I took your advice...and now I NEED your input!

I saw my Doctor yesterday for the painful bump on my crease line of my left inner thigh... the procedure to remove it will be done June 6 :rolleyes: It couldn't just be an ingrown hair now could it??? Nope. I have a sebaceous cyst. Peachy.

My regular doc said she normally removes them, but due to the location and all the nerve endings there she sent me to an obgyn specialist to have it done... So they will cut it out and give me 3 stitches... they said I'll have to be off the bike for 2 weeks... at least they didn't put any restrictions on my riding until then... I just have to deal with the pain of it rubbing... ugh!

anyone had one of these in the same place? What was your recovery as it pertains to riding experience???

I've had a couple dealt to, but not in that area. Neither took particularly long to heal up. You'll need a few days off the bike for sure, but I can't imagine it being as long as two weeks. Still, no way of knowing how much of a break you'll need until you've had it done. The relief of having it gone will be worth the enforced rest.

If it is where I think it is then there is a reasonable amount of "pull" on the skin as you are riding. This is why you will need a couple of weeks off the bike - it is to allow the skin to heal properly and make a strong join, otherwise at the first decent strain, it will pop open again.

Oddly enough, you may find yourself cycling better after a two week break because your muscles will have had a good chance to recover and repair themselves.

It seems that the stars are really conspiring to keep you OFF the bike!

Sounds awful, the little cyst. It's funny how a little thing like that can cause such inconvenience.

But anyhoo, at least you're doing the right thing about getting rid of it, and soon it'll be one less thing to worry about. Sounds like you have a really good GP, who is willing to say that they're not the right person to do the job. There's nothing worse than a gung ho doc.

thanks for the input! yeah, I think the location is the issue with the time off the bike... stupid cyst is RIGHT where the saddle rubs :mad: I've been putting off getting it checked for almost 4 months... just SURE it would magically disappear the way it appeared... but I AM glad I went to get it checked and am having it removed.

Eva... LOL... yeah, the bike gods have it out for me :eek: BUT, you should see my gardens! :D Since I've been home quite a bit more than normal I have done a ton of work... including beginning a second patio and laying out a recycled concrete curved path that will lead to it :) I guess there's always a bright side :cool: :D

bouncy... thanks for asking:) My mom went back to her home last weekend... she is doing well enough now to care for herself again... she has another followup in 2 weeks and is hoping to return to work then...

the cyst really is just an inconvenience... as long as the docs didn't lie about the 2 week recovery thing! LOL... 2 weeks I can handle... someone else suggested 6 weeks but I figured you ladies and the doctor would know best :D
