I take Zoloft for depression. My prescription was supposed to have been filled last Tuesday, but it's still not ready. I ran out of pills yesterday, from what I remember, you shouldn't stop these meds cold turkey. How long before I'm in trouble?:o

Snap, does your health plan have a nurse triage line? A lot these days do. Give them a call or call the pharmacy. Maybe they'll have a few pills to tide you over till they can get the full supply. Your doc probably even has some samples.
It depends on your dosage. But for the majority of patients taking this prescription you should not stop without a doctors guideance (tapering down etc.) PLEASE call your doc immediately and get something to tide you over. Zoloft, as with any meds of this type, can cause severe depression and often overwhelming thoughts of suicide if stopped "cold turkey".
Hey Snap - how are you going? Did you manage to sort something out with your prescription?Quote:

I'm changing to a different pharmacy, this isn't the first time this has happened, just never with this particular 'script.
Snap, I'm glad yo got it filled. I used to be on a massive dose of zoloft when I was younger for severe depression/suicidal feelings and I once went cold turkey when my pharmacy couldn't fill the med on time. :( I ended up in the hospital a few days later. :( So, I'm glad you're well.

Snap - thats good news.
Have a good weekend.:)
That's GREAT NEWS Snap! Glad to hear everything worked out.
I'm glad to hear it. I was on Paxil and Doxepin for awhile. One time there was a goof with one of them, and I spent some uncomfortable days without that med. I changed pharmacies, too. That pharmacy should know that it put you in potential danger with the misinformation on their website. Take care, Lise
Thank you ladies. I was beginning to get a bit twitchy, for lack of a better description. :D I will never let that happen again!
