The kid who refused to touch a bike for the last 5 or 6 years :eek: made the big step! He let my mom's bf teach him to ride in the cow pasture on a Schwinn that was waaaaay to big.
And then he wanted his own bike!
So now he has a Trek hybrid. I snuck the most recent copy of Bicycling home from work for me to read. He took it to bed with him and was reading until long past the time I went to sleep.
HOOOOOOORAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
The bike bug has bitten.... :D

How exciting. My son and daughter (8 and almost 6) are really interested in my bike and my son keeps asking if they make road bikes in his size. I think it would be amazing to have this turn into a family affair!

My daughter (4 and still learning to ride without training wheels) says she is going to ride in a race someday. I hope she keeps that attitude :)

You are on your way to being a cycling family. I thank my son daily for getting me into cycling, getting up at 6 AM on a Sunday to teach me how to ride clipless, and telling everyone that "his mom is cool."
One of the best things about this was one day 2 years ago when he was home on leave. I was just riding home from a friend's house, after being out all day when my cell phone rang. I was really tired and had about 6 miles to go. My son said, "Where are you?" When I told him, he said, "What? You rode 55 miles?" I replied that it was his fault, since he had caused me (and my husband) to spend thousands of dollars and to become addicted!
That's great new, Knott! Kids are funny, eh? If it's his idea, not yours, then it's cool!
Brandy, isn't your husband going to do something with bikes for his work? You'll all be cycling before you know it.
My mom picked it up when she was 60, I started in earnest at 42, my bro-in-law wants a bike now at 39! Patience is a virture...:rolleyes:

missed this thread before - that is so great that he wanted a bike!!! PP has a couple of bikes (plus the tandem), but we don't ride with her nearly as much as we should. gotta do more.
