Had to splurge- Got a new Camelbak for the MS150

I realized that my current Camelbak did not have enough room to hold all the stuff I want to carry (food, sunblock, keys, money, CD player, etc.) on the MS150... so I splurged on a new Camelbak!

It's a women specific design and holds 2.1 liters of water... and it has 2 really nice pockets that can hold a lot of stuff! It also has soft arm straps... and is this pretty blue!

It was $75... but well worth the money. Unfortunately though, it truly is a splurge because I won't wear it but once a year.

Anyone else splurge on something recently that you are all excited about?

Somehow I read that as Camelbak Hygienic Pack. Kind of like when I read about the Topless Climbing Club.

Oh, that's not a splurge, KSH. That's a NECESSARY ITEM FOR CYCLING. A splurge would be, oh...a NEW BIKE or something like that (unless your old bike no longer performs its function as a NECESSARY ITEM FOR CYCLING).

My latest splurge? That would have to be eating breakfast out the other morning. I scraped together all my change and didn't tell DH. I think he did notice that the change jar was a little emptier, though. :p

Yes. It works this way:

Food is a necessary item for cycling. I could eat breakfast at home as I have cereal and soy milk. However, I didn't want cereal and soy milk, even though they would do the trick. And we are currently prohibited from spending money on things that are not necessary for the continuation for the life force. So going out to eat was a splurge.

Well, it was... considering I already have one that is in perfectly good shape... except it doesn't have enough pockets.

And... considering my budget did NOT allow for such an expenditure.

Sounds like your breakfast was a splurge though! I bet you savored every single bit of it! Hopefully your hubby won't take too much notice of the missing change !

DEFinitely a necessary item. I got an REI version on sale some months back. Boy was I lucky! It holds 3 liters + room for some spare gear. (I always need to carry some ostomy supplies and a spare pair of shorts, just in case. Also cool to have a place to stuff the fleece jacket once I'm warmed up.) It's WSD and streamlined, so fits really neat and snug. AND it was on sale. I even got one more for UK Elephant. But, it's a rather pale and boring shade of green. :(

So today, REI sale catalog in hand, I REALLY splurged! Got one necessary item (bright yellow bike jacket with removable sleeves) and lots of other "stuff" -- Leatherman tool for DH, Topeak Alien II for UK Elephant, new and bright red lightweight 35-liter backpack (equiped to take hydration pack, but way too big for doing rides), and and and ... all in all spent over $300. :eek: Even without the "caffeinate me" bike socks I was thinking of getting for Trek420 (Sorry Trek, they only had men's large left). This is what happens when you get taken in by what the signs say you're "saving". :o
