Wow - that would just be too much for me! My best friend from college moved to Tempe (from Boston) and we joke about this t-shirt he saw of a skeleton in the desert with the caption "But it's a Dry Heat!"
I will say I am SO happy to have gotten a complete ride in with NO rain at all yesterday. I think that's a first for the year. Maybe not, but it sure seems that way!!!
Steady on, mate! Some of us are yet to break 20C/70ishF, and still think it's been warm lately. :p

Well, no one can tell me that "It's a dry heat" makes a difference. I remember the day I went to the mall to buy some sheets and towels after we had just moved into our first house. Temperature: 117 degrees F. I had tears in my eyes and thought to myself "It's not fit for any living thing."
No wonder I spent all my time exercising at the gym. I only wish I had started cycling seriously when I was younger, but every time I tried, it was too hot for me.
One of my kids' birthday is April 13th. We used to have a breakfast party, starting at 8 AM, so they could play outside and be finished by 10:30 when it would be 100 degrees. I think we should have had summer vacation in the winter, since no one can be outside in the summer.
Every time I go out to my car after work and the wind is blowing snow and it's 20 degrees out, I remember what 117 felt like and how I had to hold a rag in my hand to open up the car door.
It sure as heck isn't summer in Chicago. Blech. (read betagirl's brevet report if you don't believe me!) I'm cranky because I just pulled the down comforter out AGAIN. I've put it away three times already...but I lie there in bed, huddled with the blanket pulled up over my head, trying to generate warmth otherwise!
Until they "fixed" the boiler in my building, my apt was unbearably hot. Now that it's "spring" in Chicago, it just seems to be off. I know, you all can laugh at me when it's 105 in the shade with 99% humidity, when I, too, have to run before the sun comes up...it just seems like it will never, ever be warm again. Every year, the same...every year, it feels eternal! L.
Yeah, I don't buy that whole "it's a dry heat" thing, either. The year I spent in San Bernardino was the most miserable of my life. I love my humidity. It's not natural to get over 100F.
Here, we're in the 80's during the day, and 50's!!! at night. Perfect.

It's a glorious spring here in the Florida panhandle--it's been dry (almost too dry--no burning allowed just now) and warm, with nice gentle breezes.
I'm trying to enjoy it before the inevitable onslaught of heat and humidity. The humidity never bugged me before I hit my 50s--that time of life when you create your own personal heat and humidity :rolleyes: . But I agree with Nanci on the 100+ degree temps--that's just not right.
Humidity??? BLECHH! I feel like I'm being sufficated. I'll take the "suck your brain cells dry" heat anytime. Last year when I went to Atlanta to visit friends I almost died when I went out for my run. The humidity killed me. It was rather funny though. I slowed down to walk up a hill because I was dying, and the bugs attacked me, so I had to keep running to keep the bugs from eating me alive. It was at that moment that I decided to stay in my barren desert...:D
Well, I better go get the gear ready... It's so nice out right now I want to get on the bike. As soon as the SUV driving carpool moms are off the road I'll be out there!

Yes, Summer weather has arrived in Sunny Southern California... which means grey overcast until noon every day until the middle or end of July (then heats up to 85-105). Great for cycling in the morning/ horrible beach weather. If you ever want to visit SoCal, come towards the end of September. Sunny and cooler.:cool:
Summer has arrived here too. It is thick fog every morning and night! And the ticks and poisen oak are flourishing.

I went for a run this morning. It had rained overnight, so everything was wet and sparkling. Green, fresh, and smelling good. The advantage of needing to walk a block here and there on the run is that I breathe through my nose when I walk (vs. mouth breathing on the run), so I smell all the gorgeous flowers and fresh earth. The weather was cool and sunny, perfect for running and biking.
I even thought, "I have to go back on TE and make up for that cranky post about being cold". I stopped by my sister's this afternoon, and she commented on how cold she was, trying to fall asleep last night. Hunh. Genetic crankiness? :rolleyes: Really, the weather is great today. Not even too windy. Wish I had time to get out on the bike. Tomorrow!
