theav - thanks for answering all my questions. I ride both road and mountain so Im looking forward to hitting the roads and trails on my return to Aust.

Yep Canberra sure is chilly in Winter but I think Northern California will have toughened me up a bit (I try to keep riding thru winter here even when it snows).

Good to know I have someone in Canberra to get all the good riding info from. I hope we can get together for a ride when I get to the ACT.

Not my bike though. :) It was a rental. Dh and I biked around Napa County this weekend while we were vacationing there. The area was so beautiful!!!

snow :eek: you'll be fine in canberra... the worst we get is frost! although i have ridden home in a hailstorm... ouch that hurt! decided that was the last hailstorm i'm doing :mad:

canberra has some great mountain bike tracks too apparently. DH and friend go riding on them...i wouldnt know, cos my middle name is "straight and level" :o

if we could just get rid of the pollies and put in an ocean... canberra would be perfect!

would love to catch up for a ride when you get here :D always looking for a reason to ride!

sorry, slang. down here we abbreviate everything and put "ie" onthe end of it. Hence politicians are pollies, vegetables are vegies, postmen (and women) are posties, breakfast is brekkie.... the list goes on :)

Did you bring your pedals and have the rental joint put them on for you? My hubby and I brought our bikes out on our trip to British Columbia earlier this summer, but between the bike box rental, the flight charge, and 2 days of "delayed" baggage (1 day each side), not to mention the dent my poor Pilot had to suffer (it's cosmetic but still, I was bummed ya know), I can't help but think renting would have been easier and probably cheaper. The problem is how do you find places that rent good quality bikes?
