Another ex-biologist here. Degree in marine biology. Not much for the lab - although I do miss the boat work - and writing papers. I gave it all up for the sure paycheck of a policy job. Oooo...yay me! :rolleyes:

I would think, given enough time, that a banana slug could devour a patch of okra. What can an okra do? :)

I used to do that, too. Mostly worked with commercial crab species, their environments, and predators. I miss the boat work and the lab and the beach work.

Yeah, the pay was pretty iffy and scarey... but the "sampling" of those big juicy red rock and dungeness crabs was mighty fine! *drool* :D

Another banana slug here....alum of UCSC. Class of 77.

In my "spare" time I also bake and garden, both of which I like to do with my 2-year-old son. My husband and I have been renovating our house off and on for 11 years.

You know there is a team called the Fighting Okra - Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. I lived there for 5 years.

My job - Molecular Biologist - was on fish, now bees. DNA is DNA as they say. My focus now is detecting genes associated with mite resistance. No grants to write - the joy of being a fed.
