Alaska Marine Highway

It's still two years out, but my husband and I are in the beginning stages of trying to plan a trip on a ferry through the inside passage using only our bikes for transportation on the various islands we will be stopping at. We live in Michigan and aren't sure how we will get the bikes to Bellingham or how logistics will work on each of the island stops. Has anyone ever done this?
