Another crash involved a bicyclist who collided with a tractor-trailer about 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Western Avenue and Broad Street. The male bicyclist was taken to Harborview with minor injuries, said Kappel. The truck driver was not hurt.

The tractor-trailer was north on Western and turning east on Broad. The bicyclist was on the east side of the intersection, he said. Police were investigating what caused the crash.

Some witnesses reported that as the truck turned, its trailer clipped the bicyclist on the corner. But other witnesses reported seeing the bicyclist run into the truck, he said.

"Our witnesses were split right down the middle," he said.
