I am Jenny Ewing's sister MEMORIAL

I am not very good at forums. I couldn't figure out how to post a reply to the original thread, so I hope someone picks this up. I think a memorial to my sister would be very fitting. She LOVED cycling. I know she prayed while she enjoyed nature. She was very vigilant. I guarantee you she took every precaution she possibly could. Her favorite color was probably purple. She wore a lot of purple and black. T shirts would be good too. I know there are at least 24 people in her immediate family that would love to buy one to contribute to your cause. We are a big t shirt family. And if it is a biking shirt we'll wear those too. Thank you all for your concern. God is with my family, I hope you all realize he is there for each of you too.

Thank you very much for posting here. Please know that there are LOTS of women on this forum who care very much about what happened to your sister, and about you and your family. It was really kind of you to post here. We'll do our best to give her a proper cycling memorial from this forum!

WOW! Thank you so much for posting. I have a mixture of goosebumps and tears right now. Tears for what has happened to Jenny, And please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family. Please pass on my well wishes. Even though your sister was a total stranger to me, I felt like I knew her for some reason. I certainly identified with her.
The goosebumps are that from what you posted it sounds like I had a hand guiding me in my idea of a shirt with purple writing. Perhaps she is up there looking down on us.
And again, I'm very glad that you posted because I was very concerned about overstepping my bounds and offending the family. The last thing I would want to do - or anyone here- is do something that the family- or Jenny would not support. But we all want to honor her.

That being said, I am going to email you so that I can get a better idea of what the family and Jenny would truely want us to do in her honor.

Welcome to the forum, and though I don't know if you cycle or not, we are a very tight knit group of ladies here, who support one another. Cyclist or not we welcome you with open arms, and at this time- heavy hearts as we are also mourning your sister.

I hope Jenny's sister doesn't mind, but here is a part of an email that she sent me. I wanted to share it with all of you so that you had a bit more insight about Jenny and her family. Boy I sure wish I had met her. She sounds like someone I would have made fast friends with!!
Sad, and SO senseless it makes me shake!

"Thanks so much. I have a large family and we are all determined that this tragedy will result in some very positive outcomes. Jenny and I have four brothers. We are all trying to deal with this, and I think having any kind of memorial would be great. My mother is also fired up about the idea. I talked to Jimmy tonight (my brother in law). He said that a memorial ride and/or T shirt would be fine. They would like any proceeds to go to the Sandy Springs Mission. They have a website if you are interested in finding out about that charity. Anything that brings awareness to safety for women is great. Just for the record she had pepper spray and her phone on whenever she rode. I have talked to her numerous times when she was on the trail. Somethings just happen. In the future, we are also hoping some serious law changes are seen. Hopefully even a Jenny's Law or some such. I have 14 nieces and nephews as well as 3 sisters in law and Jimmy. We are all each other's best friends. God is seeing us through this. Also, she was one of the funniest people ever. She would be right in there with y'all making a difference. She is 15 years older than me with all of our brothers in between. We are tight. My family really appreciates everyone's concern. Sorry this was a little rambling. I am pretty worn out obviously."

I have been reading what people have been saying about Jenny, and it's so amazing to see that her story has affected people all over the world. I'm glad you found this website, bahki. It really makes the bigger picture easier to understand seeing how many peoples' lives Jenny has changed. Thanks to all of you who have been praying for us. It is greatly appreciated. Someone sent Margaret (Jenny's daughter) this Bible verse to help her through the weeks to come, and I have found myself reading it when I feel sad about all that has happened:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort...On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on ou] behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

I also want to say thank you to whoever is organizing the memorial for Jenny. She loved riding her bike, and it seems only appropriate to honor that. thank you.

Hi, Ashley, I'm glad you found us and got to read how much your aunt's story touched so many of us. Our hearts are with you and your family, and we ache for your loss. L.

I didn't even realize that I had put Bahki in my post, and that no one would know who I was talking to. I love our family :) I just got through reading all of the posts about Jenny, and Bahki is right-- we have experienced such a devastating loss, but this does make it a little better. And it reminds me that rather than sitting around feeling defeated, we can do something to honor Jenny, touch many more people, and hopefully protect future lives from evil people. we should not have to be afraid to leave our houses alone, and something needs to be done with the law to keep evil far away from our communities. keep praying, and let me know if there is anything I can do to help with this memorial, or anything else.

my heart aches and I feel pain for your family and for a wonderful woman that I have never met- but know in my heart. Her story is being told here in the midwest, and women from my cycling community are outraged and saddened. We are all thinking of your family now, and her story will change us all (in good ways for sure). Good will come from this tragedy, and Jenny's love will be felt far and wide. She has left you, but she has been brought to all of us who now know and love her. God bless you all!!!

"I'm sorry for your loss" seems so inadequate...I wish there was something to say that really conveys how much your sister has touched our lives...we've all shed tears and I know she's been in my thoughts since I first heard her story.
May the Lord wipe your tears and hold you close during these difficult days.
