Thanks! I appreciate it! I signed up yesterday, and I think the online journaling is really awesome. I am very much learning, but I love sorting through the foods and recipies to compare each different food.
How do you journal your cycling? I have read through different threads here, but it really didn't answer it for me. 30 miles drafting in a group is different from 30 miles alone is different from 30 miles in a tri while racing. How do you do that?
I guesstimate it. Basically, when you choose an activity, you also have to choose an intensity. I usually think about the course, how much climbing there was versus flat, and try to be honest about my level of effort.
If I do a 2 hour ride that involved a half hour of climbing, I'll probably put down the half hour of climbing at high intensity, an hour of moderate, and the last half hour (which involves the descending portion) at low. Seems to work for me.
That's pretty much how I do it- guess how much is low, moderate or high. I just got the hand-me-down heart rate monitor from my dh when he upgraded. It tells me how many calories I've burned. 100 calories = 1 activity point. I never actually use any of my activity points, but I do use up at least half of the weekly points now that I am cycling. It makes me feel happy to see all those unused activity points accumulating though!
I also found a site where you can calculate the calories if you want to check it out:

Weighing in for the week as I will be leaving town EARLY in the morning! Today: 168.4. Down again a small amount!.
Lots of hard work this week. My friend and I have started the P90X videos, and got in some biking and a run, and are working on watching what we eat better. It seems to be helping... my every abdominal muscle is screaming when I move! This can't be bad. Can it? :p
Have not weighed in in a while - 146!
Yes- I think they changed the program at some point, but I wasn't very active so I didn't get many activity points then anyway and didn't pay attention.
Here I am..still haninging in at 153.
174.8 Clearly, my body was ready to get rid of those first 5....but it still makes me happy :D
I'm doing the happy dance- I'm down at least one more pound to 128.

148.4. My pants are loose though and I can definitely tell I've lost at least an inch if not more around my lower waist. I've been lifting 1-2 times a week plus biking 5-6 days a week so I think I've been putting on muscle which is why I haven't seen the scale move.
Oh well, I'll keep trucking along and maybe I'll see a downward trend one of these days!!
234.2
The diet and exercise thing is finally kicking in to rev up my metabolism, I think, and my doctor put me on Metformin, a drug that helps regulate insulin efficiency, I think, in diabetics, but for me it's treatment for suspected polycystic ovarian syndrome/disease. I also had to get back on my high blood pressure meds last week because my numbers were creeping back up into the danger zone. I think the meds are working together with the diet (Lose it! On my iPhone) and exercise- long rides + swiiming and elliptical several times each week.
