Ruby Slippers

TE has the gorgeous ruby slippers (Sidi Dominator MTB shoes) on sale, if any fence-sitters hadn't noticed.

Oh my they're pretty! It makes me very sad that the description says they're for "low volume" feet. Mine do NOT fit that description!!!

I tried to get a second pair. I don't really need them... so I got the veto. They aren't quite reduced enough. They are great shoes though.

If you can't have the shoes, you should at least get the top as a consolation prize. It matches the "old" shoes so well!

Doesn't "low volume" typically mean "not for high arches?" I wear (different) Sidis, and I have average arches and wide toes/narrowish mid foot/average heels.

Not sure about high volume. I have what I call "tall feet." Somewhat narrow forefoot and heel, but astronomically high instep and arch made even higher with orthotics (gotta get me some cycling specific orthotics). I take out the insole and extend the buckle strap to it's max. Only shoe (with the Genius)I've ever found that fits my instep properly. The previous model without the adjustable instep strap doesn't extend far enough -- just like the other bagillion shoes of the same generation. I won't admit to how many pairs of Genius/Dom 4/5s I own.

I love my Sidi Doms, and I have a very high arch. When I last tried on other shoes and chose the Sidis, they were the only shoe that fit my arch.

You can always order them, see if they fit, and return them if they don't...

To me "low volume" feet would mean low mileage. Now enquiring minds want to know what it really Does mean! lol

The volume generally associates itself with the shape of the foot. For instance, if you have a high volume foot: this would be a foot that has a very wide forefoot across the ball of the foot, a very wide heel, and a high instep (which is the top of the foot).

A low volume foot would be considered a very narrow, skinny foot that would have a very narrow forefoot, and an instep on top of the foot that is a little bit lower in its height, but not necessarily flat. It would also be associated with a very narrow heel area.

You can have a high volume foot with a high arch, or you can have a high volume foot with a flat arch. You can have a low volume foot with a high arch, or you can have a low volume foot with a flat arch.

The volume of the foot does not necessarily associate itself with the height and shape of the arch on the bottom of the foot.

The most critical feature in a cycling shoe is fit. Period. Nothing has a more profound influence on comfort, power and performance. It’s why pros always hand carry their shoes when they travel.

LASTS

Mega
If you have high arches, wide (EE-EEE) or high-volume feet you’ll love Sidi’s mega sizing for proportionately larger feet. This is a properly proportioned last—we don’t shortcut the design by simply widening the toebox.

Narrow
Sidi’s narrow last isn’t just narrower, it’s also proportioned to accommodate low-volume feet for a more precise fit. Equivalent to a B-C width.

Women’s
Our women’s last isn’t just a smaller, narrower shoe—it’s shaped for a woman’s lower-volume foot and proportionately narrow heel.
