. There is not much left, but to try to prevent another stroke. Right now I am on a treatment that I was on about a decade ago, we are just recycling them. Hopefully the tests will result in another answer. I should hold out hope, not give in. I am just tired of all the different meds. :(
I like all the colours. Tonic is really nice, although black is most practical, since it will show the sweat less. If I was wealthy I would buy one of each. So tonic or black? Fushia is nice a cheery. I do not know. I will mosty likely dream of the hats tonight. :)
JEEZ! I go to work, a little family get together, and you all go berserk!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR FISHBEEDR!
Jennifer/MO3--you've got a lot of respect coming your way from me. I've lived with chronic pelvic pain for years. It made me very crabby and self-pitying. I can't imagine the neuro symtoms you have and the pain over and over for 23 years. Well, I can *almost* imagine it, but I can't imagine being so positive and so involved in life, as you are. Sending you a hug (((MO3))).
Kitsune, Snap--wishing the best possible job for you both.
Chocolate. Yes. That's all I'm saying.
Tired, so very tired...can I go back to not working, yet they make regular deposits in my account? I liked that.
I have a date tomorrow night with Mr. FarAway. I had a fun conversation tonight with another guy who seems cool, and, like me, doesn't drink. Then there's the 62 year old professor, we have a phone chat date tomorrow. Oh, I am a popular girl. Funny thing, the 51 year old non-drinker is getting his master's at the university where the 62 year old is a professor...I had brief visions of running into one while out with the other. Haven't met either of those two yet. MWBR!
Had a great time with my sister/family/Mom tonight. My little Maya (the niece you saw in the picture about 50 pages of TD ago!) is so in love with her Aunt Lise. There's nothing like that. She was reminiscing about, "Aunt Yeesa, you rememboo the time we went to Kiddieland? You rememboo? An' we went on the plane ride and you were laughing and laughing! You rememboo?" Yes, sweetie, I remember. Oh, what a joy. :D
To bed. I feel completely unready for this 13 mile run on Sunday. Heck. It may be my slowest race ever! :p Jamie and I have dubbed our running style "Consistently Slow".
I am nervous and happy for you! Where will you and Mr. Faraway be going? And a phone date. Wow, you are popular, two dates in one day.
I do so hope you plan to report to those of us who need to live vicariously through others.
Your family time sounds as though it was quite delightful.
Sleep well.
Lise-they were bad, but I has so many other things go wrong, they seamed minor. Pregnancy #1-became ecclamptic, had a seizure, hemorrage, and a premature baby (he was huge at 5 pounds, blue and floppy). Pregnancy #2-on hospital bedrest the entire time. My twins had TTTS, I was pre-ecclamptic (became ecclamptic), gestational diabeties, and spent a large portion of my time on Magnesium Sulphate (for the record, I HATE that stuff). Again, premature babies. Very premature babies. Upside, all are healthy, active and happy boys now. :) For the record, I was told I would most likely not survive a third pregnancy and measures were taken during delivery #2.
Well, now everyone knows my complete medical history  I have no secrets left. :o
I am off to attempt sleep. It is way past my bedtime and DS #1 has a dreadfully early cross country meet.
As for Ibex helmet liner, I think fuschia is in the lead.
Night All.
Don't let the bedbugs bite.
I can't sleep, either. UGH!! Just finished off three (!) pieces of olive and mushroom pizza. Yumm! So I eat instead of sleep. Leaving me wondering how many extra miles I need to bike to wear off the night-time calories!!
Running 13 miles is beyond my imagination at this point. I am doing well to manage 3. And my muscles hurt like he** after trail running yesterday.
I'm now thinking I was lucky to "only" have migraines! And not all the associated problems like BMo3 is dealing with. <<HUGS>> to you.
Best job wishes to those hunting! Those out there in the dating field, also!
How often does one check TD to stay current? Daily? Hourly? By the minute? ;) :) I'm a little overwhelmed, but I'm tryin'
annie
Wow B3! Sound like life is rough just now! I had my first (and hopefully last) migraine relatively recently - I thought it was hideous at the time, but it was nothing compared to what you've gone through for so long!
