winter riding clothing

Hi I really am looking into fall .winter riding clothing I would like to do most of my riding outside but I am really clueless about winter ride clothing does anybody have any suggestions:(

it would help to know what kind of conditions fall and winter mean for you.

In the fall which around here is anywhere from 40's to 70's, could be wet or blustery, I wear tights over shorts, insutlaed booties if it's really wet or cold, a liner glove inside my MTB gloves, and various layers on top. Sometimes a headband. But this isn't "winter riding" ...that's a whole nother deal, and I usually hang up the bike and get out the skis.

Sorry I live in North Carolina the weather here is up for grabs, warm to cold not much snow or ice but blustery and temps from 35 to 70 any time temp can go from 40 to 70 by the afternoon Damp is there but each day can be different. We have had so much rain for this summer riding any time is the up for grabs at getting wet. Hopefully fall will be better. I hope that help
North carolina weather is really hard to explain.

I usually wear a short sleeved one and wool arm warmers made from hiking socks with the toes cut out. I prefer to wear leg or knee warmers since I tend to get hot quickly and I can adjust those down as I ride, and wool socks. I have a jacket that I'll wear on descents, but don't usually bother with otherwise. Oh and full fingered gloves. Although I haven't found a pair that I love yet.

It was 110 degrees here yesterday. I can't believe I'm about to talk about WINTER...

If anybody has a good set of full fingered gloves - please share the brand! I've yet to find anything that isn't really bulky or too thin to do much good. I have arthritis in my hands, so when they get cold, they get pretty useless. Not pretty when you need to brake!

Williamtash- You stole our rain! It is weird it has not really rained here (Washington) since June 14 or so. It sprinkled lightly, but it is dry. Leg warmers are my best friend for winter riding and running. I love them. The bugaboo is they are not that warm, and you not only get your shorts dirty, but your leg warmers, so you have two things to wash. I will wear tights if it gets really cold, but I have yet to find a pair I like enough to spend lots of money on. On top I love the wool jerseys also, but need a good jacket to shed the muck. Those Rivendale ones look nice!

what works really good for gloves is a soft shell or Schoeller fabric glove. AT our house, we've found that gloves made for mountaineering and ice climbing, the lighter ones are just perfect for winter cycling. I wear a Fox leather glove with a thin liner until it gets really cold, and then I borrow my hubby's dry tool glove.

THANKS I'll look into that info. You can have all of our rain I am really sick of it . It had to believe we were in a drought last year. I have to good riding jackets but the riding shirts I have not really go I will lokk at the wool ones. LBS friend can help me there on odering stuff they are good about that. I am small so most place in town down have small or xs for me so I have to order. Thanks again:p

Sierratradingpost.com has had some full-finger Castilli gloves in their cycling section for some time...not sure what sizes are left, but they look pretty slick. Also, you may wanna' hold on because the new gloves (padded) that are coming out are going to be even better. They are fusing seams instead of sewing the pads into/on the gloves. I tried on a pair of the new Fox's and they felt wonderful...however, they are expensive. I'm waiting for a "all-items 25% off" day at my LBS before considering purchasing a pair.
I was also told that the padded shorts are also going to be fused instead of sewn.
