I don't drink martini's but, I do like the socks....
Kerry
Those are cute socks. But there is no olive in a lemon drop martini!:p
I've seen that saying on t-shirts but replace martini with tequila. Now that's my kind of liquor. ;)
Oh, I do like those.....
They are so cool.:)
Very cool. But why do martinis get all the attention?? Wine feels left out!
I don't know what a lemon drop is, but it sounds good. I like some martini thing called an Emerald Dragon. The night my daughter called to tell me she was pregnant, I drank quite a few. My friends renamed the restaurant we were at (706) Blotto's after that incident...
I also vaguely remember sticking my head under the booth to inspect the legs of a cycling/Eco Challenge racing friend, which were, of course, shaved.
But that was a long time ago.
Lemon Drop
1 1/2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce Triple Sec
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
Ice cubes
Superfine sugar for dipping
Twisted peel of lemon
Mix the vodka, Triple Sec, sugar, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice; shake well (supposedly the cocktail is to be shaken 40 times to make sure the sugar is well blended). Pour strained liquor into sugar-rimmed martini glass and garnish with a twisted peel of lemon.
To create a sugar-rimmed glass, take a lemon wedge and rub the drinking surface of the glass so it is barely moist. Dip the edge of the glass into sugar.

Some places don't use sugar in the drink - which I prefer. I like my Drops tart.
I omit the triple sec, and use Absolut Citron vodka instead. Yum. Or optionally, substitute the berry flavored Absolut vodka instead for a raspberry-lemon drop. :) Yeah, I've had a few in my time...
My favorite martini recipe is "The Ultimate Javatini"
1 1/2 oz Vodka
1 oz Kahlua
1 oz Espresso
Shake with Ice in cocktail shaker.
Rim martini glass with vanilla, then roll in a sugar/cocoa powder mixture.
Serve straight up.
These were a huge hit at our TE Christmas party last year. :D
Ruby Martini
1 1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz cranberry juice
1/2 oz blue curacao
Combine in cocktail shaker with ice, shake well, strain into a chilled glass
Apple Martini
1 1/2 oz vodka (regular or apple flavored)
1/2 oz apple liqueur
splash of lemon juice
Stir with cracked ice and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with apple slice or apple candy
Mmm...
My favorite:
1 oz lemon flavored vodka
1 oz Limoncello liqueur
1 oz sweet and sour
Lemon juice and superfine sugar to taste
Mix the vodka, Limocello, sugar, sweet & sour and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice; shake well. Pour strained liquor into sugar-rimmed martini glass and garnish with a twisted peel of lemon.
Yum yum yum!
Or, use Hanger One, either Citron (Buddha's Hand) or Kaffir Lime. The Kaffir Lime makes a lovely tart 'drop.
If anyone lives near a Cheesecake Factory, they make an awsome Chocolate Martini.....
This is all making me very thirsty! In 45 minutes I'm going to see a friend who makes great gin martinis (with Hendrick's! Yum!)
Yummm, Lemondrop martinis. My secret weapon for conquering hills next day:D
Susan, Rock Bottom in downtown Portland has this wonderful house drink with a fairly explicit name. It's made with lemonade, raspberry vodka, and chambord, and it's extremely tasty. Careful, though, as it is also highly efficient...:rolleyes:Quote:
