If anyone can help me out, I'm looking for a pink or puple mountain bike frame to purchase for my wife so I can build her a bike. I've seen one, the Identiti Dr. Jeckyl frame, but they're hard to get ahold of. I've also seen the Surly, but from what I can tell they are only a single speed bike frame and I'm looking for 21-23 speeds.

Why not buy the frame you want and get it painted? Paint is just cosmetic after all.

bullet...you are going about this all wrong...color (altho very important) is NOT # 1 priority in bike purchase!!!
size, fit, functionality, usage...then decide what color! and as V mentioned...color can always be added and personalized!!!
what is your price range?...what type of riding will she be doing?...what level is she?...have you thought about her test-riding a few?...there are lots of ways to still surprise her and still ler HER pick out the bike!!!
Silver - I'm sending you some info on the rims. 21-23 speeds? Where does 23 come from? Do you mean 21, 24 or 27?

The girls are right about color. You can get frames powdercoated pretty inexpensively. You want hardtail or full suspension? Titus made their Racer-X in hot pink until last year. You may be able to find one of those.
Does she ride already?

My rims are the disk-specific VXC at the bottom right. If you don't want disk, it looks like the Aeroheat AT at the top left also comes in pink. These rims will have a silver braking surface so won't have as much eye-popping pink on them.

i had a thought when you mentioned you have an "old" trek...is it just sittin' there? can you swap the components from that to a shiney NEW frame (or a used one with fresh paint;) ) just to get her out on the trails to see how she does? then you can start applying newer components accordingly?
my mtb has some middle of the line components and some higher end components for a couple of reasons...one example: my original brakes were avids but i got the middle of the road levers because they were LIGHTER!!! but that was because they were plastic...which was fine for me because i was a nooobie and pobably not going to be as hard on them...well time has past and i am racking up the miles so for Christmas hubby and i treated ourselves to hydro brakes...had to go with the better ones there:D
so you see...you have many, many avenues you can go without braking "her" bank and getting her a nice, beeeeutiful ride!!!!
Silver- I jsut saw a Kona purple frame that might be what you are looking for. The whole bike is around $700 I think. It's a beg to intermediate hard tail. Check out the kona web site.
Well, the 'old' Trek is what I ride. It's an old bonded aluminum frame, and I went hog crazy on components since I used to work at a bike shop (got a great deal on all my parts).Quote:

ps. I'm attaching a picture although you can't really tell how cool the color is - its a reddish color but in the sun you can see an orange in it and metalic.
Cove frames come in pink. The Handjob is their xc frame and is the least expensive. It's a steel hardtail frame and is reasonably priced if I remember correctly. I seriously considered this frame before deciding to go full custom.

I found a 2004 Gary Fisher Tassajara WSD frame on Ebay, I'm going to keep my eye on it.
Oh, also the new Trek 6700 WSD come in pink, but it could be tough getting just the frame.
