ahem. I guess i didn't make myself very clear. I bought that blue teeshirt online too.:o
wool weenie alert! Ibex mens long sleeve on Steep and Cheap :)
wow, they're gone already. need some skis?
yes I would love some skis but I think I am too late... maybe next time
She gave me a gift certificate for Ibex!!!!!
Hot Doggies! (maybe turning middle-aged is ok after all?!?!)
Of course, my first thought was that I could get HER something with it! Ain't love grand?:D
nice going Trek. Happy spending, Knot. I might NEVER take off my blue wool teeshirt. it's COLD today
There's a whole passel of women's Icebreaker sweaters on Steepandcheap.com right now... lots of sizes and in black, gray, pink, plum. :D
Mmmm, Icebreaker..... (I love my Icebreaker zip-T)
Mmmm, Surly Crosscheck in glossy black.... (must save money, Zip-T remains an only child, for now.)
Whoa, that was weird. There were still tons of sizes/colors available and SAC pulled the Icebreaker item down. (Anyone need crampons?)
No fair. :(
Just got the Smartwool boxer briefs I ordered.
Very lightweight, nice for summer.
However, be warned, Smartwool's "Large" is a good bit smaller than Ibex's "Large." And like all of the Smartwool clothes I've encountered, not quite as nicely made as Ibex and I'm not expecting them to be as durable as Ibex. But not bad at half the price of Ibex.
Hey, Surly has wool jerseys! Long and short sleeves.

got my b-day present Ibex Switchback pullover. Been wearing it for 2 days now. (even slept in it!)
'nuff said?
My Switchback pullover is a lovely dark charcoal gray. The accent stripe on the neck and embroidered Ibex logo on the center of the shoulders are a limey-yellow green.
I luuuuuuv it.
Oh no. The wool weenies thread slipped to 9th in the apparel forum. Now it will be #1 again.
I made a stop at the PI factory outlet store in North Conway, NH on Saturday and walked out with a gorgeous PI wool jersey for $45. It even has a small zippered chest pocket.
thank goodness for wool!
Nice shirt Deb!
just came back from a weekend in Mazama washington, where weather RULES.
the ride was over mountain passes and the weather was coming in so bad that they cancelled part of it.
Needless to say; when we DID ride, wool was worn!
:D
Well, I have read through a whole lot of this thread and didn't see this company mentioned. Although this is not bike specific, I think it would work great as a jersey with the short sleeves, front 1/4 zipper, and a side pocket.
And wool of course..

That's all I have to say...
Go get it!

Got it. One in plum, one black. Thanks for the heads up:)
Okay...I've been watching this thread for a long time. I LOVE wool. Grew up in Colorado wearing it fall, winter, and spring. I still wear it here in NorCal. And while I believe one can never have too much wool clothing, storage gets to be problematic. I just hauled all my wool sweaters to the dry cleaners so they'll be nice and clean for summer storage. But in doing so, I got to thinking that some of the sweaters are ready to be replaced. They're still in good shape, I'm just tired of the styles and/or colors.
So I took both the Ibex and the SAC plunge and ordered one in plum. Probably should have ordered black, too. I have a feeling this may be the beginning of something that's going to become a fun, but possibly expensive, habit. :D
on SAC right now....

smartwool at S&C but almost gone. How'd we miss this?
I had asked a while back if anyone had seen this...
https://www.nau.com/homepage/index.j...ucts/107W500&4
Well, I ordered one and really didn't like it. First of all I normally wear a large and this one was HUGE! The wool is also a little scratchy and quite heavy for a short sleeve shirt.
They seem like a good company, you get to pick a charity to donate a portion of your sale to. Too bad my first time ordering was something I really didn't like. I will be sending it back.
ugh, too late, men's mtb shorts.
nope, now it's a helmet. One with sharp pointy bits on the back :(
I always thought of wool as a cold weather sort of fabric. Now I wonder. What temperature does it become to warm to wear wool?
I own a wool tank top. I replaced all of my polypro items with wool. So, basically anytime you would wear synthetic I would say you could replace it with wool. I have some super thin Smartwool shirts that I wear on 90 degree days. I have never biked without wearing wool. I don't think there is ever a temperature that you couldn't wear wool!
yeah, but, Nicole does it ever get HOT in Port Townsend? whenever I've been there it's been 10 degrees colder than Seattle.
PS, are you up for Hurricane Ridge Tomorrow?
Like Alaska!! :D
Seriously, it got to 90F three years ago in Denali. You are right about Port Townsend, it doesn't get too warm. I have worn my wool in the desert in Utah and Nevada however.
Next time give us more notice and my BF and I will join you for sure. He would love that. (So would I). We are in Victoria this weekend. Sorry we will miss you.
My new Ibex Switchback Pullover SHRANK!!!!!!
Like, painfully tight, look I'm Dolly Parton, cutting off circulation, sqeezing my spaghetti-like biceps TIGHT!!!!
I've NEVER had ANYTHING from Ibex shrink before!
Washed it the same as all my other woolies (including my other Switchback), cold water (the hot water hose is disconnected from my washer, so I'm certain it was cold!) gentle cycle, hang dry.
AAAAAAG!
(tried to call them, but they are closed for the weekend.)
